Red Hill, Hampshire

Four Marks is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 4.4 miles (7.1 km) southwest of Alton, on the A31 road. It is situated on the borders of the South Downs National Park on the Pilgrims' Way that leads from Winchester to Canterbury. It contains within it the medieval hamlets of Kitwood, Hawthorn and Lymington, although now the whole parish is relatively closely settled.

Medstead and Four Marks railway station is a railway station in the English county of Hampshire, serving the villages of Medstead and Four Marks. At 644 ft above sea level, it is currently (2016) the highest operational standard-gauge railway station in Southern England.

King's Hill is one of the highest points in the county of Hampshire, England. It is part of the Hampshire Downs and reaches 218 metres (715 ft) above sea level. Its prominence of 46 metres qualifies it as one of England's TuMPs. King's Hill is situated in the parish of Bentworth. It lies on the Abbey Road between the villages of Medstead and Beech. To the northeast is Alton Abbey. Chawton Park Wood lies to the south of the open hilltop.

Alton Abbey is an Anglican Benedictine monastery (founded in 1895) in the village of Beech, near Alton, Hampshire, England. The abbey is not far from one of Hampshire's highest points, King's Hill (218 m). The community was founded by the Revd Charles Plomer Hopkins in 1884, as the "Society of Saint Paul", in Rangoon (Burma) and Calcutta (India) to work with destitute or distressed merchant seafarers and their chaplains. Noted for its beauty and tranquility, Alton Abbey has been described in The Times as "the best-kept secret in the Church of England",

St Swithun's Way is a 34-mile (55 km) long-distance footpath in England from Winchester Cathedral, Hampshire to Farnham, Surrey. It is named after Swithun, a 9th-century Bishop of Winchester, and roughly follows the Winchester to Farnham stretch of the Pilgrims' Way. The route was opened in 2002 to mark the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II.

Kitwood is a hamlet in the parish of Four Marks, Hampshire, England. It is in the south east of the Parish and has been part of Four Marks since its creation in 1932. Prior to this, it was part of Ropley Parish. Although the settlement was located at the junction of Kitwood road and Swelling, as is visible in older maps, the settlement now spreads all the way from Swelling hill pond to Kitwood farm near Hawthorn Road.

Wivelrod is a hamlet in the large civil parish of Bentworth in Hampshire, England. The nearest town is Alton, about 2.8 miles (4.5 km) to the east. At a spot height of 712 feet (217 m), it is one of the highest settlements in Hampshire. The nearest railway station is Alton which is 3.5 miles (5.6 km) to the east. Until 1932 it was the Bentworth and Lasham railway station on the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway. The area was inhabited in ancient times and some Tumuli and Burial Mounds are on Wivelrod Hill. Also, at Wivelrod House, finds include Pottery, bone objects, spindle-whorls (stone discs with a hole in the middle used in spinning thread) and fragments of Roman roofing tiles.

Medstead is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Alton, which lies 4.3 miles (6.9 km) northeast of the village. According to the 2011 census, the village had a population of 2,036 people. The parish covers an area of 1,536 acres (622 ha) and has an average elevation of approximately 600 feet (180 m) above sea level. One of the county's high points at 716 feet (218 m), King's Hill, runs through Medstead and Bentworth. The earliest evidence of settlement in the village comes from two Tumuli burial grounds which date from 1000 BC. Roman pottery and coins have also been found in the area. A chapel in the village was first mentioned in the Domesday Survey of 1086 and was soon replaced by a Norman church. The village has six Grade II listed buildings, including the 12th century St Andrew's Church and its war memorial, a farmhouse and a Victorian wheelhouse with a working donkey wheel. Medstead was one of the first villages in the United Kingdom to receive broadband. The parish contains three individual hamlets; South Town, Soldridge and Hattingley. Medstead also has its own restored railway station on the Watercress Line, services from which connect with the nearest national rail station 4.6 miles (7.4 km) at Alton railway station.

New Copse is a hamlet in the large civil parish of Bentworth in Hampshire, England. The nearest town is Alton, which lies approximately 3.7 miles (6.0 km) to the northeast. The hamlet is often confused with neighbouring Holt End, which also lies in Bentworth. The nearest railway station is Alton which is 4.4 miles (7.1 km) to the northeast. Thedden is a hamlet in the large civil parish of Bentworth in Hampshire, England, about 1.3 miles (2.1 km) south east of the centre of Bentworth village. Its nearest town is Alton, about 3.5 miles (5.1 km) east of Thedden. The nearest railway station is Alton which is 3.5 miles (5 km) to the east. Until 1932 it was the Bentworth and Lasham railway station on the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway, until its closure in 1932.Thedden Grange is a large country house, the area originally being part of the Bentworth Hall estate. During the Second World War it was used as a prisoner of war camp.
