Masthamnen

Danviksbron or, alternatively, Danviksbro ("Danvik Bridge") is a bascule bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the eastern end of Södermalm to the eastern municipality Nacka. Under the bridge, the canal Hammarbykanalen carries the water of Hammarby Sjö over to Saltsjön. The bridge, actually two separate bridges, carries the railway Saltsjöbanan and a road. For unknown reasons the location of the bridge, like many other places along the shores of Sweden and Norway, was named 'Danviken', meaning danernas vik, "The Bay of the Danes", and until the early 20th century most people called it Dannviken (short a, like Danmark is still pronounced) rather than, as is common today, Daanviken (long a).

Danvikens hospital was a historical Swedish hospital, insane asylum and retirement home in Stockholm, active in 1558–1861. The area belonged to Stockholms kommun until 1984, when it was transferred to Nacka kommun. The Danvikens hospital was founded by the initiative of King Gustav Vasa in 1558. The current building is designed by Göran Josuæ Adelcrantz (1668–1739) and dates back to 1718–1725. From the 1740s, the hospital also functioned as an Insane asylum. The hospital is frequently mentioned within literature and during the 18th and 19th centuries; the name Danviken was used in common language as a synonym for a "Mad House". A famous description of the Danviken Asylum was Fältskärns berättelser (The tales of a Feldsher) by Zacharias Topelius from the 1780s. The facilities was emptied in 1861 and the asylum closed in 1863 because of the decaying buildings. It is now used as an Art Gallery.

Saltsjön is a bay of the Baltic Sea that extends from Stockholm archipelago to the inner city of Stockholm. Its innermost part reaches the eastern shore of Gamla stan at Skeppsbrokajen. It is navigable for large craft and the major ferry lines to and from Stockholm pass through it. Saltsjön is connected to Lake Mälaren through Norrström, through Karl Johanslussen at Slussen, and through Hammarbyslussen and Hammarbyleden. Saltsjö or Saltsjön may also denote other parts of the Baltic in the Stockholm region, as opposed to Mälaren or inland lakes. The word appears as part of place names such as Saltsjöbaden, Saltsjö-Boo or Saltsjö-Duvnäs which are not related to Saltsjön proper.

Having served the city's shipping industry for centuries, Beckholmen is now regarded as a historical monument of national interest, and, by its location just south of Djurgården in the vicinity of other similar localities (including Skeppsholmen, Kastellholmen, Djurgårdsvarvet, and Blasieholmen) it also forms part of Royal National City Park, and Stockholms Sjögård (literally, "Sea homestead of Stockholm"), an area of the harbour of Stockholm containing maritime environments of historical interest.

Folkungagatan is a major thoroughfare and business street located at Södermalm in Stockholm, Sweden. The street runs between Söderledstunneln and Danviksbro. The street was named in 1885 and refers to the medieval House of Folkung.SoFo (short for "South of Folkungagatan") is an area located to the south of the street.

The Toy Museum (Swedish: Leksaksmuseet) is a toy museum located (since 2005) in Spårvägsmuseet in Södermalm, Stockholm. It was originally located at Mariatorget, where it first opened on August 30, 1980. One notable attraction is the railway modelling collection of the Railway Society (Järnvägssällskapet). The focus is on "the 20th century, with emphasis on technical toys". Now Leksaksmuseet is located in Nacka at Saltsjö-Pir in brand new premises.

The Spårvägsmuseet, or Tramway Museum, was located at Tegelviksgatan 22 in Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden. It was owned and operated by Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (the Greater Stockholm Local Transit Company), and shows the development of public transportation in the Stockholm area from the 1650s until today. The Museum's mission also covers contemporary and future public transport in the Stockholm region, and water transportation in the area. The museum also houses a library, an archive and a café. The museum closed to the public in September 2017 and reopened in May 2022 in a former gasworks building in the Hjorthagen neighbourhood.

Beckholmsbron (Swedish: Beckholmen Bridge) is a wooden bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the two islands Djurgården and Beckholmen. Originally built in 1848–1858 when the first docks were constructed on Beckholmen, Beckholmsbron is the only remaining wooden bridge in Stockholm still used by heavy vehicles. It was repaired several times before the Royal Djurgården Administration had it rebuilt in 1992. The Stockholm City Museum have classified the bridge as a historical monument. The current name was made official in 1961.After its completion in 1862 the bridge gradually started to rot and was finally proposed to be replaced by a concrete construction. Popular opinion, however, didn't approve with the decision and four engineers from the regiment in Södertälje instead had the present wooden bridge constructed in six weeks in 1992.

Oaxen Krog, also known as Oaxen Krog & Slip, previously Oaxen Skärgårdskrog, is a restaurant in Stockholm, Sweden. It was started as a luxurious restaurant in the southern part of Stockholm archipelago, situated on the island Oaxen, south of the inlet to Södertälje Canal. The restaurant founded in 1994 by Magnus Ek and Agneta Green developed into one of the most highly rated restaurants in Sweden and was named one of the 50 best restaurants in the world five years in a row by Restaurant Magazine.It closed in September 2011, and in 2013 the new Oaxen Krog & Slip opened near Beckholmsbron at Djurgården in Stockholm in a new building by architects Mats Fahlander and Agneta Pettersson. In 2014, the restaurant was awarded one Michelin star and in 2015 it was awarded two stars.Oaxen Krog has a sister restaurant Oaxen Slip which is in the same building and is a bistro. The couple previously also ran a deli shop, Oaxen Skafferi, at Mariatorget in Stockholm.

The Baltic Sea Science Center in Stockholm is part of the open-air museum Skansen, and showcases the Baltic marine environment and its threats, using aquariums, exhibitions, and educational activities.

Hammarby sjö (Swedish: "Lake Hammarby") is a watercourse in central Stockholm, Sweden. Separating Stockholm City Centre from South Stockholm, or, more locally, Norra Hammarbyhamnen on eastern Södermalm from Södra Hammarbyhamnen, it connects Saltsjön to Årstasjön. Covering a surface of 34 hectares and having an average depth of 4.5 metres (maximum 6 metres), Hammarby sjö is supplied by a drainage area covering 159 hectares and contains 1,600,000 cubic metres of water. Originally a lake about 3 metres deep, it was transformed into a canal when connected to Saltsjön in the 1920s and a 6 metres deep channel was dug between Hammarbyslussen and Saltsjön and another to Sickla sluss. The importance of the water expanse has grown since the late 20th century as new residential areas have been constructed along its shores.Four bridges stretch over Hammarby Sjö and connected bodies of water: Danviksbron, Skansbron, Skanstullsbron and Johanneshovsbron.
