Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University (TNJMFAU), formerly and commonly known as Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University (TNMFAU), is a government music and fine arts university situated in Adyar in the southern part of the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is about 14 km (8.7 mi) from the Chennai International Airport and about 10 km (6.2 mi) from the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station. It is one of the premier music and fine arts universities named after the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa.

Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (TNMGRMU) is a government medical university situated in Guindy in the southern part of the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is about 7 km (4.3 mi) from the Chennai International Airport and about 13 km (8.1 mi) from the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station. It is one of the premier medical universities named after the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research is a medicine research institute located in Guindy, Chennai, India. It was established on 7 November 1899 with the aim of protecting against scourging infections and was named after Lt. Col. W. G. King, the then Sanitary Commissioner of the Madras Presidency.The institute is located on the banks of Adyar River. The main red building that houses the Director's office has been identified as a heritage structure and has been brought under Indian Archaeological Society. The institute functions under Director of Medical Education and Department of Health and Family Welfare (Tamil Nadu).It was one of the major institutions in India responsible for eradicating small pox by the production of vaccine. It is also one of the referral centers for bacterial and viral diseases in Tamil Nadu. Guindy metro station is a Metro railway station on the Blue Line of the Chennai Metro, which opened on 21 September 2016 along with the elevated section on the Blue Line. The station is among the elevated stations coming up along corridor I of the Chennai Metro, Wimco Nagar–Chennai International Airport stretch. The station will serve the neighbourhoods of Guindy and Velachery.

Guindy railway station is one of the railway stations of the Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhood of Guindy, a suburb of Chennai. It is located at about 14 km from Chennai Beach terminus and is situated at NH 45 in Anna Salai, with an elevation of 12 m above sea level.

Guindy taluk is a taluk of the city district of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was formed in December 2013 from parts of the erstwhile Mambalam-Guindy taluk and the Mylapore-Triplicane taluk. It comprises the neighbourhoods of Adyar, Alandur, T. Nagar, Ekkaduthangal, Guindy and Kotturpuram.

Chinnamalai, translated in English as Little Mount, is a small hillock that lies on the bank of Adayar River in the Saidapet taluk of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is traditionally acknowledged to be one of the places where St. Thomas, an apostle of Jesus, lived and preached when he came to India. In 1551 AD, Portuguese built a Church over the site where St. Thomas is believed to have lived in. Later, in the year 1970, a part of this old Church was demolished and a larger circular Church was built to accommodate more devotees. Little Mount now is a mixed-use residential and commercial area. The neighbourhood houses the IX Metropolitan Magistrates Court (Saidapet). Other Governmental offices located on the periphery of Little Mount include Raj Bhavan (the residence of the governor of Tamil Nadu), the headquarters of the state's Highways Department, and Panagal Maligai, which houses several government offices. Current developments in and around Little Mount include the New Life Assembly of God (NLAG) Church, Checkers Hotel, Lemon Tree Hotel, and the Temple Steps office complex. Little Mount is a stop on Line 1 of the Chennai Metro that runs between Washermanpet and the Airport.

The Guindy Race Course is a horse racing course set up in 1777 in Chennai, India. It is the oldest race course in India. It hosts events in the winter season.
