Newport Pagnell services

The Newport Pagnell Canal was a 1.25 mile canal in Buckinghamshire that ran from the Grand Junction Canal at Great Linford to Newport Pagnell through seven locks. Construction was authorised by an Act of Parliament in June 1814 and it probably opened in 1817. It closed in 1864, with part of the route used for the line of a railway.

Great Linford railway station was a railway station on the Wolverton to Newport Pagnell line. It served the village of Great Linford, Buckinghamshire, which it was located a little to the northeast of. Built next to the Linford Wharf on the Grand Union Canal, the station opened to traffic in 1867. The station consisted of a brick built station building, and single platform. The station did not have a goods yard or sidings. The last passenger train ran on 5 September 1964: 109  and the last goods train passed through on 22 May 1967. The station building was demolished although the platform remains intact to this day. The trackbed through the station has been converted into a cycle way, forming part of the Milton Keynes redway system.

Milton Keynes & District Reform Synagogue, also known as Beit Echud, is a Reform Jewish community on Hainault Avenue in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. Its current synagogue building was opened in 2002. The community was founded in 1978 and is affiliated to the Movement for Reform Judaism. It publishes a members' newsletter, Listen.

Ousedale School, is an academy based in Newport Pagnell and Olney, in the City of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. The school opened in 1963 to serve the community of Newport Pagnell and its surrounding villages. A second campus in Olney opened in 2007 to serve students from the north of the Milton Keynes unitary authority area. It is one of the top performing schools in the Milton Keynes UA for A level and GCSE results, and achieved the top 20% of GCSE results nationally in 2019.

Linford Manor, also known as Great Linford Manor, is a seventeenth-century mansion or manor house converted into a recording studio complex in Great Linford, a district in Milton Keynes, England. It is now owned by Pete Winkelman who is chairman of Milton Keynes Dons football club.

The Milton Keynes urban area or Milton Keynes Built-up Area is a designation established by the United Kingdom's Office for National Statistics. Milton Keynes has no statutory boundary: the 1967 designated area only determined the area assigned to the Milton Keynes Development Corporation for development. The wider urban area outside that designation includes Newport Pagnell and Woburn Sands as well as Aspley Guise (Bedfordshire) and part of Stoke Hammond civil parish.At the 2021 census, the population of Milton Keynes's Built-up Area was 256,385, an increase of 11.5% over the figure of 229,941 recorded at the 2011 census. That in turn was an increase of almost 25% on the population recorded in the 2001 census of 184,506.

Newport Pagnell railway station was a railway station that served Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, on the Wolverton–Newport Pagnell line. Opened in 1867 the station consisted of a brick built station building, and extensive goods facilities. The last passenger train ran on 5 September 1964 and the last goods train on 22 May 1967. The station site is now under Sheppard's Close, a modern residential development. The trackbed is now a rail trail, part of the Milton Keynes redway system. There is commemorative column on the site of the final signal post just short of the station site.

Great Linford is a historic village, district and wider civil parish in the north of Milton Keynes, England, between Wolverton and Newport Pagnell, and roughly 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Central Milton Keynes.

The Pennyland project was one of a series of low-energy building experiments sparked by the 1973 oil crisis. It involved the construction of an estate of 177 houses in the Pennyland area of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. It compared possible future UK building efficiency standards with newly introduced Danish ones. Although identical externally, half the Pennyland houses (Area 1) were built to the proposed 1982 UK Building Regulations energy efficiency standards. The other half (Area 2) were built to the much more demanding 1977 Danish BR77 standard. (In Europe, BR77 and the Swedish SBN-80 standards set the benchmark for low-energy housing at the time.) Sponsored by the UK Department of Energy, Department of Environment and Milton Keynes Development Corporation, and using the technical expertise of the Open University Energy Research Group, the houses were constructed during 1979 and 1980. For comparison, two additional groups of control houses, already built in 1978, were studied on an adjoining site at Neath Hill. A further group, the Linford low energy houses were built to the Pennyland Area 2 standards and used for more detailed tests.

The Old Town Hall Chambers is a historic building in the High Street in Newport Pagnell, a town in Buckinghamshire, in England. The building, which served as a public events venue, is a grade II listed building.

Little Linford is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Haversham-cum-Little Linford, in the City of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. Located near the M1 motorway, the village is about 2 miles (3.2 km) north-west of Newport Pagnell and 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of Central Milton Keynes. The village is separated from its neighbour and namesake Great Linford (and the rest of the Milton Keynes urban area) by the floodplain of the River Great Ouse. In 1931 the parish had a population of 45. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Haversham to form "Haversham cum Little Linford".Little Linford was initially a hamlet in the manor and ecclesiastical parish of Linford. The parish church is dedicated to St Leonard. The traditional parish name 'Linford' is an Old English language word that means 'ford where maple trees grow'. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the village was recorded as Linforde. The prefix 'Little' was added to distinguish it from Great Linford.

Wolverton Urban District was a local government district in Buckinghamshire, England, from 1920 to 1974, covering the town of Wolverton and its environs, including the town of Stony Stratford. A district covering this area existed from 1894 to 1974, but was initially a rural district called Stratford and Wolverton Rural District. It was redesignated an urban district in 1919, briefly being called Stratford and Wolverton Urban District before being renamed Wolverton Urban District in 1920.
