Boyeros (Spanish: oxherds) is one of the 15 municipalities or boroughs (municipios in Spanish) in the city of Havana, Cuba. The municipality was created in 1976, and amalgamated the town of Santiago de Las Vegas. It lies on the south-west side of the city and includes José Martí International Airport.

Cubana de Aviación Flight 9046 was a chartered Ilyushin Il-62M airliner (registered CU-T1281) operated by Cubana, which crashed on 3 September 1989, shortly after takeoff from José Martí International Airport.Flight 9046 was due to operate a non-scheduled international Havana–Milan–Cologne passenger service. The crash resulted in the deaths of all 126 occupants of the aircraft plus 24 people on the ground. It is the worst aviation disaster to have ever occurred in Cuba.

Wajay is a ward (consejo popular, "people's council") of the city of Havana, the capital of Cuba, belonging to the municipal borough of Boyeros. In 2011, it had a population of 47,954.

Cubana de Aviación Flight 972 was a scheduled domestic flight operated by Mexican charter airline Global Air on behalf of Cubana de Aviación, from José Martí International Airport, Havana, Cuba, to Frank País Airport in Holguín, Cuba. On 18 May 2018, the 39-year-old Boeing 737-201 Adv. operating the route crashed shortly after takeoff, near Santiago de las Vegas, 19 kilometres (12 mi; 10 nmi) from Havana city centre. Of those on board, 112 died and one passenger survived with critical injuries. There were initially four survivors, but three of them later died at a local hospital. Most of the passengers on board were Cuban nationals, although the crew was entirely Mexican. The incident was scrutinized by Cuban safety investigators, with assistance from the United States and Mexico. While the Federal Aviation Administration has no official jurisdiction in Cuba, their assistance was voluntary and welcomed by Cuban officials due to the local investigators' general lack of experience with American-built aircraft. Additional assistance was provided by Mexico, where the aircraft was registered, and also where the airline and flight crew that owned and operated the aircraft were based. The multinational investigation ultimately determined in September 2019 that the aircraft was outside centre of gravity, and the pilots were unsuccessful in an attempt to remedy issues related to the plane's loading/weight imbalance.

José Martí International Airport (IATA: HAV, ICAO: MUHA), sometimes known by its former name Rancho Boyeros Airport, is an international airport located 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of the centre of Havana, Cuba, and is a hub for Cubana de Aviación and Aerogaviota, and former Latin American hub for the Soviet (later Russian) airline Aeroflot. It is Cuba's main international airport, and serves several million passengers each year. The facility is operated by Empresa Cubana de Aeropuertos y Servicios Aeronáuticos (ECASA). The airport lies in the municipality of Boyeros and connects Havana with the rest of the Caribbean, North, Central and South America, as well as Europe. It is named in memory of patriot and poet José Martí. Private Cuban citizens are not allowed to own aircraft; all aircraft in Cuba belong to state-owned airlines or the military. Only government- and foreign-owned aircraft are allowed to use the facilities. As of 2020, Copa Airlines was the foreign airline with most flights to the airport, operating 34 flights a week (roughly five daily flights) from Panama City, Panama, and Bogotá, Colombia.

Aeroflot Flight 331 was an international passenger flight operated by an Ilyushin Il-62M that crashed about 1 km (0.62 mi) from José Martí International Airport, in Havana, Cuba, on 27 May 1977. The accident occurred after the aircraft hit power lines on its final approach to the airport during poor weather. The aircraft was attempting an emergency landing due to a fire in one of its engines. Only two of the 69 occupants on board survived. The cause of the crash was ruled to be pilot error.

Calabazar is a ward (consejo popular, "people's council") of the city of Havana, the capital of Cuba, belonging to the municipal borough of Boyeros. In 2011, it had a population of 20,069.

Santiago de las Vegas is a ward of Boyeros, a municipality of Havana, Cuba, located 20 km (12 mi) south of the city center. As of 2012, the population was 32,958. The Cuban government maintains an agricultural experiment station as well as a meteorology center in the city.

The University of Pedagogical Sciences "Hector Alfredo Pineda Zaldivar" (UCPETP) (Spanish: Universidad de Ciencias Pedagógicas Héctor Alfredo Pineda Zaldívar), originally named "Héctor Alfredo Pineda Zaldívar Higher Pedagogical Institute" (Spanish: Instituto Superior Pedagogico para la Ensenanza Tecnica y Profesional, ISPETP) is a Higher Education, post-graduate and doctoral research university located in Boyeros, Havana, Cuba. It has the mission to prepare professors capable of developing high level professionals in different areas of engineering. It works to become the national leader of scientific and technical-pedagogical excellence for the improvement of the Technical and Professional Education and for its leading role of the technical careers in the rest of the pedagogical institutions.

The today Technological University José Antonio Echeverría, in its beginnings the University City José Antonio Echeverría (CUJAE), whose old acronyms are still used for its popular recognition. With the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959, a stage of revolutionary transformations at the national level began in Cuba and among the first were educational ones. Thus the conditions are created to initiate a true university reform, dreams until then unique of the great Cuban teachers: Varela, Martí, Mella, Varona and of all those who for years had fought and even given their lives to cement a worthy University that was only achieved with Fidel. It is attached to the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba. On February 15, 2017, the National Accreditation Board awarded him the superior category of excellence, for his results in the comprehensive training of students, research and its impact on the municipality, the nation and abroad.

Parque Lenin (English: Lenin Park) is a recreational park complex situated south of Havana, Cuba.

The Cuba Adventist Theological Seminary (Spanish: Seminario Teológico Adventista de Cuba) is a Seventh-day Adventist theology school located in Havana, Cuba. It prepares men and women to serve the church and community in a climate of growing religious liberty.
