Stepney City Farm is a city farm in Stepney, London, England. It is situated on Stepney Way with its entrance on the roundabout leading onto Stepney High Street and Belgrave Street towards Limehouse. The land is owned by Tower Hamlets Council through a trust, "The King George's Fields Trust" chaired by the Mayor of Tower Hamlets.The farm was founded in 1979 by Lynne Bennett; at that time it was called Stepping Stones. Local residents, schools, churches and community groups were consulted and wasteland left after a World War II bomb destroyed the Stepney Congregational Church in 1941 was secured for the farm's use. The site has been through several incarnations since the 17th century. Worcester house (locally known as King John's Palace) was an original building from which ruins remain onsite, and the remains of the old Sunday school and the Stepney meeting house can be seen.Known as the Stepping Stones Farm up until 2009 under the management of Lynne Bennett, the 4.2-acre. From 2009–2012 the farm was technically the legal and financial responsibility of Tower Hamlets Council but is now run by a charity, "Stepney City Farm Ltd", with a 10-year lease as from 2012 (registered in June 2010 as Charity Number 1136448). The farm also runs workshops in rural crafts through its resident artisans; blacksmith, woodworker and potter. In 2011, the farm created an 800 square metre community garden and added low-cost growing boxes for community use.In May 2013 a cafe and shop selling farm-reared meat and eggs as well as vegetables grown on-site was opened. It is open to the public six days a week. There is a Farmers' Market every Saturday. It is the home of The Green Wood Guild, a green wood and traditional woodworking craft workshop run by Barn the Spoon.

Mulberry Stepney Green Maths, Computing and Science College is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form. It is situated in Stepney, in the heart of the historic East End of London and adjacent to the developments in Docklands, it serves the local community, which is mainly Bangladeshi in origin. It has a well-equipped library, including 300 computers and a good range of fiction and reference books/material. Previously a community school administered by Tower Hamlets London Borough Council, in March 2018 Stepney Green Maths, Computing and Science College converted to academy status. The school was sponsored by The Tower Trust. Mulberry Stepney Green Computing, Maths and Science College joined the Mulberry Schools Trust on 1 September 2021. It was an all-boys school but became coeducational from September 2020. The curriculum is broad, there is a wide range of extra-curricular activities offered before, during and after school. The PE department organise football and table tennis at lunchtime, after school and on Saturdays. These clubs are especially organised to encourage children of the local community to come and experience sports with qualified PE teachers. The school operates a sixth form provision in consortium with Bow School, Langdon Park School and St Paul's Way Trust School. The sixth form consortium is known as Sixth Form East.

Stepney All Saints Church of England Secondary School (formerly known as Sir John Cass's Foundation and Redcoat School) is a Church of England voluntary aided school and sixth form located in Stepney, London, England. The last Ofsted report in October 2015 rated SJCR School as "Outstanding."

The Metropolitan Borough of Stepney was a Metropolitan borough in the County of London created in 1900. In 1965 it became part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Stepney Green cavern is an underground junction which contains the junction where Crossrail divides into two branches: one to Shenfield and one to Abbey Wood. It is located below Stepney Green Park. At the time of its completion in 2017, Stepney Green cavern was claimed to have been one of the largest mined caverns in Europe.Construction activity commenced during March 2010, almost two years after the programme's authorisation. The cavern was built using spray concrete lining techniques, and involved the use of multiple tunnel boring machines (TBMs). During 2013, excavation work was largely completed, while both of the TBMs were dismantled during the following year. During October 2017, it was announced that all major structural work associated with Stepney Green cavern had been completed.

The Baptist College, Stepney, was opened in Stepney in the East End of London in 1810 by the Particular Baptists. Its buildings included rooms for tutors and students, a refectory, a library and a chapel. The college relocated to larger premises at Holford House in 1856 and became Regent's Park College.The only remaining structure is the largely-destroyed Baptist Academical Institution chapel. The building remained until it was damaged during World War II; only three parts of the college estate remain.The site is currently part of the Stepney City Farm. Crossrail works are taking place there.

The Tower Division was a liberty in the ancient county of Middlesex, England. It was also known as the Tower Hamlets, and took its name from the military obligations owed to the Constable of the Tower of London. The term ‘Hamlets’ probably referred to territorial sub-divisions of the parish of Stepney – and its daughter parishes – rather than to the usual meaning of a small village.In contemporary terms, the Liberty covered inner East London, the area now administered by the eponymous modern London Borough of Tower Hamlets together with most of the modern London Borough of Hackney (Shoreditch and Hackney proper). The Liberty was seen as synonymous with East London until East London extended further, east of the Lea and into Essex. The Tower Division was formed sometime in the 17th century but the much older administrative units comprising the area were united in shared military obligations long before this time. The Liberty had judicial and some local government responsibilities, and its military function was unique.

The Queen's Head is a pub at 8 Flamborough Street, Stepney, London E14. It is a Grade II listed building, built in the late 18th/ early 19th century.

Troxy is a Grade II-listed Art Deco music venue on Commercial Road in Stepney, London. Built as a cinema in 1933, it closed in 1960 and became a training school for the London Opera Centre. In the 1980s the building was used as a bingo hall, and the Troxy was converted to a live events space in 2006. The building is considered a vital part of East London's history and was Grade II listed in 1990. It has a capacity of 3,100.

Stepney is a district in the East End of London in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The district is no longer officially defined, and is usually used to refer to a relatively small area. However, for much of its history the place name applied to a much larger manor and parish. Stepney Green is a remnant of a larger area of Common Land formerly known as Mile End Green.The area was built up rapidly in the 19th century, mainly to accommodate immigrant workers and displaced London poor, and developed a reputation for poverty, overcrowding, violence and political dissent. It was severely damaged during the Blitz, with over a third of housing totally destroyed; and then, in the 1960s, slum clearance and development replaced most residential streets with tower blocks and modern housing estates. Some Georgian architecture and Victorian era terraced housing survive in patches: for example Arbour Square, the eastern side of Stepney Green, and the streets around Matlock Street.

Limehouse is a National Rail and connected Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Limehouse, London, England. It is served by regional services operated by c2c to and from Fenchurch Street, and by light metro services provided by the DLR to and from Tower Gateway or Bank. On the main line, Limehouse is located 1 mile 58 chains (2.8 km) from Fenchurch Street and the following station is West Ham; on the DLR it is between Shadwell and Westferry in Travelcard Zone 2. The station was opened by the Commercial Railway (later the London and Blackwall Railway) in 1840 with the name Stepney. At that time, the Commercial Railway had a separate station named Limehouse one stop to the east. Stepney was renamed Stepney East in 1923, and in 1926 the other Limehouse station was closed. Stepney East adopted the current Limehouse name in 1987, just before the DLR opened.

Ratcliff or Ratcliffe is a locality in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It lies on the north bank of the River Thames between Limehouse (to the east), and Shadwell (to the west). The place name is no longer commonly used.
