Granollers Museum

Granollers (Catalan pronunciation: [ɡɾənuˈʎes]) is a city in central Catalonia, about 30 kilometres north-east of Barcelona. It is the capital and most densely populated city in the comarca of Vallès Oriental. Granollers is now a bustling business centre, having grown from a town dominated by Catalonia's textile industry that was prominent during the 19th Century. However, in the southern portion of the municipality, the Palou area retains the agricultural characteristics of the past.Granollers forms a conurbation with Canovelles, Les Franqueses del Vallès and the district of La Torreta in La Roca del Vallès. The city is crossed by the Congost river, a tributary of the Besòs. It is considered to be the other jewel of the Barcelona metropolitan area. It is around 25 km north-east of the centre of Barcelona.

The Granollers Museum of Natural Sciences, in Granollers (in Vallès Oriental, Spain), covers the fields of palaeontology, geology, botany, meteorology, and, in particular, zoology. In addition, the Museum is the headquarters of the Montseny Natural Park Documentation Centre (natural sciences section) and of the Catalan Butterfly Monitoring Scheme; it also manages the Granollers Meteorological Station and the Can Cabanyes Environmental Education Centre. The Granollers Museum of Natural Sciences, part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network, was from October 2008 to May 2012.

Granollers Centre is a Rodalies de Catalunya railway station serving Granollers in Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the Barcelona–Cerbère railway, just next to the Granollers main square. The station serves as the northern terminus of Barcelona commuter rail service lines R2 and R8 as well as a stop for all trains on commuter line R2 Nord and regional line R11.

Palau d'Esports de Granollers (Spanish:Palacio de Deportes de Granollers, English:Granollers Sports Palace) is an arena in Granollers, Catalonia. It is primarily used for team handball and is the home arena of BM Granollers. The arena, projected by the Catalan architect Pep Bonet, holds 5,685 people and was opened in 1991 for the 1992 Summer Olympics. During those games, it hosted the handball competitions. It is managed by the city of Granollers.

Canovelles (Catalan pronunciation: [kənuˈβeʎəs]) is a municipality situated in the comarca of Vallès Oriental, in the province of Barcelona, part of the autonomous community of Catalonia in northeastern Spain. It is located about 2 km (1.2 mi) from the local capital of Granollers, with which it forms a conurbation.

The Bombing of Granollers took place during the Spanish Civil War in 1938. On 31 May 1938, the Italian Aviazione Legionaria bombed the town of Granollers. There were between 100 and 224 civilian deaths.

Les Franqueses del Vallès (Catalan pronunciation: [ləs fɾəŋˈkɛzəz ðəl βəˈʎɛs]; Spanish: Las Franquesas del Vallés [las fɾaŋˈkesaz ðel βaˈʎes]) is a municipality in the comarca of the Vallès Oriental in Catalonia, Spain. It lies to the north of Granollers, the capital and largest city in the comarca. The municipality covers an area of 29.1 km², and has about 20,000 inhabitants. It is divided into five neighbourhoods: Bellavista, Corró d'Amunt, Corró d'Avall, Llerona and Marata.

Metzineres (in full "Metzineres - Environments of shelter for womxn who take drugs surviving violences") is a nonprofit cooperative based in Barcelona, Spain, providing shelter for vulnerable and marginalized women and non-binary people who use drugs, including homeless people. The project was launched in 2017 and registered as a non-profit cooperative in October 2020.

La Roca del Vallès is a village in the comarca of Vallès Oriental in the province of Barcelona and Catalonia. The municipality covers an area of 36.9 square kilometres (14.2 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 10,518.

Vallès Oriental (Catalan pronunciation: [bəˈʎɛz uɾiənˈtal]) is a comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain. Its capital is Granollers. Along with Vallès Occidental it forms the grand comarca of Vallès. In May 2015, Vallès Oriental lost four municipalities - Castellcir, Castellterçol, Granera, Sant Quirze Safaja - to the new comarca of Moianès.

The 2000 Spanish Grand Prix (formally the XLII Gran Premio Marlboro de España) was a Formula One motor race held on 7 May 2000 at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Montmeló, Catalonia, Spain in front of approximately 79,000 spectators. It was the fifth round of the 2000 Formula One World Championship and the 42nd Spanish Grand Prix. McLaren driver Mika Häkkinen won the 65-lap race starting from second position. His teammate David Coulthard finished second and Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello was third. Going into the event, Michael Schumacher led the World Drivers' Championship from Häkkinen and Ferrari led McLaren in the World Constructors' Championship. He set the fastest lap in the qualifying session to start on pole position and held off Häkkinen on the first lap. Schumacher maintained the lead until his first pit stop on lap 24 when Ferrari chief mechanic Nigel Stepney was injured by Schumacher's right-rear tyre when Schumacher was mistakenly instructed to leave his box before the stop was completed. This promoted Häkkinen to the race lead which he held until his pit stop two laps later. Michael Schumacher kept the lead for the following 22 laps as he and Häkkinen made their second pit stops together, with Häkkinen emerging in front after a refuelling error slowed Schumacher's pit stop. Häkkinen led the final 22 laps to achieve his first win of the season and the 15th of his career. The race victory promoted Häkkinen to second place in the World Drivers' Championship, fourteen points behind Michael Schumacher. Coulthard's second-place finish saw him fall to third, and Barrichello's third place put him one point ahead of Ralf Schumacher. In the World Constructors' Championship, McLaren's one-two finish moved them to within seven points of leaders Ferrari. Williams remained in third on 15 points, with 12 races left in the season.

The 2001 Spanish Grand Prix (formally the XLIII Gran Premio Marlboro de Espana) was a Formula One motor race held on 29 April 2001 at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain. It was the fifth round of the 2001 Formula One season. The 65-lap race was won by Michael Schumacher driving a Ferrari car after starting from pole position. Juan Pablo Montoya finished second driving a Williams car with Jacques Villeneuve third for the BAR team. The race was Schumacher's third win of the season, and the result that he led the Drivers' Championship, eight points ahead of Coulthard and twenty-two ahead of Rubens Barrichello. Ferrari extended their lead in the Constructors' Championship, eighteen points ahead of McLaren, and thirty-two ahead of Williams, with 12 races of the season remaining. This race marked the return of electronic driver aids, which were made legal and reintroduced by the FIA at this race, and this event marked the first time since the 1993 Australian Grand Prix in which the use of traction control, launch control, and fully-automatic gearboxes were all permitted. Formula One cars would not race without these systems again until the 2004 and 2008 Australian Grand Prix, respectively.
