Blainville is a provincial electoral district in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It contains the city of Blainville and two other smaller municipalities. It was created for the 1994 election from Groulx and Terrebonne electoral districts. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost a part of the city of Blainville to Groulx electoral district; previously, the entire city was within Blainville electoral district. In the change from the 2011 to 2017 electoral map, the riding lost Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines to the new riding of Les Plaines and gained the Saint-Rédempteur neighbourhood of Blainville from Groulx.

It is near the southern limit of a web of cross-country ski trails which meander through the Laurentides. Heading north, it is possible to undertake several nature-filled days of skiing towards major resort centres such as Mont-Tremblant. During the summer, many of the ski trails are used as dedicated bicycle paths, making it possible to undertake day-long or week-long cycling excursions through unspoiled areas, from one resort area to another, without sharing the right of way with motorized vehicles.

The North Shore (French: Rive-Nord) is the general term for the northern suburbs of Montreal. The North Shore is located in southwestern Quebec on the northern shores of the Rivière des Prairies and the Rivière des Mille Îles, opposite the Island of Montreal and Île Jésus (the city of Laval). It consists of twenty municipalities that belong to the Laurentides and Lanaudière administrative regions. While the city of Laval is commonly associated with the North Shore, it is not considered part of the North Shore because of its status as an island.
