Schoharie Creek is a river in New York that flows north 93 miles (150 km) from the foot of Indian Head Mountain in the Catskills through the Schoharie Valley to the Mohawk River. It is twice impounded north of Prattsville to create New York City's Schoharie Reservoir and the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project. During the American Revolutionary War, Iroquois Indian attacks against the cluster of farms in the valley of the Cobleskill Creek tributary was the site of the Cobleskill Massacre (May 1778), virtually depopulating Europeansettlements in the southern Mohawk valley. News of this and two other mixed Tory-Indian guerrilla attacks led to an appropriation of funds for the Sullivan Expedition, dispatched by General Washington in 1779 to retaliate against the Iroquois andbreak the threat of Indian raids. The Erie Canal crossed over the creek by an aqueduct at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site. Two notable bridge collapses have occurred on Schoharie Creek. In 1987, two spans of the New York State Thruway collapsed. On August 28, 2011, the covered Old Blenheim Bridge collapsed due to flooding from Hurricane Irene.

Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site, also known as Erie Canal National Historic Landmark, is a historic district that includes the ruins of the Erie Canal aqueduct over Schoharie Creek, and a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) long part of the Erie Canal, in the towns of Glen and Florida within Montgomery County, New York. It was the first part of the old canal to be designated a National Historic Landmark, prior to the designation of the entire New York State Barge Canal as an NHL in 2017.

Fort Hunter is a hamlet in the Town of Florida in Montgomery County, New York, United States, west of the capital at Albany, on the south bank of the Mohawk River and on the northeast bank of Schoharie Creek. The hamlet, developed around a fort of the same name, was built by English colonists in 1712 near the Mohawk village of Tionondoroge for their defense. Queen Anne ordered the fort built at the request of the Mohawk, in exchange for their allowing her to settle German Palatines in their territory. The English called the Mohawk settlement the Lower Mohawk Castle. Within a few years, the fort included an Anglican chapel, first built in logs and replaced by a stone church in 1741. It was a mission church for the Mohawk in addition to English settlers. The fort survived the wars in the region; it was taken down in 1820 to make way for construction of the Erie Canal.

Tribes Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Towns of Mohawk (80%) and Amsterdam (20%) in Montgomery County, New York, United States. The population was 1,003 at the 2010 census. One theory is the name is based on this location having been a gathering spot for the Mohawk nation, the dominant Iroquois tribe in the area during colonial times. Tribes Hill spans the border of the Town of Mohawk and Town of Amsterdam, approximately five miles west of the City of Amsterdam on Route 5.

The Schoharie Creek Bridge was a New York State Thruway (I-90) bridge over the Schoharie Creek near Fort Hunter and the Mohawk River in New York State. On April 5, 1987, it collapsed due to bridge scour at the foundations after a record rainfall. The collapse killed ten people. The replacement bridge was completed and fully open to traffic on May 21, 1988.The failure of the Schoharie Creek Bridge motivated improvement in bridge design and inspection procedures within New York and beyond.

Glen Historic District is a national historic district located at Glen in Montgomery County, New York. It includes 52 contributing buildings and two contributing sites. The district encompasses the historic core of a rural crossroads hamlet. The majority of the structures are one and one half or two story, timber-framed buildings with gable roofs. At the crossroads are the most distinguished buildings: two large Federal style residences, a mid-19th century general store, and a distinguished, Second Empire style brick residence built in 1878.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Walter Butler Homestead, also known as Butlersbury, is a historic home located near Fonda in Montgomery County, New York. It is a 1+1⁄2-story, 40-foot-long, 30-foot-wide, 18th-century farmhouse. It has a limestone block foundation and cellar and attic. The dwelling was built by Lt. Walter Butler (ca. 1670–1760), father of John Butler (1728-1796).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
