Mulford Gardens is a neighborhood in San Leandro in Alameda County, California. It lies at an elevation of 20 feet (6 m). It was formerly an unincorporated community. It is between Mulford and Mulford Landing.

Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline is a park in San Leandro, California, part of the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD). It is located along the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay directly to the south of Oakland International Airport. The property was originally used as a landfill for 37 years, until it was filled to capacity in 1977, when it was capped with a clay cover. EBRPD bought the property in 1980, intending to use it as a park.

Sobrante Park is a neighborhood located in East Oakland, California, which is partially separated from the rest of the city by two railroad tracks and San Leandro Creek. It was built shortly after World War II, first as a White-Only Lockout and then gradually becoming a White flight red-zone in the mid to late 1950s, and in the early 1960s it became a working-class black neighborhood. It was projected by planners that there would be no in-road into San Leandro's Davis St. residential area which was developed during the same period. In the 1980s the neighborhood became a center of crack cocaine dealing. A large gang from the neighborhood gave itself the nickname, "11-5" (or "11-500") which refers to the section of California State's legal code for drug crimes. A memorial to 32 men and six women members of the gang who have been killed since then (as of 2002) was painted on the basketball court in Tyrone Carney Park, a local park named after a young man from the neighborhood who died in the Vietnam war. The city installed a fence around the park in an attempt to reduce the murders and drug dealing that had been taking place in and around the park. Sobrante Park is a mostly African-American and Latino neighborhood, with African-Americans forming 53.5%, and Latinos forming about 38%[1]. Sobrante Park and the informally named "Ghost Town" have been two of the most crime-ridden areas on Oakland. Recently, the Alameda County Department of Health, local organizations, and community members established a Time Bank project for the neighborhood in order to facilitate skill sharing among residents, rebuild trust, and revitalize the community of Sobrante Park.

The San Leandro Tech Campus is a business park being constructed by Westlake Development Partners LLC in downtown San Leandro, California, near the San Leandro BART station. Construction of Phase 1 of the project began in 2014, and was completed in 2016. The primary tenant of the first phase of construction is OSIsoft, a software company based in San Leandro. Phase 2 of the project is expected to be completed in 2019 with Ghirardelli Chocolate Company as the lead tenant.The site is the permanent location for the sculpture Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane. The sculpture generated some controversy, as it is a large (55 ft (17 m) tall) nude outdoor sculpture, albeit on private property.

Mulford Landing is a neighborhood in San Leandro in Alameda County, California. It was formerly an unincorporated community. It southwest of Mulford Gardens, on San Francisco Bay. The San Leandro Marina city park and shoreline is located in this neighborhood as well as the Shoreline Recreation area, which hosts restaurants, boat launches, a hotel and a golf course.

Truth is Beauty, is a 55-foot (17 m) sculpture by Marco Cochrane. The sculpture is lit from the inside by more than 3,000 LED lights. It is part of a series of three large-scale steel sculptures of nude women by Cochrane, Bliss Dance (2010), Truth is Beauty (2013) and R-Evolution (2015). It was first exhibited at the 2013 Burning Man, then the Las Vegas Strip, and is now at permanent display at the San Leandro Tech Campus in California.

San Leandro is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station located off Davis Street (Route 61/122) in downtown San Leandro, California. The station has two elevated side platforms, with the faregates at ground level. It opened on September 11, 1972 - part of the first BART line.

Casa de Estudillo was a 19th-century adobe house, located in San Leandro, California. It was built by Don José Joaquín Estudillo, a member of the prominent Estudillo family of California.

Brookfield Village is an Oakland, California neighborhood located in East Oakland near Oakland International Airport. The main streets are 98th Avenue and Edes Avenue. Brookfield Village was built during World War II in response to the influx of workers needed for the war industries, on land which had been zoned for industrial uses. It was one of the first suburban style tract house developments in Oakland. Brookfield Village was developed by Albert Bernhardt and the Stoneon Brothers; a subdivision of over 1200 homes that featured winding, contoured streets lined with shade trees. Its creators advertised it as "a model village on the Pacific Coast."Damian Lillard, who is a professional NBA basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers, grew up in Brookfield Village.

Mulford Landing is a neighborhood in San Leandro in Alameda County, California. Originally known as Wicks Landing, the landing at San Leandro was founded in 1853 by Moses Wicks, Thomas W. Mulford, Eliphalet M. Smith, and William Smith. They made a living by selling wildfowl, which was trapped in the Rancho San Leandro and transported from their landing across the Bay to San Francisco. Mulford, who had come to California in 1849, bought the others out in 1868.The Mulford station on the South Pacific Coast railway line between Alameda Point and Newark took its original name from this. It was later renamed the West San Leandro station when the Southern Pacific Railroad Company bought the line in 1887.Thomas W. Mulford also leased from José Joaquín Estudillo, and eventually owned, a farm named Shore Acres; had an oyster fishery; and was the manager of a hotel and restaurant in San Leandro, Estudillo House built in 1855. The farm lost all of its livestock as a result of a mass slaughter to stem hoof-and-mouth disease in 1924, and the farmland, which had been in Mulford family hands until that time, was sold in 1927 to form a subdivision, named Mulford Gardens. In 1957, this subdivision was then incorporated into San Leandro.

The San Leandro Oyster Beds in San Leandro, California, were the origin of the oyster industry in the U.S. state of California. During the 1890s, the oyster industry thrived until it became the single most important fishery in the state. According to the description provided by the California Office of Historic Preservation, Moses Wicks is supposed to have been the first to bring seed oysters around Cape Horn and implant them in the San Leandro beds. The oyster industry in San Francisco Bay was at its height around the turn of the 20th century. It reached a secondary peak by 1911 and then faded away because of polluted conditions of the bay.The former site of the oyster beds was named a California Historical Landmark (#824) and is located in the San Leandro Marina. The historical marker has been stolen but the mounting holes remain in a large mosaic depicting oyster harvesting early in the 1900s. A photograph of the site is available online. It shows the curved mosaic mural and the space where the historical marker was formerly located.
