O'Connor is an affluent suburb of Canberra, Australia in the North Canberra district characterised by its leafy, heritage listed streets. It was named after Richard Edward O'Connor (1851–1912), who was a judge in the High Court and a founder of the Australian constitution. Street names in O'Connor are named after explorers, Australian flora, legislators and pioneers. The suburb name was gazetted on 20 September 1928.O'Connor is bounded by Wattle and David streets, and also includes the Bruce/O'Connor ridge nature reserve, the hilly area with many trees that lies between the houses in O'Connor, and the Australian Institute of Sport (in the suburb of Bruce). Sports such as soccer, rugby and cricket are often played at the ovals at O'Connor district playing fields. O'Connor has a small shopping centre with a pub/bar, small grocery store, a couple of restaurants and a pharmacy.

Canberra Olympic FC is an Australian semi-professional Association football club based in the suburb of O'Connor in the north of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The club was founded in 1956, and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Capital Football.

Turner is a suburb in the Australian city of Canberra, close to Canberra City and the Australian National University (located in the suburb of Acton). Turner is named after Sir George Turner, a Federalist, legislator and one of the founders of the Australian Constitution. He was the 18th Premier of Victoria, and later Federal Treasurer under prime ministers Barton, Deakin and Reid. Streets in Turner are mostly named after writers, legislators and pioneers.

Tilley's Devine Café Gallery is a well-known café in the suburb of Lyneham in Canberra, Australia. It was named after Matilda 'Tilly' Devine, an English Australian gangster and madame from Sydney. When the café first opened in 1984, it was intended as a women's space, with men allowed entry only when accompanied by women. Popular with lesbian women, it quickly became an icon of Canberra's LGBT scene. Attempts to restrict or limit entry of men brought challenges, most notably by a group of cadets from the Royal Military College, Duntroon who attempted to force their way in, instigating a brawl. The policy was maintained for two years.Tilley's originally had seating for 60, but subsequently expanded five times, and now has large indoor and outdoor eating areas. It was once a popular space for night time concerts by local musicians, hosting names such as Wayne Kelly, Mia Dyson, Frente!, and Clare Bowditch. In 2005 concerts were scaled back in order to expand the more financially viable restaurant and café. According to ACT historian Roslyn Russell, it was the first licensed outdoor venue in Australia, and the first Australian bar to ban smoking indoors.

Lyneham Primary School is a primary school in Canberra founded in 1959 located in the suburb of Lyneham. Lyneham and Downer Preschools nearby, are also run by the school. The school has an enrolment of some 515 students (as of 2018) and takes students from the school priority enrolment area of Lyneham, O'Connor, Downer, Turner, and Dickson area. The school was opened in 1959 and, being a short distance from the historic Yass to Queanbeyan road, took students from both Canberra and nearby New South Wales villages. In 1969 most of the school was destroyed by fire and classes were dispersed to nearby schools. The infants department returned to the school in late 1970 while the primary department returned in 1971. The fire was reviewed by the Australian Auditor-General, which led to criticisms of the standards of fire alarm installation in Commonwealth-controlled schools. By 1973, the Australian Parliament's Public Accounts Committee examined the outcomes of the fire for a second time, and indicated that the blaze had led Australian government departments to reclassify school buildings as special purpose buildings, commence installation of thermal fire protection systems in all schools, and examine suitable burglar alarm systems.

Bruce Hall is a residential college of the Australian National University (ANU), in Canberra, Australia. Opened in 1961, the original Bruce Hall was a campus landmark and housed both the first undergraduate hall of residence at the university and the first in Australia to admit both men and women. The college has produced notable alumni across a range of fields. The Hall's motto is "Felix Qui Potuit Rerum Cognoscere Causas" which means "Happy is he who is able to discover the reason for things". In April 2017, following an extended battle against alumni and heritage groups, the ANU obtained final approval for demolition of Bruce Hall's historic buildings. Alumni condemned the decision.In February 2019 the ANU opened the renewed Bruce Hall alongside a new residence, Wright Hall, both on the site of the original residence.

Ipima Street is a light rail station in Australia on the Canberra Metro R1 Civic to Gungahlin line, located at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue, Ipima Street and Condamine Street. It is one of two stations serving the suburbs of Turner and Braddon and sits outside a large student accommodation complex (formerly Fenner Hall, historically linked to the Australian National University). Bicycle racks are provided for commuters adjacent to the station.

Macarthur Avenue is a light rail station on the Canberra Metro R1 Civic to Gungahlin line, located at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue, Macarthur Avenue and Wakefield Avenue. This is a major intersection bordering the suburbs of Dickson, Braddon, Turner and Lyneham. Priority for light rail vehicles arriving and departing from the station has increased traffic congestion for vehicles waiting to cross Northbourne Avenue since the line began operating. The station provides bicycle racks, however there are no "kiss and ride" or dedicated parking areas for commuters.The station has been identified by the ACT Government as the centre of a future "urban hub", with the surrounding blocks zoned to allow mixed-use redevelopment, more active street frontages and better pedestrian amenities. Prior to completion of the line, Northbourne House, a former office building was repurposed as a Mantra hotel.

Australian National University Football Club (more commonly known as ANU FC) is an Australian amateur association football club representing the Australian National University based in Acton, Australian Capital Territory. Founded in 1962, the club is inclusive of both current and graduated students and currently competes in the ACT National Premier Leagues 2.

The ANU Medical School (ANUMS) is a graduate medical school of the Australian National University, a public university located in Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory. Established in November 2003 following accreditation by the Australian Medical Council (AMC), ANUMS commenced offering studies in the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S.) (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus et Chirurgiae Baccalaureus) program and, under the leadership of the Foundation Dean, Professor Paul Gatenby, the first cohort of students commenced in February 2004. In January 2014 the AMC approved the ANU Medical School changing its medical program to the award of the MChD (Latin: Medicinae ac Chirurgiae Doctoranda) program. The current Dean of Medicine is Professor Imogen Mitchell and Deputy Dean of Medicine Professor Zsuzsoka Kecskes.

Haig Park is a park in the suburbs of Braddon and Turner in Canberra, Australia. It lies on either side of Northbourne Avenue. The park is named to honour Earl Haig, the Commander-in-Chief of the British Expeditionary Forces during the First World War, spans the distance between Mount Ainslie and Black Mountain. The park comprises fourteen rows of trees planted to form a windbreak and shelterbelt. The majority of planting was in 1921, when Canberra's first Superintendent, Parks and Gardens, Charles Weston, planted over 7000 trees, predominantly exotic.According to the ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate, the park was designated a public park in 1987 and it has been classified by the National Trust. The park is also listed on the ACT Heritage register.In 2012 the ACT Government prepared a master plan for Haig Park.

Lyneham () is a suburb of Canberra, Australia in the North Canberra district. It is named after Sir William Lyne, premier of New South Wales from 1899 to 1901. The suburb name was gazetted in 1928, but development did not commence until 1958. The streets of Lyneham are named after artists and people associated with the development of early Canberra.
