Jaworzno

The Sobieski coal mine is a large mine in the south of Poland in Jaworzno, Silesian Voivodeship, 350 km south-west of the capital, Warsaw. Sobieski represents one of the largest coal reserve in Poland having estimated reserves of 134.1 million tonnes of coal. The annual coal production is around 6.4 million tonnes.

The Jaworzno concentration camp was a concentration camp in WW2 German-occupied Poland and later in Communist Poland. It was first established by the Nazis in 1943 during the Second World War and was later used from 1945 to 1956 by the Soviet NKVD and then by the Ministry of Public Security and other agencies of the Polish communist regime. Today the site is an apartment complex and also houses a memorial to the camp's victims. Originally, it was established as a Nazi concentration camp called SS-Lager Dachsgrube ("SS Camp Dachsgrube) also known as Arbeitslager Neu-Dachs ("Work Camp Neu-Dachs") established during World War II by the Third Reich on the territory of German-occupied Poland in Jaworzno, Lesser Poland. The camp operated under the Nazi German administration from June 1943 until its evacuation in January 1945. After the communist takeover of Poland, the camp was reinstated and run first by the Soviet Union and then the People's Republic of Poland till 1956, mainly to intern the local German population, who had formed the region's majority population. During this period, it was renamed as the Central Labour Camp in Jaworzno (Centralny Obóz Pracy w Jaworznie, COP Jaworzno).

Szczakowa is a district of the Polish city of Jaworzno. It is located in the northern part of the city and is one of the most important rail hubs of the area. It was first mentioned in 1427 as Sczacowa. In the years 1933–1956, it was a separate town, but in 1956 it was merged into Jaworzno.During the German occupation (World War II), the occupiers operated the E732 forced labour subcamp of the Stalag VIII-B/344 prisoner-of-war camp for Allied POWs in Szczakowa.It is where the football club Szczakowianka Jaworzno comes and derives its name from.

Dziećkowice (German: Dzietzkowitz) is a dzielnica (district) of Mysłowice, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. It was previously an independent village, but was absorbed first by Tychy, and later in 1976 by Mysłowice.It has an area of 13.04 km2 and in 2012 had a population of 1,461.

The Jaworzno Power Station is a complex of coal-fired thermal power stations at Jaworzno, Poland. The largest plant of the Jaworzno power plant complex is called Jaworzno III. It has an installed electrical generating capacity of 1,345 MW, as well as thermal heating capacity of 321 MWt. About 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the east is Jaworzno II, with an installed electrical generating capacity of 200 MW.

Gmina Chełmek is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Oświęcim County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the town of Chełmek, which lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) north of Oświęcim and 50 km (31 mi) west of the regional capital Kraków. The gmina covers an area of 27.24 square kilometres (10.5 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 12,827 (out of which the population of Chełmek amounts to 9,065, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 3,762).

Chełmek [ˈxɛu̯mɛk] is a town in Lesser Poland Voivodeship in southern Poland. In 1975–1998 it belonged to Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship. As of December 2021, it has 8,810 inhabitants. Previously known for the Chełmek Shoe Factory, which until 1947 was part of Bata Shoes. Chełmek lies in the wetland area along the Przemsza river, at the foot of the Skała hill (293 meters above sea level). The town is surrounded by forests.

Imielin [iˈmʲɛlʲin] (German: Immenau O.S.) is a town in Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice. Borders on the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union – metropolis with the population of 2 million. It is located in the Silesian Highlands. The population of the town is 9098 (2021).

Strzemieszyce Wielkie (Hebrew: סצ'אמישיצה ויאלקה ) – a district (dzielnica) of Dąbrowa Górnicza (since 1975) in the Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. Located between the districts Reden and Strzemieszyce Małe, on the national road 94 between Katowice and Olkusz.

Brzezinka (Polish: [bʐɛˈʑiŋka]; German: Birkental) is a dzielnica (district) of Mysłowice, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. It was previously an independent village and gmina, but was absorbed by Mysłowice in 1951.It has an area of 6.69 km2 and in 2012 had a population of 5,146.

Chełm Mały (Polish pronunciation: [xɛwm ˈmawɨ]) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Chełm Śląski, within Bieruń-Lędziny County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) east of Chełm Śląski, 10 km (6 mi) east of Bieruń, and 23 km (14 mi) south-east of the regional capital Katowice.
