Guindy railway station

Guindy taluk is a taluk of the city district of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was formed in December 2013 from parts of the erstwhile Mambalam-Guindy taluk and the Mylapore-Triplicane taluk. It comprises the neighbourhoods of Adyar, Alandur, T. Nagar, Ekkaduthangal, Guindy and Kotturpuram.

Guindy metro station is a Metro railway station on the Blue Line of the Chennai Metro, which opened on 21 September 2016 along with the elevated section on the Blue Line. The station is among the elevated stations coming up along corridor I of the Chennai Metro, Wimco Nagar–Chennai International Airport stretch. The station will serve the neighbourhoods of Guindy and Velachery.

The Guindy Race Course is a horse racing course set up in 1777 in Chennai, India. It is the oldest race course in India. It hosts events in the winter season.

Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (TNMGRMU) is a government medical university situated in Guindy in the southern part of the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is about 7 km (4.3 mi) from the Chennai International Airport and about 13 km (8.1 mi) from the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station. It is one of the premier medical universities named after the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran (M.G.R.) and it is the second largest health sciences university in India after Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.

Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University (TNJMFAU), formerly and commonly known as Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University (TNMFAU), is a government music and fine arts university situated in Adyar in the southern part of the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is about 14 km (8.7 mi) from the Chennai International Airport and about 10 km (6.2 mi) from the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station. It is one of the premier music and fine arts universities named after the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa.

King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research is a medicine research institute located in Guindy, Chennai, India. It was established on 7 November 1899 with the aim of protecting against scourging infections and was named after Lt. Col. W. G. King, the then Sanitary Commissioner of the Madras Presidency.The institute is located on the banks of Adyar River. The main red building that houses the Director's office has been identified as a heritage structure and has been brought under Indian Archaeological Society. The institute functions under Director of Medical Education and Department of Health and Family Welfare (Tamil Nadu).It was one of the major institutions in India responsible for eradicating small pox by the production of vaccine. It is also one of the referral centers for bacterial and viral diseases in Tamil Nadu. Various wings at the institute include International Vaccination Centre, Board of Paramedical Education, and school of laboratory technology. Activities at the institute include quality control of schedule C and C1 drugs, manufacturing of anti–snake venom serum, diagnostic reagents (antigens and antisera), maintenance and supply of bacterial cultures, small animals, bacterial and virological diagnosis, and food sample testing.The International vaccination centre in King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research is one of the World Health Organization authorized centres for issuing yellow fever vaccination and certificate.

SPIC building, Chennai, is one of the oldest skyscrapers of the city. Earlier, it was popularly known as "twin towers of Chennai." The main building has 10 floors and Annexe building has 8 floors. It houses the headquarters of Southern Petrochemical Industries Corp. Ltd., a joint venture between the MA Chidambaram Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corp. Ltd (TIDCO). It is one of the Asia's largest fertilizer factories located in southern part of India. The building is built facing Guindy railway station, on Anna Salai. The SPIC administrative building was built in 1977 and Annexe building in the year 1993. However, one of the two buildings still stand, the other being sold and partly demolished, underscoring the declining fortunes of the company.

Guindy Thiru Vi Ka Industrial Estate is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. This was an active small scale industrial estate in the 1960s and 1970s but is gradually turning to new economy companies. Its central location makes it an attractive proposition for new business.

In terms of room inventory, it is the third largest hotel in India with 600 rooms after Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel – now rebranded as The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake (759 rooms) and Grand Hyatt (694 rooms), both in Mumbai.

Le Royal Méridien Chennai is a five-star luxury hotel located at the Guindy-Kathipara Junction on Anna Salai, Chennai, India. Initially built as Madras Hilton at an investment of ₹ 1,650 million, the hotel was, however, opened as Le Royal Meridien Chennai.

Guindy is one of the most important neighborhoods of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and is nicknamed as The Gateway to Chennai. The Kathipara junction where Anna Salai, Mount-Poonamallee Road, Inner Ring Road, 100 Feet Road or Jawaharlal Nehru Road, and GST Road meet here. It is one of the important nodal points of road traffic in the metropolitan area. It is also a commercial hub. It is surrounded by Saidapet in the North, Kotturpuram and Adyar towards the East, Velachery in the South, Adambakkam and Alandur in the South-West, Parangimalai in the West and Ekkatutthangal in the North-West. Guindy is home to many important landmarks in the city, the most famous amongst them being the Guindy National Park. It also serves as a main hub for several small and medium scale industries (Guindy Thiru Vi Ka Estate). Transportation to/from the neighborhood is catered by Guindy railway station and Guindy metro station.

The Blue Cross of India (BCI) is an animal welfare charity based in Chennai, India. It was established in 1959 by Captain V. Sundaram, his wife Usha and their three children, in Chennai (then Madras). The society was formally registered in 1964 under the Societies Registration Act. The nine signatories to the Articles and Memorandum of Association were Captain V. Sundaram, Usha Sundaram, S. Chinny Krishna, Suresh Sundaram, S. Vijayalakshmi, D. Daivasigamony, Kamakshi Krishnamoorthi, Sundari Nataraj and T. V. Chandrasekhar. It is now one of the country's largest animal welfare organisations. It runs several animal welfare programs including animal rights awareness. The non-medical division of the organisation is looked after by volunteers. The organisation has received several national and international awards. On July 27, 1994, thirty years after the organisation's founding, it received a gift of 4 acres (16,000 m2) of land and a donation of ₹ 25,00,000. This land was purchased a few months later so that they could have a permanent shelter.
