Hartford Mill was a Grade II-listed building located off Block Lane, in the Freehold area of Oldham, UK.

Freehold is a tram stop on the Oldham and Rochdale Line (ORL) of Greater Manchester's light-rail Metrolink system. It opened to passengers on 13 June 2012 as part of Phase 3a of the system's expansion, and is located on Block Lane in Chadderton at its boundary with Oldham in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, England.Freehold tram stop serves the Cowhill and Block Lane areas of Chadderton and the adjacent Freehold area of Werneth, Oldham from which the station takes its name. The names Cowhill and Block Lane were also considered as names for the stop prior to opening, the local council finally opting for the name Freehold. The stop is one of the newly built stops on what was the Oldham Loop Line.

Cowhill (archaically Cow Hill) is a locality of Chadderton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It is located 0.5 miles (0.80 km) southeast of Chadderton town centre close to its eastern boundary with Oldham and is contiguous with the Block Lane, Stock Brook, Butler Green and Nimble Nook areas of the town and with Freehold and Westwood in Oldham. An ancient hamlet which grew into an industrial village, Cowhill is now a residential area and includes a large housing development, Crossley Estate, built as part of widespread redevelopment of the area in the 1960s and 1970s. 2014 saw the completion of major refurbishment of the estate including 87 new houses and a new community centre, The Crossley Centre.Adjoining the Crossley Estate are the Crossley Playing Fields which features five football pitches plus changing room facilities. The playing fields and changing rooms were completely refurbished during 2015. The work was carried out by Oldham Council and supported by the Premier League and the FA Facilities Fund, which provides grants towards developing new or refurbished grassroots football facilities.Cow Hill sub post office, located at 299 Denton Lane, was the last institution to bear the locality's name. It closed as part of the Post Office's restructuring of services in 2008–09. The area is served by Christ Church (Church of England) Primary School.

It is contiguous on all sides with other urban areas, including parts of Werneth to the north and east, and Cowhill, Block Lane, and Butler Green/Washbrook in Chadderton. Freehold is centred on Oxford Street and is broadly bounded by Manchester Road, Edward Street, the former Oldham Loop Line railway, Block Lane, and Suffolk Street.The area was redeveloped, to some extent, as part of the government's Housing Market Renewal Initiative – the Werneth Freehold Masterplan – comprising Freehold, Block Lane, and some small adjacent parts of north Werneth and south Chadderton. However, some parts of Freehold have remained derelict since the early 2000s following loss of funding for the initiative.Freehold tram stop opened in 2012 at the Oldham/Chadderton boundary at Block Lane, and serves both the Freehold area of Oldham and the Cowhill/Block Lane areas of Chadderton. The station's position on the boundary means it lies partially in both Chadderton and Oldham.

Werneth (; WUR-nəth) is an area of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. The population at the 2011 census was 12,348. It is 1 mile (1.6 km) west-southwest of Oldham's commercial centre and one of its most ancient localities. It is contiguous with Westwood, Hollinwood, Hollins and Chadderton. Werneth includes Freehold between Werneth Park and Oldham's border with Chadderton at Block Lane. In 2017 more than three quarters (76.6%) of Werneth's population were members of an ethnic minority group, with the Pakistani population being largest (48.6%).

The company manufactured textile machinery and were iron founders and colliery proprietors. By the end of the 19th century, the company had become the largest textile machinery manufacturer in the world, employing more than 12,000 workers.

Chadderton Urban District was, from 1894 to 1974, a local government district of the administrative county of Lancashire, England. It was centred on the town of Chadderton. It was created an urban district in 1894 by the Local Government Act 1894 and included the civil parish of Chadderton and part of the district of Hollinwood. In 1974 Chadderton Urban District was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972 and its former area transferred to Greater Manchester to form part of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham.

Textile Mill, Chadderton was a cotton spinning mill in Chadderton, Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It was built in 1882 by Potts, Pickup & Dixon for the Textile Mill Co. Ltd, and closed in 1927. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the late 1940s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964 and used for cotton waste sorting. Half of the building was destroyed by fire on 11 July 1950, but the remaining section continued to be used for cotton waste sorting by W. H. Holt and Son until 1988. Lancashire England

Werneth Park is a public park in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, including a Grade II* listed Community Centre, Music Rooms, Dame Sarah Lees Memorial, Gardens and sports facilities.

Westwood Moravian Church was founded in 1865 in the Westwood area of Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England. By 1868 the church building was too small for its congregation, and a new structure was opened in 1869. This church was used for Moravian services until 2005 when the congregation sold it and moved to its new premises in Royton. The Westwood building still stands.
