Chester Friends Meetinghouse is a Quaker meeting house at 520 East 24th Street in Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The first recorded meeting of Friends in the province of Pennsylvania was in Chester at the house of Robert Wade in 1675. William Edmundson, the founder of Quakerism in Ireland was present at the first meeting.In 1682, the Chester Friends agreed to hold their meeting at the Chester Court House, also known at the time as the House of Defense.On January 7, 1687, a lot was purchased on the west side of present-day Edgemont Avenue and construction began on the meetinghouse.The first Chester Friends Meetinghouse was completed in 1693.William Penn was known to speak at the original Chester Friends meetinghouse.In 1735, after forty-three years of worship at the original building, a larger meetinghouse was built on the same property.The existing buildings have 1829 and 1954 represented on them indicating the date of construction of the current buildings. The Chester Friends meetinghouse is an active worship center.

Wallingford is an unincorporated community in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1687, it is named for Wallingford, England. In 2007, Wallingford was named by Money Magazine as the ninth best place to live in the United States; two other towns in the area made the top 15. Most locations in Nether Providence use Wallingford's ZIP code. It is west of Interstate 476, known locally as the Blue Route, and east of S. Providence Road, PA 252. Crum Creek forms the township's eastern border with the borough of Swarthmore. Wallingford lies north of Chester on the southwestern edge of the Philadelphia urban area. Wallingford is about 9 miles from Philadelphia. There is a dry cleaning shop and a post office. Various doctors, dentists, and lawyers are also located in Wallingford. About half a dozen churches and chapels of several denominations are located in Wallingford, including Wallingford Presbyterian Church, St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church on Providence Road and the Foundry Church, near Media Parkway. Wallingford is also home to Congregation Ohev Shalom, a conservative synagogue located at the corner of Rt. 252 and Rt. 320. The local school district is the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District, which serves Wallingford, Swarthmore, Rutledge, and parts of Media, Morton and Rose Valley. Wallingford is located along SEPTA's Media/Wawa Line, and has a station whose design is attributed to the well-known Victorian architect Frank Furness. Wallingford is about 30 minutes from center city Philadelphia by rail. Effective July 1, 2013, the one-way ticketed fares are $5.75 weekdays and $5.00 evenings and weekends. WDNR (89.5 FM, "Widener's Best") was a college radio station in Chester, Pennsylvania, licensed to Widener University. The station used to broadcast a wide variety of music and could also be listened to on the Internet via an online stream. WDNR marked its 40th anniversary in 2008. On August 29, 2014, the FCC cancelled WDNR's license, after the university decided to no longer operate the station.

The Old Main and Chemistry Building are two connected, historic, American buildings that were erected in 1867 and 1883 and are presently located on the campus of Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. Both buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Crozer Arboretum, now the Crozer Garden, is a 12-acre (49,000 m2) arboretum and garden park located at 1 Medical Center Boulevard, Upland, Pennsylvania. The grounds are open daily; admission is free. The park was formerly the campus of the Crozer Theological Seminary, the buildings of the seminary are currently used as office space by the Crozer-Chester Medical Center. The arboretum features large specimen trees dating from the mid-19th century, more than 1,400 rhododendrons, native herbaceous plants and shrubs, lawns, two ponds, natural springs, and walkways. The campus also features the 10-acre (40,000 m2) Leona Gold Garden and Crozer Greenhouse.

Widener University is a private university in Chester, Pennsylvania. The university has three other campuses: two in Pennsylvania (Harrisburg and Exton) and one in Wilmington, Delaware. Founded as The Bullock School for Boys in 1821, the school was established in Wilmington, Delaware. It became The Alsop School for Boys from 1846 to 1853, and then Hyatt's Select School for Boys from 1853 to 1859. Military instruction was introduced in 1858, and the school changed its name in 1859 to Delaware Military Academy. It moved to Pennsylvania in 1862 and became Chester County Military Academy. It was known as Pennsylvania Military College after 1892 and adopted the Widener name in 1972. About 3,300 undergraduates and 3,300 graduate students attend Widener in eight degree-granting schools. The university offers associate, baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees in areas ranging from traditional liberal arts to professional programs. It is classified among "Doctoral/Professional Universities" and a "Community Engagement Institution".
