Archambault Institution (French: Établissement Archambault) is a prison of the Correctional Service of Canada in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec. Its minimum security unit opened in 1968 and its medium security unit opened in 1969; the capacities respectively are 165 and 284.

Blainville is a provincial electoral district in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It contains the city of Blainville and two other smaller municipalities. It was created for the 1994 election from Groulx and Terrebonne electoral districts. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost a part of the city of Blainville to Groulx electoral district; previously, the entire city was within Blainville electoral district. Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines is a city in southwestern Quebec, Canada, 40 km northwest of the city of Montreal in the Thérèse-De Blainville Regional County Municipality, in the region of Laurentides. Its population was 14,990 during the census of 2014.The city has the Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Complex of the Correctional Service of Canada, which includes the Regional Reception Centre (multi-level security), housing Special Handling Unit (SHU), Canada's highest-security unit; Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Institution (maximum security), and the Regional Mental Health Centre (multi). It also has the Archambault Institution.

The Sainte Sophie landfill is located in Ste. Sophie, Quebec, north of Montreal. Initially operated by Intersan since 1997, it is now operated by Waste Management and collects approximately 850,000 metric tonnes (937,000 tons) of waste annually. The bioreactor landfill is located on a 30-acre (120,000 m2), double-lined corner of the permitted landfill site. Along with the Lachenaie landfill, these two sites collect garbage for the Greater Montreal Area.The Sainte Sophie landfill consists of 736 acres (2.98 km2) and is approximately 50 km north of Montreal, Quebec. It is located on 2535 1re rue, Ste Sophie, QC J5J 2R7. Its hours are Monday to Friday 4:00 am to 6:00 pm. The site has a gas-to-energy project with Gaz Metro, Quebec's leading natural gas distributor, and Cascades Inc., one of Canada's largest pulp and paper companies. By using these techniques, waste capacity in a typical landfill can be increased by at least 15 to 30 percent. In 2003, Waste Management implemented a bioreactor operation at the Sainte Sophie landfill, a method of increasing the moisture content of the landfill waste to speed up decomposition and thus produce gas more quickly. to test its environmental and economic benefits. In 2005, the Quebec government approved the expansion of the Sainte Sophie landfill to give it an annual capacity of one million tonnes.

Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) Flight 831 was a flight from Montréal–Dorval International Airport to Toronto International Airport on November 29, 1963. About five minutes after takeoff in poor weather, the jet crashed about 32 km (20 mi) north of Montreal, near Ste-Thérèse-de-Blainville, Quebec, Canada, killing all 111 passengers and seven crew members. The crash was the deadliest in Canadian history at the time. It was also the deadliest crash of a DC-8 at the time, and, as of 2022, the sixth-deadliest.

Thérèse-De Blainville is a regional county municipality in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada. It is located immediately north of Laval on the north shore of the Rivière des Mille-Îles. The population according to the 2016 Canadian Census was 157,103.
