Brindabella Christian College (BCC) is a private non-denominational Christian co-educational early learning, primary and secondary day school, located in the Canberra suburbs of Charnwood and Lyneham, in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Established in 1980 as O’Connor Christian School, the school delivers a religious and general education for children from early learning, to Kindergarten through to Year 12.

Lyneham High School is a public secondary school in the Australian capital of Canberra that was founded in 1959. Located in the suburb of Lyneham, it is one of the only large public high schools in the immediate area. The school has a performing arts programs which includes concert and jazz bands, performance-based music classes and drama and dance classes.

Lyneham Primary School is a primary school in Canberra founded in 1959 located in the suburb of Lyneham. Lyneham and Downer Preschools nearby, are also run by the school. The school has an enrolment of some 515 students (as of 2018) and takes students from the school priority enrolment area of Lyneham, O'Connor, Downer, Turner, and Dickson area. The school was opened in 1959 and, being a short distance from the historic Yass to Queanbeyan road, took students from both Canberra and nearby New South Wales villages. In 1969 most of the school was destroyed by fire and classes were dispersed to nearby schools. The infants department returned to the school in late 1970 while the primary department returned in 1971. The fire was reviewed by the Australian Auditor-General, which led to criticisms of the standards of fire alarm installation in Commonwealth-controlled schools. By 1973, the Australian Parliament's Public Accounts Committee examined the outcomes of the fire for a second time, and indicated that the blaze had led Australian government departments to reclassify school buildings as special purpose buildings, commence installation of thermal fire protection systems in all schools, and examine suitable burglar alarm systems.

Dickson Interchange is a transport interchange in Dickson, an inner-northern suburb of Canberra. The interchange allows transfers between the Canberra Metro light rail network and local ACTION bus services. As part of the construction of the Civic to Gungahlin light rail line, a new $4 million bus interchange opened in 2018. The interchange was built on land compulsorily acquired by the ACT Government in 2015, the terms of which were not disclosed to the public. Construction allowed direct access for bus and pedestrian traffic between Northbourne Avenue and Challis Street, as well as accommodation for up to nine local bus routes, a new taxi rank, kiss and ride facilities and signalised pedestrian crossings. The new facilities became an important connection point for commuters under a redesigned timetable that integrated bus and light rail services in early 2019.Between the station's opening and February 2020, 11% of all light rail passengers boarded or alighted at Dickson Interchange, making it the busiest intermediate station on the line.

Tilley's Devine Café Gallery is a well-known café in the suburb of Lyneham in Canberra, Australia. It was named after Matilda 'Tilly' Devine, an English Australian gangster and madame from Sydney. When the café first opened in 1984, it was intended as a women's space, with men allowed entry only when accompanied by women. Popular with lesbian women, it quickly became an icon of Canberra's LGBT scene. Attempts to restrict or limit entry of men brought challenges, most notably by a group of cadets from the Royal Military College, Duntroon who attempted to force their way in, instigating a brawl. The policy was maintained for two years.Tilley's originally had seating for 60, but subsequently expanded five times, and now has large indoor and outdoor eating areas. It was once a popular space for night time concerts by local musicians, hosting names such as Wayne Kelly, Mia Dyson, Frente!, and Clare Bowditch. In 2005 concerts were scaled back in order to expand the more financially viable restaurant and café. According to ACT historian Roslyn Russell, it was the first licensed outdoor venue in Australia, and the first Australian bar to ban smoking indoors.

The National Hockey Centre, is a government owned outdoor field hockey stadium located in Lyneham, a northern suburb of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. It offers three international standard water-based hockey pitches which are used for both international and domestic competition, as well as training activities.The stadium is home to the Canberra Chill men's and women's hockey teams in Hockey Australia's premier domestic league, the Sultana Bran Hockey One League.

The Old Canberra Inn is one of the earliest licensed pubs in the Canberra region, Australia. The building pre-dates the city itself. It is located in the present-day suburb of Lyneham. The original slab hut was built in 1857 by Joseph Schumack and in 1876 it was licensed as an inn. It was a coach stop on the Yass to Queanbeyan run until 1887 when it was sold to John Read. It became the Read family home until 1974, called The Pines until it was renovated and relicensed as the Old Canberra Inn. The Old Canberra Inn is well known for its craft beers, with their 10 beer taps exclusively serving Australian independent craft beer.

Swinden Street is a light rail station in Australia on the Canberra Metro R1 Civic to Gungahlin line, located on Northbourne Avenue at the intersection of Swinden Street, opposite the Lyneham sports complex. The station serves the suburbs of Lyneham and Downer, with a small dedicated park and ride that opened in December 2020. Bicycle racks are also provided for commuters adjacent to the station.

The Dickson Centre, located in the suburb of Dickson, is a group centre in the inner northern suburbs of Canberra. The centre is the main commercial centre for the inner northern suburbs, after Civic, and is a significant site of employment. A range of businesses, services and community facilities are located there as well as a high school: Daramalan College.

Daramalan College is a Roman Catholic high school in Canberra, Australia, located in the suburb of Dickson. It encompasses Year 7 to Year 12, in a co-educational environment. Run by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, it has an emblem of a red eagle on a black shield. Its theme colours are red and black.

Macarthur Avenue is a light rail station on the Canberra Metro R1 Civic to Gungahlin line, located at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue, Macarthur Avenue and Wakefield Avenue. This is a major intersection bordering the suburbs of Dickson, Braddon, Turner and Lyneham. Priority for light rail vehicles arriving and departing from the station has increased traffic congestion for vehicles waiting to cross Northbourne Avenue since the line began operating. The station provides bicycle racks, however there are no "kiss and ride" or dedicated parking areas for commuters.The station has been identified by the ACT Government as the centre of a future "urban hub", with the surrounding blocks zoned to allow mixed-use redevelopment, more active street frontages and better pedestrian amenities. Prior to completion of the line, Northbourne House, a former office building was repurposed as a Mantra hotel.

Dickson is a suburb in the Inner North of Canberra, Australia. It is named after Sir James R. Dickson (1832–1901) who was a Queensland advocate of Australian Federation and one of the founders of the Australian Constitution. There is no specific theme for street names.
