Turku University of Applied Sciences (abbr. TUAS, Finnish Turun ammattikorkeakoulu) is a multidisciplinary higher education institution, located in the city of Turku and Salo in the Southwest Finland. The institute began operations as a temporary polytechnic in autumn 1992. Before 2006-01-10, the institution carried the English name of Turku Polytechnic. At the moment, the establishment has approximately 9,600 students and 700 members of staff, making it one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Finland. In Finland Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) have the mission to train professionals with emphasis on labour market needs and conduct research and development which supports instruction and promotes regional development in particular. The education in UAS emphasises co-operation with the business, industry and service sectors at the regional level in particular.TUAS offers education in four fields of study and altogether in over 70 degree programmes, both Bachelor and Master studies. Most of the degree programmes are conducted only in Finnish. TUAS provides also training and consulting services for both individuals and organizations in the public and private sector and coordinates or acts as a partner in over 200 RDI projects yearly.

Kupittaa railway station (Finnish: Kupittaan rautatieasema, Swedish: Kuppis järnvägsstation) is located in the Kupittaa district of Turku, Finland. The station is located about three kilometres from the Turku Central railway station in the immediate vicinity of the Turku Science Park. All trains between Helsinki and Turku stop at Kupittaa. The station is part of the Turku traffic point, and traffic control is handled from Turku Central railway station. The station has bus connections to Turku internal lines 32, 42 and 58 and regional line 110.

Kupittaa (Swedish: Kuppis) is a district in Turku, Finland. It is located on the eastern side of the city's centre, around the Kupittaa Park, the first landscaped park in a Finnish city. The district serves as a centre for recreation and business. Turku has recently planned a residential area for 750 residents on the premises of a former HKScan sausage factory.The area hosts, among other things, numerous sports facilities, such as the Veritas Stadion, a Finnish baseball stadium, a velodrome, a bowling alley, a skateboarding area and a BMX track, and the Kupittaa open-air swimming pools. The ice hockey arena in the district was demolished in 2005. A new one was inaugurated in November 2006. Most of the Turku Science Park business centre is located in Kupittaa. The centre is currently expanding around Kupittaa railway station, next to Finnish national road 1 (part of European route E18) between Helsinki and Turku. According to a version of the legend, the first pagan Finns were baptised into Christianity by the Bishop Henry at a spring in Kupittaa Park on Midsummer Day in the year 1155. In the 18th century, the spring was used as a spa facility.

Veritas Stadion is an association football stadium in Turku, Finland. It is situated in the district of Kupittaa, in an area dedicated to sporting venues. The stadium serves as the home venue for FC Inter Turku and Turun Palloseura playing in Finland's premier football league, the Veikkausliiga. The stadium underwent an expansion in 2009, when a stand with 1,644 seats was built to meet the demands for the UEFA Women's Euro 2009. The stadium has a capacity of 9,372 spectators, with 8,072 seats and 1,300 standing places. In Veritas Stadion there are two stands opposite to each other. The old Olympic stand (Olympiakatsomo) was built for the 1952 Summer Olympics and the new, modern main stand was ready in 2003. After that the name of the stadium was changed to Veritas Stadion, having formerly been known simply as the "Kupittaa football stadium" (Kupittaan jalkapallostadion). The old Kupittaa Stadium's record attendance was approximately 15,000 spectators for the 1987–88 UEFA Cup match between Turun Palloseura and Italian giants Inter Milan. The attendance record of 9,125 spectators was set at a match between Inter Turku and Kuopion Palloseura in 2019.

Turku School of Economics (Finnish Turun kauppakorkeakoulu) is a unit of the University of Turku located in Turku, Finland. It was established as an independent higher education business school in 1950, until it was acquired by the state in 1977. It was the second largest school of its kind in Finland, with approximately 2,000 graduate and 250 postgraduate students and a staff of 350. In January 2010, Turku School of Economics became the seventh faculty of the University of Turku. Its former rector, Professor Tapio Reponen, is now a vice rector of the University of Turku.In addition to teaching a wide variety of economic and business related subjects, the faculty conducts research on matters relating to its field, and offers consulting services to businesses. Teaching is mainly carried out in Finnish, but there are also a number of courses available in English. As a higher education institution, Turku School of Economics had been one of the most efficient universities in terms of master's per professor.

Kupittaan monitoimihalli ('Kupittaa Multipurpose Hall'), also known as Marli Areena for sponsorship reasons, is an arena in the Kupittaa district of Turku, Finland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of the Mestis team TUTO Hockey and the Naisten Liiga team TPS Naiset. It was opened on 18 November 2006 on the original site of the Kupittaan jäähalli (Swedish: Kuppishallen), which had opened in 1973 and held 5,500 people.

Posankka (Swedish: Grisankan) is a statue located in Turku, Finland. The statue, which is located near the campus area of the University of Turku and the Turku Student Village, represents a hybrid between a marzipan pig ("possu") and a rubber duck ("ankka"). It is a pink animal with a duck's lower body and a pig's head.The statue was designed by Alvar Gullichsen in 1999 when it was placed floating in the Aurajoki river in Turku. The statue has stood at its current location since 2001.Every winter, a Santa Claus hat is put on Posankka's head, and on Walpurgis Night it is capped with a Finnish student cap.

Itäharju (Swedish: Österås) is a district in the Itäharju-Varissuo ward of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the east of the city centre, and consists mostly of industrial area, brownfields and low-density residential area. Since the beginning of the 2000s the trend of renovating old industrial buildings to offices has sprawled over from the neighboring Kupittaa to Itäharju as well. The current (as of 2004) population of Itäharju is 2,940, and it is decreasing at an annual rate of 0.78%. 16.19% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 15.54% are over 65. The district's linguistic makeup is 93.20% Finnish, 5.07% Swedish, and 1.73% other.

The University of Turku (Finnish: Turun yliopisto, in Swedish: Åbo universitet, shortened UTU), located in Turku in southwestern Finland, is the third largest university in the country as measured by student enrollment, after the University of Helsinki and Tampere University. It was established in 1920 and also has facilities at Rauma, Pori, Kevo and Seili. The university is a member of the Coimbra Group.

St. Catherine's Church (Finnish: Pyhän Katariinan kirkko, Swedish: S:ta Katarina kyrka) is located in Nummi, a suburb of Turku, Finland, in the same district as Turku Student Village. It represents old medieval stone church building tradition. Although it was completely destroyed and has undergone several renovations, it has preserved something of its original appearance and retains the basic plan of a medieval Finnish church. The construction was begun in the 1340s; the sacristy was completed first and the church later. Bishop Hemming and Bishop Thomas of Växjö consecrated the church on 22 January 1351.The church was named after its patron saint Catherine of Alexandria in 1991. It used to be located in the region of Kaarina and was known was Kaarina Church. The first mention of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was in a signet with which vicar Jacob of Nummi confirmed the then episcopal election. Nummi, which surrounded the church, however became a part of Turku in 1939. When Kaarina became its own parish, the church changed its name to St. Catherine's Church.

Vasaramäki (Swedish: Hammarbacka) is a district in the Uittamo-Skanssi ward of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the southeast of the city centre, and is mainly a low-density residential suburb. The name consists of the words vasara meaning 'hammer' and mäki meaning 'hill'. The current (as of 2004) population of Vasaramäki is 3,949, and it is decreasing at an annual rate of 0.15%. 12.64% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 24.21% are over 65. The district's linguistic makeup is 92.68% Finnish, 5.95% Swedish, and 1.37% other.
