Electoral district of Kyneton Boroughs

Kyneton was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria centred on Kyneton from 1889 to 1904.The Electoral district of Kyneton Boroughs (1856–1889) preceded the district of Kyneton. Charles Young was the last member for Kyneton Boroughs, representing the district from 1874 until its abolition in 1889. Kyneton was abolished in the 1904 redistribution when several new districts were created or re-created including the Electoral district of Dalhousie. Reginald Argyle, the last member for Kyneton, represented Dalhousie 1904–1914.

The Shire of Kyneton was a local government area about 85 kilometres (53 mi) northwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 725.2 square kilometres (280.0 sq mi), and existed from 1859 until 1995.

Kyneton ( KYNE-tən) is a town in the Macedon Ranges region of West Central Victoria, Australia. The Calder Freeway bypasses Kyneton to the north and east. Kyneton is on Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country. The town has three main streets: Mollison Street, Piper Street and High Street. Piper Street has the oldest streetscape of these, and still has many of its original buildings. The railway station, about 86 kilometres (53 mi) from Melbourne on the Deniliquin railway line, is a terminus for two weekday peak-hour trains. The town is the council seat of the Shire of Macedon Ranges. At the 2021 census, Kyneton recorded a population of 7,513.

Redesdale Junction was a railway station and junction for the Redesdale line near Kyneton in Victoria, Australia. The junction employed a station master, porter, assistant gatekeeper and ganger. A post office operated from the junction until the station master position was abolished in 1930. The junction was an important centre for the small community. In 1918 the station master was given a lavish farewell and a marble clock when it was announced he was being transferred.The sandstone used for the Shrine of Remembrance was quarried nearby and taken by train to Melbourne via Redesdale Junction.

Kyneton Post Office is a heritage-listed post office at 113 Mollison Street, Kyneton, Victoria, Australia. It was designed by Peter Kerr of the colonial Public Works Department and built in 1870–71. It was added to the Australian Commonwealth Heritage List on 8 November 2011.

Kyneton railway station is located on the Deniliquin line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the town of Kyneton, and opened on 25 April 1862.The station is served by V/Line Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill line trains, with some peak-hour services to and from Melbourne terminating here. Between 1977 and 1979, the Kyneton Provender Coy Siding and Watson's Siding were both abolished.In August 1990, a number of sidings, crossovers, signal posts and the goods shed and goods platform track were all abolished.The station was upgraded as part of the Regional Fast Rail project in 2005, with the platforms re-aligned, the manual interlocking frame and level crossing gates decommissioned, and remote-controlled computer-based signalling provided. Also as part of the project, the double-track line between Kyneton and Bendigo was singled.The disused Carlsruhe railway station is located between Kyneton and Woodend. A demolished station was located at Redesdale Junction, between Kyneton and Malmsbury.

Kyneton High School is a secondary school in Kyneton, Victoria, Australia, approximately 90 km north of Melbourne. It was built in 1912, and opened in 1928 under the name of Kyneton High School.

Greenhill Windmill is a traditional masonry tower windmill, built in 1856 at Greenhill Farm near Kyneton, Victoria, Australia. Joseph Hall (1804-21 August 1871) and William Hoad purchased thirty hectares of farm land located on Metcalfe Road, Green Hill, at the original Crown sales in 1855. The following year they erected the windmill, using bluestone quarried on their property.Joseph Hall was born at Dacre, Kirkoswald, Cumberland, England, and married Annie Walton on 23 July 1831 at Kirkoswald. He became a local Kyneton pioneer who resided for a time at Sunbury Lodge prior to moving to Windmill Farm and then lived Park Hall, Lauriston where he died on 21 August 1871.The property was bequeathed to the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) in 1984. is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register (H0311) and Shire of Metcalf Heritage Overlay (HO127) and is classified by the National Trust.The mill is located at 1203 Kyneton-Metcalfe Road, Kyneton, Victoria 3444 External photo [1]

Lauriston Reservoir is a reservoir in Victoria, Australia, with a maximum capacity of 19,800 megalitres. The dam that created it, located 9 km west of Kyneton along Lauriston Reservoir Road, was constructed from 1938 to 1941 and has a spillway that measures 77 metres. The site is a popular picnic ground as one can fish there (although not from the dam structure itself), and barbecue facilities are available. The reservoir is known to contain redfin perch, rainbow and brown trout, roach and cod. The picnic and BBQ area near the dam wall at the end of Lauriston Reservoir Road are now free.

Lauriston is a locality in Victoria, Australia. It is situated on the Coliban River, in a gully 8 kilometres (5 mi) west of Kyneton. The Lauriston Reservoir, (which serves Kyneton), is 2 kilometres (1 mi) south east of the town. At the 2016 census, Lauriston had a population of 236.Lauriston Post Office opened on 1 July 1864 after gold was discovered in the area and closed in 1969. In 2019 Australian folk musician, Alana Wilkinson, recorded a single, "Partner in Crime", at the community's church.
