Bedford Hills station

Bedford Hills is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Bedford, Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 3,001 at the 2010 census. Two New York State prisons for women, Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women and Taconic Correctional Facility, are located in the hamlet.

Stepping Stones is the historic home of Alcoholics Anonymous co-founder Bill Wilson (Bill W.) and his wife, co-founder of Al-Anon/Alateen Lois Wilson (Lois W.), in Bedford Hills, New York. The historic site features their house (a Dutch Colonial Revival structure from 1920); Bill W.'s writing studio, nicknamed "Wit's End"; approximately 15,000 objects (furniture, memorabilia, etc.) left by the Wilsons; a water pump house; the original one-car garage; a two-car garage and Welcome Center with an orientation display highlighting some of the 100,000 items in the Stepping Stones Archives; a flower garden; a community vegetable garden; and more. Lois left the property to The Stepping Stones Foundation - the nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that she founded in 1979. Since Mrs. Wilson's death in 1988 the Stepping Stones Foundation has maintained and preserved the site with the help of friends, and has offered on-site tours by reservation and off-site educational programs. The house at 62 Oak Road, Katonah, New York is on the state and National Register of Historic Places listings in Westchester County, New York.The New York Times quoted a former executive director of the site: We always say it’s not a successful tour unless at least one person cries.In 2012 it was designated a National Historic Landmark.

Montefiore Home Country Sanitarium was an American sanatorium located in Bedford Hills, Westchester County, New York. Opened in September 1897, it was under the same management as the Montefiore Home for Chronic Invalids at Manhattan, New York. The country sanitarium was situated in a sheltered situation on the Berkshire Hills, at an elevation of about 450 feet (140 m), and was 60 miles (97 km) from New York City or one and a half hours by rail.

Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, a women's prison in the town of Bedford, New York, is the largest New York State women's prison. The prison previously opened under the name Westfield State Farm in 1901. It lies just outside the hamlet and census-designated place Bedford Hills, New York.

Taconic Correctional Facility is a medium/minimum security women's prison in Bedford, New York operated by the New York State DOCCS. Although the prison has a maximum 387-person capacity, the incarcerated population was under 170 as of November, 2021.

Katonah Village Historic District is a national historic district located at Katonah, Westchester County, New York. The district contains 38 contributing buildings developed between 1895 and 1928 in "New Katonah." It is primarily residential, but also includes three churches and two combination residential-professional office space buildings. The street pattern was designed by the Olmsted Brothers and there are representative buildings in the Queen Anne and Late Victorian styles.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Richard H. Mandel House is a historic home located at Bedford Hills, Westchester County, New York. It was designed by architect Edward Durell Stone and built between 1933 and 1935 in the International style. It is a "Z"-shaped building sited overlooking the Croton Reservoir. It is a two-story, concrete block, steel frame, and stucco building with a partial basement recessed into the sloping site. Located on a lot of 21 acres, the house is almost 10,000 square feet with 7 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. It features a flat roof, smooth and uniform wall surfaces, lack of applied ornament, asymmetrical composition with an emphasis on horizontality, and projecting balconies and wide expanses of ribbon windows. The original owner was Richard Mandel (1907–1976), a member of the Mandel Brothers department store family of Chicago.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Katonah station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line, located in Katonah, New York. As is the case with Brewster, Katonah is not far from the Connecticut border and sees a sizeable number of commuters from Ridgefield using Katonah for commuting as opposed to the Danbury Branch of the New Haven Line given that Katonah gives a faster, direct trip to Grand Central. Similarly, Housatonic Area Regional Transit has a shuttle connecting Ridgefield to Katonah station during peak hours which also connects to Bee-Line Route 19 to Ossining. The station was also formerly known as Mechanicsville.

Stonecrest is a historic home located at Bedford Corners, Westchester County, New York. It was built in 1879 in an eclectic Stick-Eastlake style and renovated in 1916. It is a rectangular three-story dwelling, measuring 50 feet deep and 45 feet wide. The first story is built of random rubble and the second of wood shingles that flare away from the first floor. A slate covered hipped roof covers the third floor and attic. Also on the property are a contributing Stick Style carriage house, stone root cellar, and stone spring house.The house was built for Francis Lawrence Underhill and his wife, Mary Augusta (Wood) Underhill, a member of the locally prominent Wood family who were associated with the house of The Woodpile.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Woodpile is a historic family estate and national historic district located at Bedford, Westchester County, New York. The district contains 17 contributing buildings, four contributing sites, and nine contributing structures. The three primary residences are set on the east side of Croton Lake Road, one north of its junction with Wood Road and two south. All three look over a designed landscape on the west side of Croton Lake Road, which is part of the historic district. The oldest residence, known as Brambleworth, is a stone Gothic Revival cottage designed by A. J. Davis and completed in 1847. The middle residence, known as Evergreen Lawn, was built in 1856 and is in the Italian Villa style. The third residence, known as Braewold, was designed by architect Addison Hutton (1834–1916) and is a stone Second Empire style building built in 1870.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
