Blacksville is an unincorporated community in Henry County, Georgia, United States. At the 2000 census it was recorded as a census-designated place (CDP), with a population of four. It was no longer a CDP at the 2010 census. Blacksville is named after the Black family of McDonough, Georgia, their family were one of the early pioneers to move to the village of McDonough where Blacksville is now located today. The segregation-era black high school for Henry County was in Blacksville and is now used as Henry County Middle School. Most of the community was subsequently annexed by nearby McDonough.

McDonough is a city in Henry County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Its population was 22,084 at the 2010 census, up from 8,493 in 2000. The city is the county seat of Henry County. The unincorporated communities of Blacksville, Flippen, Kelleytown, and Ola are located near McDonough, and addresses in those communities have McDonough ZIP Codes.

Luella High School is a public institution within the Henry County School System in Locust Grove, Georgia, United States. It hosts students from ninth through twelfth grades. Current enrollment is around 1,400 students. Luella High School shares facilities with Luella Elementary School and Luella Middle School.

Globe Hotel in McDonough, Georgia, USA, also known as Dunn House, was built in 1827 and expanded in the late 1800s. It is a two-story frame building. In the 1930s, the building was moved about one block from its original location facing the courthouse square. It has some elements of Stick/Eastlake architecture in the newer section. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Brown House in McDonough, Georgia, at 71 Macon Street (U.S. 23 and Georgia Route 42), was built in 1826. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It has also been known as the Brown House Hotel.A small house on the property was built in 1826. The second story and the two-story portico were added as part of a major expansion in 1883, when it was owned by Mrs. Asa Brown. It served as a hotel from some time around 1874 to 1883, until some later date.It is also a contributing building in the McDonough Historic District. It now houses the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton Counties, Inc. and its Family Research Library.

The McDonough Historic District, in McDonough, Georgia, is a 200-acre (81 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. It is centered on Griffin St. and Keys Ferry St. and has buildings dating back to 1823. The district includes 187 contributing buildings, one contributing structure, one contributing site, and a contributing object, as well as 71 non-contributing buildings. The district includes most of historic McDonough, including the separately NRHP-listed Henry County Courthouse and the courthouse square.Specifically it includes:

Henry County Courthouse is a county courthouse in McDonough, Georgia, county seat of Henry County, Georgia. It was built in 1897 in a Romanesque Revival architecture style according to designs by Golucke & Stewart. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 18, 1980. It is located in Courthouse Square. It is also a contributing building in the McDonough Historic District.

Creekside Christian Academy is a private non-denominational Christian school located in McDonough, Georgia. It conducts classes for preschool as well as elementary, middle school, and high school grades. In January 2018, Creekside moved its high school students to a new campus known as the West Campus, making the school a dual campus academy. The West Campus located at 2455 Mt. Carmel Rd. in Hampton Georgia, was the former home of Higher Living Christian Church. The church recently has been evicted due to foreclosure. The middle school students of CCA are planning to move over into the West Campus in the Fall of 2018. The elementary and preschool portion of the school with remain at the East Campus (175 Foster Drive Mcdonough Georgia) In 1973, it used to be Clayton Christian School and moved into East Campus 2007.

The Camp Creek train wreck was a railroad disaster that took place on 23 June 1900 just outside McDonough, Georgia. The northbound Southern Railway train hit a washout 1.5 miles north of the town, plunging 60 feet into the swollen creek below before bursting into flames, killing 35 of the 45 aboard the train.

The Lawrenceville Street Historic District, in McDonough, Georgia, is a 25 acres (10 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. It included 27 contributing buildings and a contributing structure.It consists of houses along a street which arcs northeast and east from the Henry County Courthouse. These include: House at 34 Lawrenceville Street (c.1900), a New South cottage with "the complex massing of a Queen Anne cottage and a central hall" C.W. Walker House (1888), 56 Lawrenceville Street, a two-story, three-bay Georgian House at 61 Lawrenceville Street (c.1890), a central-hall plan house with a Greek Revival-style porch and a steeply pitched Gothic Revival-style cross-gable roof House at 97 Lawrenceville Street (1904), "an excellent example of a Georgian-plan cottage" House at 215 Lawrenceville Street (1916), Renaissance Revival-style This is the Turner House, pictured above.However, as of 2019, the first three of these have been demolished.

SoNo (South of North Avenue) is a sub-district of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, just south of Midtown. The area was defined and named by T. Brian Glass while working on a rezoning committee with Central Atlanta Progress in 2005 in order to better establish an identity for the area and give it a hipper image. SoNo refers to the area of Downtown bounded by North Avenue on the north, Central Park Place on the east and the Downtown Connector (Interstate-75/85) on the west and south.Ongoing urban renewal efforts in the new neighborhood seek to establish a chic cultural identity for the underdeveloped area, as well as reunite the Midtown and Downtown commercial districts (which have remained mostly divided since the construction of the Downtown Connector through the heart of the city), including a proposed "interstate cap" over the highway that would extend Mayor's Park south along Peachtree Street to Baker Street. SoNo is home to several attractions, including Emory University Hospital Midtown, the Atlanta Civic Center, Shakespeare Tavern and the Bank of America Plaza, the city's tallest building. It also is home to the historic Baltimore Block and Rufus M. Rose House. SoNo's centerpiece Renaissance and Central Parks were also the site of Atlanta's annual Music Midtown festival, before moving to Piedmont Park. Public transportation is provided by MARTA with buses and with the north-south rail line serving the Civic Center station.
