Pallavaram

Pallavaram is a state assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu, India, that was formed after constituency delimitation in 2007. Its State Assembly Constituency number is 30. Located in Chengalpattu district, it is included in the Sriperumbudur parliamentary constituency for national elections. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu in India. It includes all areas in Zone 1 and Zone 2 of Tambaram City Municipal Corporation, Hashinapuram and Nemilicherry villages in Zone 3 of Tambaram City Municipal Corporation, Ward 158 in Zone 12 of Greater Chennai Corporation (Meenambakkam) and Pozhichalur and Tirusulam Villages in St.Thomas Mount Panchayat Union.

Pallavaram railway station is one of the railway stations of the Chennai Beach–Chengelpet section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhood of Pallavaram, Pammal, Nagalkeni, Anakaputhur, Pozhichalur, Cowl Bazaar, Kolapakkam, Gerugambakkam, Kovoor, Thandalam, Tharapakkam, Thiruneermalai, Kundrathur, Mangadu, and Keelkattalai. It is situated about 23 km (14 mi) from Chennai Beach, and has an elevation of 4 m (13 ft) above sea level.

Pallavaram Lake, also known as Periya aeri (Big lake) or Pallavaram aeri, is situated along Pallavaram Thuraipakkam Radial Road. It used to be a large lake, but it dried up and was polluted by industrial wastewater and garbage. A burial site remains and is used for burial rites.

Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies (VISTAS) is an institute of higher education located in Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1992 and granted Deemed University status in 2008 by University Grants Commission under section 3 of UGC Act 1956.

Chromepet votes for the Sriperumbudur parliamentary constituency in the Indian national elections.

Pammal is a suburban neighbourhood of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located 22 kilometers from Chennai Central Railway Station. It is located next to Pallavaram on the western side. It lies on the western side of the Grand Southern Trunk Road (GST Road) and close to Chennai International Airport. It is 7 kilometers away from Tambaram. The neighborhood is served by Pallavaram Railway Station of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. Pammal falls under Chengalpattu District. Pallavaram–Thuraipakkam 200-feet Radial Road connects Pammal with Thuraipakkam and other areas in OMR (Rajiv Gandhi Salai) and ECR (East Coast Road). The service road along the Chennai Bypass Flyover in Pammal connects many areas with Pammal. The Chennai Outer Ring Road is 5 km from Pammal. Tambaram Railway Station Terminal is 7 kilometers and is a halt for express trains and 12 km from Poonamallee. Leather and tannery factories are present in and around Pammal, which are labour-intensive and employ many people. Pammal Sambandha Mudaliar, the father of modern Tamil theatre, was born in Pammal.

Tirusoolanathar Tripurasundari Temple, also known as the Tirusoolanathar Temple, is a Hindu temple located in Tirusulam, a suburb of Chennai, India. The presiding deity is Shiva. The goddess is Tirupurasundari. The temple has inscriptions dating from the Pallava period.

Srimathi Sundaravalli Memorial School (or SSM) is located in Nagappa Nagar, Chrompet, Chennai, India.A second school was started in perungaluthur in 2012 which now hosts class PreKG to 12. It is located 13 km from the main school. The school follows CBSE standard of education. The school is named after Smt. Sundaravalli, mother of the founder Mr. K. Santhanam. The school was inaugurated on 11 June 1986 by the educationist the late Kulapathi Dr. Balakrishna Joshi in the presence of Sri Varadha Ethiraja Jeer Swami of Sriperumbudur. The faculty is well trained and said to have many teachers who hold masters degree which is rare in other Indian Schools The school trains the students in fine arts: keyboard, vocal, mridangam, veena, photography, bharatanatyam, violin and arts and crafts. There are two periods per week for classes 6 and above. Three periods for classes 3 to 5 of the same per week.

Nagappa Nagar is a colony in Chromepet, Chennai; it is a development which lies beyond New Colony to the west. Once empty land owned by the Chrome Leather Company, it was sold to builders and the entire land has been developed. Years of Developments : From 1984 till date. It is now a predominantly residential colony with around 300 houses/flats and it is a good suburban colony of Chennai. Most of the plots are individual houses with some apartments too. Srimathi Sundravalli Memorial School is also part of the colony which was developed along with the colony in 1986. There are few departmental stores in it which serves the colony needs. Chandran Nagar, New Colony, Nagalkeni and Lakshmipuram are the colonies near Nagappa Nagar.There are well established roads, Underground sewage & drinking water supply. Many Doctors / Specialists are residing and practising in this locality. Skin specialist, Homoeopathy specialists, Child specialists etc. are practising here. The ground water is contaminated in most of this area, by the surrounding leather tanneries in this area. Only a few exceptions are there. This area comes under Pallavaram assembly constituency of Tamil Nadu. A resident association (registered with the govt of Tamil Nadu) works with the residents and provides security arrangements by employing night watchmen and also facilitates cleaning of roads by working with the Thiruneermalai panchayat.

Pozhichalur (also commonly spelled as Polichalur) is a census town in Chennai metropolitan city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a suburb of Chennai and is located close to the Chennai Airport at Tirusulam on its south west side. It lies on the south banks of the Adyar River. Agasteeswarar Temple, which is called North Thirunallaru, is situated there. The neighborhood is served by Pallavaram Railway Station of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network.

The Chennai International Airport Metro Station is a metro railway station on the Blue Line of the Chennai Metro. The station serves the Chennai International Airport and the neighbourhoods of Meenambakkam, Tirusulam, Pallavaram and Pammal. The station is the only elevated airport metro station in India. The other airport metro stations in the country such as those in Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and the proposed ones at Bangalore and Hyderabad are underground. The station enables rapid transit connectivity with the airport, making Chennai the second city in India after Delhi to achieve this.
