Gayhurst

Newport Hundred was a hundred in the county of Buckinghamshire, England. It encompassed the north of the county, enclosed by the counties of Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire and the Buckinghamshire hundreds of Aylesbury and Buckingham. It was commonly known as "the three hundreds of Newport" because it amalgamated three earlier (11C) hundreds: Bonestou (or Bunsty), Moulsoe and Siglelai (or Seckley/Seckloe/Secklow). Its modern equivalent is the Borough of Milton Keynes, which covers almost exactly the same area (plus a little of the former Winslow Hundred, itself one of 18 ancient hundreds amalgamated under the administrative control of Cottesloe Hundred).

Gayhurst House (now known as Gayhurst Court) is a late-Elizabethan country house in Buckinghamshire. It is located near the village of Gayhurst, several kilometres north of Milton Keynes. The earliest house dates from the 1520s. In 1597 it was greatly expanded by William Moulsoe. His son-in-law, Everard Digby, completed the rebuilding, prior to his execution in 1606 for participating in the Gunpowder Plot. The house was subsequently owned by the Wrightes, and latterly the Carringtons. Robert Carrington engaged William Burges who undertook much remodelling of both the house and the estate, although his plans for Gayhurst were more extensive still. In the 20th century, the Carringtons sold the house, although retaining much of the surrounding estate. It is now divided into flats, with further housing in the surrounding estate buildings. The house and the adjacent Church of St Peter are Grade I listed buildings and many of the buildings in the grounds have separate listings. Gayhurst House is not open to the public, although it can be seen from the footpath leading to the church.

The borough abuts Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and the remainder of Buckinghamshire.The principal built-up area in the borough is the Milton Keynes urban area, which accounts for about 20% of its area and 90% of its population. The borough also includes many rural areas surrounding the Milton Keynes urban area (especially to the north), containing several villages and the town of Olney. At the 2021 census, the population of the unitary authority area was just over 287,000.

The Cerberus Privy, at Gayhurst House, Buckinghamshire, England, is a communal lavatory built for the male servants of the house. It was constructed between 1859-1860 and was designed by William Burges. Now converted to a private home, it is a Grade II* listed building.

There is a theory that the name Tyringham refers to a settlement of Thuringii Germans coming with the Anglo-Saxons in the Dark Ages.

Little Linford is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Haversham-cum-Little Linford, in the City of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. Located near the M1 motorway, the village is about 2 miles (3.2 km) north-west of Newport Pagnell and 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of Central Milton Keynes. The village is separated from its neighbour and namesake Great Linford (and the rest of the Milton Keynes urban area) by the floodplain of the River Great Ouse. In 1931 the parish had a population of 45. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Haversham to form "Haversham cum Little Linford".Little Linford was initially a hamlet in the manor and ecclesiastical parish of Linford. The parish church is dedicated to St Leonard. The traditional parish name 'Linford' is an Old English language word that means 'ford where maple trees grow'. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the village was recorded as Linforde. The prefix 'Little' was added to distinguish it from Great Linford.

Stoke Goldington is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority area of the City of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. It is located about four miles NNW of Newport Pagnell, on the road to Northampton.

Little Linford Wood is a 42.5-hectare (105-acre) nature reserve in Little Linford in the City of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. It is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust.Much of the woodland is young as it was felled in 1980, shortly before the Trust took over the site, but there are also areas of mature oak and ash. In 1998 dormice were introduced, and they live high up in the canopy. Other mammals include stoats and badgers, and there are birds such as great spotted woodpeckers, kestrels and buzzards. Grassy rides provide a habitat for butterflies.The wood is crossed by footpaths and there is access for cars by a track from the road between the B526 and Haversham.

Stoke Goldington Steam Rally & Country Fayre was an annual show which showcased UK heritage in the form of Steam Engines, Stationary Engines, vintage tractors and other agricultural machinery. The show was held on the second weekend in May, at Westside Farm, in Stoke Goldington (near Milton Keynes), for most of its approximately thirty-five year life, with the first show in 1976. The show was run by villagers and exhibit experts from the surrounding villages, and was set up to provide funds for the Stoke Goldington Village Hall which was opened in 1976. The events were set on a 40-acre (160,000 m2) site on a hillside above the village.

Filgrave is a hamlet in the unitary authority area of the City of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. It is about 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Newport Pagnell and 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Central Milton Keynes. The hamlet name is an Old English language word, and means 'Fygla's grove'. In manorial rolls of 1241 it was listed as Filegrave.
