Bedford station was an intercity rail station located in Bedford, Virginia. It was served by Norfolk and Western Railway passenger trains until 1971. It was later served by Amtrak's Mountaineer from 1975 to 1977, then the Hilltopper until 1979. The station building remains extant and is used as a restaurant.

The National D-Day Memorial is a war memorial located in Bedford, Virginia. It serves as the national memorial for American D-Day veterans. However, its scope is international in that it states, "In Tribute to the valor, fidelity and sacrifice of Allied Forces on D-Day, June 6, 1944" and commends all Allied Armed Forces during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944, during World War II.The memorial, bordering the Blue Ridge Mountains in southwestern Virginia, is an area of over 50 acres (200,000 m2) that overlooks the town of Bedford. It officially opened on June 6, 2001, with 15,000 people present, including then-President George W. Bush. About 60,000 people have visited the memorial each year. Of those, more than half are from outside of Virginia.

Burks–Guy–Hagen House is a historic home located at Bedford, Virginia. It was built about 1884, and is a two-story, brick dwelling in a Victorian Villa style. It features a three-level square tower with a mansard roof and complex bracketed wooden gable with a hood or "apron". It is set among romantically landscaped grounds and wood-bordered rear meadow. The house was built for Judge Martin P. Burks (1851-1928).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Bedford Historic Meetinghouse, also known as Methodist Meetinghouse and St. Philip's Episcopal Church, is a historic meeting house located at 153 W. Main Street in Bedford, Virginia. It was built in 1838, and is a brick building measuring 38 feet by 58 feet and in the Greek Revival style. It features a shallow, pedimented gable roof topped by a square belfry with a stubby, tapered spire. It was built as Bedford's first Methodist Church and houses the headquarters of the Bedford Historical Society.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The district encompasses 208 contributing buildings in two residential neighborhoods of Bedford, known locally as the Old Avenel area and the Longwood Avenue area. The buildings are in a variety of 19th- and early 20th-century architectural styles. Notable buildings include Chestnut, Winthrop, the Thomas L. Leftwich House, Liberty Presbyterian Church (1844), John Wharton House (1848), Burks-Guy House (1884), Charles W. Wharton House (now the Bedford Children's Library), the Harrison Building (1878), George L. Colgate House (1892), Bedford Masonic Hall (1895), Citizens Bank Building (Bedford, Virginia), Bedford High School (1928), Bedford County Courthouse (1930), Bedford Elementary School (1912), Main Street Methodist Church (1880s), and St. John's Episcopal Church (1923). Avenel (1836) and the John D. Ballard House (1915) are separately listed.The District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

John D. Ballard House, also known as the Ballard-Worsham House, is a historic home located at Bedford, Virginia. It was designed by noted Lynchburg architect Stanhope S. Johnson and built in 1915. It is a two-story, brick dwelling in the Colonial Revival style. It has a steep deck-on-hip roof with terra cotta Spanish roofing tiles, a formal front facade with segmentally arched windows, and a one-story front portico, with grouped Doric order columns. Also on the property is a contributing meat house / tool shed.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. It is located in the Bedford Historic District.

Bedford is an incorporated town and former independent city located within Bedford County in the U.S. state of Virginia. It serves as the county seat of Bedford County. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,657. It is part of the Lynchburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bedford County surrounds the town and has the Blue Ridge Mountains to the north, Smith Mountain Lake to the south, Lynchburg to the east, and Roanoke to the west.

The Bedford Museum & Genealogical Library is the county museum and genealogical library for Bedford County, Virginia It was started in 1932 by the General William R. Terry chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Peaks of Otter chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. It was in multiple locations in the town of Bedford, VA including the Courthouse and the library. It finally found its permanent home in 1979 when it moved into the former Masonic Hall for Liberty Lodge #95. It is part of the Bedford Historic District and is known as Bedford Masonic Hall on that Wiki page. It is located at 201 E. Main St. Bedford, VA.

Fancy Farm is a historic plantation house located at Kelso Mill, near Bedford, Bedford County, Virginia. It was built about 1785, and is a two-story, five bay brick dwelling in the Late Georgian style. It has a metal gable roof and two interior end chimneys. The interior features original woodwork. The house was restored in 1969–1971. Also on the property are a contributing brick storehouse, a frame kitchen with a stone chimney, and a frame quarters also with a stone chimney. The property features a panorama of the Peaks of Otter. Fancy Farm was used as the headquarters of Union General David Hunter in his Lynchburg campaign during the Valley Campaigns of 1864.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
