Gaulby (or Galby) is a village in Leicestershire, England, 7 miles east of the city of Leicester. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 131, (including Frisby). The 2011 census for Gaulby returned 52 houses and 141 residents.

Frisby is a hamlet and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire that lies approximately 7.3 miles (11.7 km) southeast of the city of Leicester, that is now largely a deserted medieval village. According to the University of Nottingham English Place-names project, the settlement name Frisby could mean 'farm/settlement of the Frisians'. The 2011 census for Frisby returned 5 houses and 16 residents. Often termed as Frisby by Gaulby (so as not to be confused with the nearby village of Frisby on the Wreake), the modern hamlet is situated between the village of Gaulby 1 mile (1.6 km) to the southwest and Billesdon 1.94 miles (3.12 km) to the northeast. The deserted part of the ancient hamlet is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and can be located on the eastern side of the lane that leads down the hill from Gaulby Road, via Frisby House on a south-eastwards direction. The earthwork "tofts & crofts" are still visible today, with foundations for two stone built buildings noted towards the center of the site (grid reference SK 70547 01602).

Little Stretton (otherwise Stretton Parva) is a small village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire that lies approximately 5.53 miles (8.90 km) southeast of the city of Leicester. The parish includes the deserted medieval village of Great Stretton, a Scheduled Ancient Monument that is located 0.7 miles (1.1 km) to the west of the village. The Gartree Road, a Roman Road, runs through the parish, adjacent to both Little and Great Stretton, and is the reason for those settlements' names (see: Stretton). According to the University of Nottingham English Place-names project, the settlement name Stretton means "strēt" (Anglian) for a Roman road; and "tūn" (Old English) for a settlement or an estate. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 92, with approximately 36 households.

Illston on the Hill is a small village and parish seven miles north of Market Harborough in the county of Leicestershire. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census (including Carlton Curlieu) was 179. The old part of Illston is a rare "dead end" village: literally, at the end of the road which leads to it. Illston has a small but thriving pub, drawing trade from several miles around, serving Everard's beers. The pub's walls are crowded with an eclectic array of rural memorabilia including mounted fox heads, stuffed animals and historic gin traps, as well as a number of cartoons by local resident Ed McLachlan (Private Eye, Punch, etc.). Illston also has a village hall available for rent. In the summer it hosts events including a Village Fete and 'Onion Sunday'.

Carlton Curlieu is a small village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, about eleven miles south-east of Leicester city centre, and not far from Kibworth. The village's name means 'farm/settlement of the free peasants'. In 1253, the village was held by William de Curley.

Carlton Curlieu Hall is a privately owned 17th-century country house at Carlton Curlieu, Leicestershire. It is the home of the Palmer family and is a Grade II* listed building.John Bale purchased land at Carlton Curlieu in 1549 and in 1575 his nephew and namesake acquired the Manor estate. His son, also John Bale, High Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1624, replaced the old manor house with the present house on the same site in 1636. The house which incorporates later alterations, presents an entrance front of five bays and three storeys with basements. The central and end bays protrude forward up to second storey height; the central serving as the Doric order columned entrance porch. The upper storey has five Dutch gables. Following the death in or before 1654 of Sir John Bale Bt the first and only Bale baronet, the house was sold in 1664 to Sir Geoffrey Palmer Bt of East Carlton Hall, Northamptonshire, Attorney General in 1660. The house became the principal seat of the Palmer family following the sale of East Carlton in 1933.

Burton Overy is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, about nine miles south-east of Leicester city centre, and not far from Great Glen. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 289., increasing at the 2011 census to 440 (including Little Stretton).In the year 2000, within the civil Parish, it has a population of 293 living in 129 households, eight working farms, a pub (The Bell), a new village hall and a thriving church community based in St. Andrew's Church.

Houghton on the Hill is a village and civil parish lying six miles (10 km) to the east of Leicester in the Harborough district, in Leicestershire, East Midlands in England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,524.An entry for Houghton on the Hill is recorded in the Domesday Book. In Dec 2007, the village made national news headlines, and was dubbed "the village of the scammed" when a large number of fraudulent credit card charges in the Far East were linked to the JET filling station. In Aug 2008, Sri-Lankan born cashier, Nyal Rajput, was jailed for two years and nine months after admitting to the charge of obtaining property by deception. A total of £175,000 was stolen in the scam, which affected almost every house in the village.

Billesdon was a rural district of Leicestershire, England. It originated with the Billesdon Poor Law Union, formed in 1835. In 1894 the area became a rural district. It was named for the village of Billesdon. In 1935 the rural district was decreased by the annexing of Humberstone, most of Evington, and some of Thurnby civil parishes to Leicester (with some small parts going to Oadby in 1936). It was further reduced in 1966 by the annexation of part of Scraptoft, Stoughton and Thurnby parishes. In 1974 it became part of the Harborough non-metropolitan district, along with the Lutterworth Rural District, Market Harborough Rural District, and Market Harborough urban districts.

Ingarsby railway station was a railway station in Ingarsby, Leicestershire, on the Great Northern Railway Leicester branch. It opened in 1882, and closed to regular passenger trains and goods on 7 December 1953 but a workmen's service continued until 29 April 1957 . To the west, about halfway to the next station at Thurnby, lies Ingarsby tunnel, 516 yards (472 metres) long. Although the correct spelling for the locality is Ingarsby, the station appeared in railway publications as "Ingersby", including Bradshaw for August 1887, July 1902, July 1922 and October 1931, as well as The Railway Clearing House Handbook of Railway Stations 1904. It appeared as "Ingarsby for Houghton" in Bradshaw for December 1944 and in the LNER timetable for May 6th 1946. It was advertised as the station for Houghton on the Hill. The station building survives today as a private residence.

Royal Air Force Leicester East, more commonly known as RAF Leicester East (ICAO: EGBG), is a former Royal Air Force station, near the village of Stoughton, 4 NM (7.4 km; 4.6 mi) east southeast of Leicester, Leicestershire, England. It was constructed in 1942 and formally opened in October 1943. The airfield is now Leicester Airport.

Leicester Airport (IATA: None, ICAO: EGBG) is an aerodrome located to the east of Stoughton, Leicestershire, England, about 5 nautical miles (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) east of Leicester City Centre by road. The Leicestershire Aero Club Limited, the airport operator, provide elementary flight training, experience flights and the airport is home to a wide variety of private aircraft. The airfield was constructed in 1942 as part of the former RAF station, RAF Leicester East. The facility was named Stoughton Aerodrome prior to 1974. The airport has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P720) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee—Leicestershire Aero Club Limited. However, the airport does not currently operate public transport services. Air Traffic Services, in the form of air-ground communication are provided by "Leicester Radio" on a frequency of 122.130 MHz.
