Butler Green

South Chadderton is a tram stop on the Oldham and Rochdale Line (ORL) of Greater Manchester's light-rail Metrolink system. It opened to passengers on 13 June 2012 and is located between Drury Lane and Stanley Road in the Coalshaw Green area of southern Chadderton, a part of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, England. It was purpose-built for Metrolink as part of Phase 3a of the system's expansion, on the route of the former Oldham Loop Line.

Coalshaw Green is a locality in the town of Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester. Lying 1.8 miles south of Chadderton town centre, Coalshaw Green was formerly an archaic hamlet located in the south east of the township around the junction of Turf Lane and Drury Lane, and forms a contiguous urban area with Butler Green, Whitegate and Hollinwood. Coalshaw Green Park, which opened in 1911, is Chadderton's oldest public park. It comprises a formal park and, until 2017, adjoining playing fields which has now become a suburban housing development.The Chadderton Cricket & Bowling Club, known locally as 'The Big Cot', is a long-standing social club in the area.Coalshaw Green is also the location of South Chadderton Metrolink station.

Magnet Mill, Chadderton is a cotton spinning mill in Chadderton, Oldham, Greater Manchester. It was built by the Magnet Mill Ltd. in 1902, but purchased by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in 1935. It was later taken over by the Courtaulds Group. Ceasing textile production in December 1966, it was demolished soon after. A suburban residential estate now occupies this site. It was driven by a 2200 hp twin tandem compound engine by George Saxon & Co, Openshaw, 1903. It had a 27-foot flywheel with 35 ropes, operating at 64½ rpm.

Nimble Nook is a locality in the town of Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester.Nimble Nook lies 1.3 miles south west of Chadderton's modern commercial centre on Middleton Road and is located around the junction of Denton Lane and Foxdenton Lane. The arterial road Broadway (A663), constructed in 1925, bisects the area from north to south. Nimble Nook is contiguous with other areas of Chadderton - Butler Green, Whitegate and Cowhill with semi-rural Foxdenton to the west.

Block Lane is a locality in the town of Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester. It is located on Chadderton's eastern border with Oldham, contiguous with the Freehold area of that town, and with Cowhill and Butler Green.

Blessed John Henry Newman RC College is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford. The school was formed in 2011 from the amalgamation of St Augustine of Canterbury RC High School in Werneth, Oldham and Our Lady's R.C. High School in Royton. The merged school was originally based over the two former school sites, but has now moved to a new building. In the Ofsted inspection of February 2013 the school was judged as inadequate. In the inspection of May 2015 it was rated as 'good'.

The names Cowhill and Block Lane were also considered as names for the stop prior to opening, the local council finally opting for the name Freehold. The stop is one of the newly built stops on what was the Oldham Loop Line.

Hollinwood tram stop is a tram stop and park & ride site on the Manchester Metrolink Oldham and Rochdale Line in Hollinwood, Greater Manchester, England. It was formerly a railway station before its conversion to a tram stop between 2009 and 2012.

Freehold is an urban area of Werneth in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It occupies an area in the west of Werneth along the Oldham township boundary with Chadderton. It is contiguous on all sides with other urban areas, including parts of Werneth to the north and east, and Cowhill, Block Lane, and Butler Green/Washbrook in Chadderton. Freehold is centred on Oxford Street and is broadly bounded by Manchester Road, Edward Street, the former Oldham Loop Line railway, Block Lane, and Suffolk Street.The area was redeveloped, to some extent, as part of the government's Housing Market Renewal Initiative – the Werneth Freehold Masterplan – comprising Freehold, Block Lane, and some small adjacent parts of north Werneth and south Chadderton. However, some parts of Freehold have remained derelict since the early 2000s following loss of funding for the initiative.Freehold tram stop opened in 2012 at the Oldham/Chadderton boundary at Block Lane, and serves both the Freehold area of Oldham and the Cowhill/Block Lane areas of Chadderton. The station's position on the boundary means it lies partially in both Chadderton and Oldham.

Ace Mill is a cotton spinning mill in Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester. It was built as Gorse No. 2 Mill, in 1914 and cotton was first spun in 1919 by the Ace Mill Ltd, who renamed the mill. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. Production ended in 1967. Although known as Ace Mill, Hollinwood (due to Hollinwood being the closest serving railway station), the mill is located in the Whitegate area of south Chadderton around a mile away from Hollinwood. The five-storey mill has a floor area of 38,500 sq ft (3,580 m2). It is now used as a warehouse. It was powered by a 2500 hp cross compound engine (Mary and Elizabeth) by Urmson and Thompson built in 1920. It had a 26 ft (7.9 m) flywheel with 42 ropes that ran at 64rpm.

Blackridings Mill, Oldham was a cotton waste mill lying off Block Lane in the Werneth area of Oldham, Greater Manchester. It was built before 1861 and ceased spinning between 1875 and 1880. It was then used for flock manufacture and processing cotton waste. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. Production ended in 1973 and the building was demolished in 1975.

Cowhill (archaically Cow Hill) is a locality of Chadderton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It is located 0.5 miles (0.80 km) southeast of Chadderton town centre close to its eastern boundary with Oldham and is contiguous with the Block Lane, Stock Brook, Butler Green and Nimble Nook areas of the town and with Freehold and Westwood in Oldham. An ancient hamlet which grew into an industrial village, Cowhill is now a residential area and includes a large housing development, Crossley Estate, built as part of widespread redevelopment of the area in the 1960s and 1970s. 2014 saw the completion of major refurbishment of the estate including 87 new houses and a new community centre, The Crossley Centre.Adjoining the Crossley Estate are the Crossley Playing Fields which features five football pitches plus changing room facilities. The playing fields and changing rooms were completely refurbished during 2015. The work was carried out by Oldham Council and supported by the Premier League and the FA Facilities Fund, which provides grants towards developing new or refurbished grassroots football facilities.Cow Hill sub post office, located at 299 Denton Lane, was the last institution to bear the locality's name. It closed as part of the Post Office's restructuring of services in 2008–09. The area is served by Christ Church (Church of England) Primary School.
