Hollinwood is an area and electoral ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. The population at the 2011 census was 10,920.Bisected by the A62 road, Hollinwood is southwest of Oldham, contiguous with the towns of Chadderton and Failsworth, at Junction 22 of the M60 motorway.

Coalshaw Green is a locality in the town of Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester. Lying 1.8 miles south of Chadderton town centre, Coalshaw Green was formerly an archaic hamlet located in the south east of the township around the junction of Turf Lane and Drury Lane, and forms a contiguous urban area with Butler Green, Whitegate and Hollinwood. Coalshaw Green Park, which opened in 1911, is Chadderton's oldest public park. It comprises a formal park and, until 2017, adjoining playing fields which has now become a suburban housing development.The Chadderton Cricket & Bowling Club, known locally as 'The Big Cot', is a long-standing social club in the area.Coalshaw Green is also the location of South Chadderton Metrolink station.

South Chadderton is a tram stop on the Oldham and Rochdale Line (ORL) of Greater Manchester's light-rail Metrolink system. It opened to passengers on 13 June 2012 and is located between Drury Lane and Stanley Road in the Coalshaw Green area of southern Chadderton, a part of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, England. It was purpose-built for Metrolink as part of Phase 3a of the system's expansion, on the route of the former Oldham Loop Line.

Kaskenmoor School was a mixed gender comprehensive secondary school for 11- to 16-year-old children in the Hollinwood area of Oldham in Greater Manchester, England. It also had a 6th form consisting of the Upper and Lower 6th, catering for 16 to 18 year olds who studied for their A levels. The school had approximately 750 pupils in attendance. When it opened in the mid-1960s, Kaskenmoor was an amalgamation of Greenhill Grammar School and Hollinwood Secondary Modern School, and was called Kaskenmoor Comprehensive School. The top three classes were grammar school classes and the bottom three were secondary modern classes, each for the most part keeping their own teachers. The headmaster Mr. Edwin Grey, and the teachers from the grammar school continued to wear their gowns at morning assembly and some in class too. The school uniform was modernised in line with the 1960s fashion. The school blazer was collar-less in charcoal with a green ribbon trim, and straw boaters were introduced, but short-lived. Summer dresses were no longer old fashioned gingham shirt-waisters, but a bold design, in two tone green, shift dress. The school had a state of the art craft block which included ceramics, art, metalwork and woodwork. The new building was featured on a BBC TV documentary. In 2005 Park Dean, Marland Fold and Hill Top Special schools joined the Kaskenmoor campus founding the new special needs school New Bridge. Kaskenmoor's motto was "Building a Community of Learners". Because the school was built on marshlands of Oldham there were four separate buildings in the campus. Kaskenmoor has now been amalgamated with South Chadderton School to become Oasis Academy Oldham.

Butler Green is a residential area in the town of Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester. The area is also commonly known as Washbrook.Located in the south east of the town, Butler Green forms a contiguous urban area with Coalshaw Green, Whitegate, Nimble Nook, Block Lane and Hollinwood.Hollinwood Rugby League Club are based at Butler Green on Melrose Fields, the site of the former Melrose Mill.

Fox Mill was a cotton spinning mill in Hollinwood, Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964.

Collective Spirit Free School was a secondary school in South Chadderton, Oldham. It opened in 2013 on the old site of South Chadderton School. The school had 4 year groups (Year 7, 8, 9 and 10). The school had around 210 students.

South Chadderton School was a co-educational secondary school in Chadderton, Greater Manchester, England. The school catered for children aged 11–16. South Chadderton was a Full Service Extended School worked in close collaboration with the City Learning Centre and Whitegate End infant and primary schools, with which the school shared the campus. The school had access to a considerable range of resources for working parents and families to support learning beyond the school day. In 2007, staff went on strike after a teacher was suspended as part of an investigation into the publication of a diary detailing the bad behaviour of pupils.In 2012 South Chadderton amalgamated with Kaskenmoor School to become Oasis Academy Oldham. The school is now located in Hollinwood, and its former site was used by Collective Spirit Free School until its closure in July 2017.

Failsworth is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham in Greater Manchester, England, 3.7 miles (6.0 km) north-east of Manchester city centre and 2.9 miles (4.7 km) south-west of Oldham. The orbital M60 motorway skirts it to the east. The population at the 2011 census was 20,680. Historically in Lancashire, Failsworth until the 19th century was a farming township linked ecclesiastically with Manchester. Inhabitants supplemented their farming income with domestic hand-loom weaving. The humid climate and abundant labour and coal led to weaving of textiles as a Lancashire Mill Town with redbrick cotton mills. A current landmark is the Failsworth Pole. Daisy Nook is a country park on the southern edge.

Ace Mill is a cotton spinning mill in Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester. It was built as Gorse No. 2 Mill, in 1914 and cotton was first spun in 1919 by the Ace Mill Ltd, who renamed the mill. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. Production ended in 1967. Although known as Ace Mill, Hollinwood (due to Hollinwood being the closest serving railway station), the mill is located in the Whitegate area of south Chadderton around a mile away from Hollinwood. The five-storey mill has a floor area of 38,500 sq ft (3,580 m2). It is now used as a warehouse. It was powered by a 2500 hp cross compound engine (Mary and Elizabeth) by Urmson and Thompson built in 1920. It had a 26 ft (7.9 m) flywheel with 42 ropes that ran at 64rpm.

Whitegate is an industrial and residential district of the town of Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. Lying along the course of the Rochdale Canal, Whitegate is located in the south of Chadderton, contiguous with the Nimble Nook, Butler Green, Coalshaw Green and Hollinwood areas of the town and New Moston in the City of Manchester which lies to the south. Whitegate is bisected from east to west by the M60 motorway with a junction (21) at the A663 (Broadway) which bisects the area from north to south, close to the Boat And Horses public house. A small recreation ground, Princess Park, serves the area. Its facilities include a multi purpose games area and children's playground.Oldham Broadway Business Park is located in this district, lying alongside the Rochdale Canal through the Slacks Valley between Whitegate and Middleton Junction.
