It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) east of Dąbrowa and 6 km (4 mi) north-west of the regional capital Opole. Between 1871 and 1945, the area was part of Germany (see Territorial changes of Poland after World War II).

Brzezie [ˈbʐɛʑɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Dobrzeń Wielki, within Opole County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) east of Dobrzeń Wielki and 12 km (7 mi) north of the regional capital Opole.

Duchy of Opole (Polish: Księstwo opolskie; German: Herzogtum Oppeln; Czech: Opolské knížectví) was one of the duchies of Silesia ruled by the branch of Polish Piast dynasty. Its capital was Opole (Oppeln, Opolí) in Upper Silesia.

The Duchy of Opole and Racibórz (Polish: Księstwo opolsko-raciborskie, German: Herzogtum Oppeln und Ratibor) was one of the numerous Duchies of Silesia ruled by the Silesian branch of the royal Polish Piast dynasty. It was formed in 1202 from the union of the Upper Silesian duchies of Opole and the Racibórz, in a rare exception to the continuing feudal fragmentation of the original Duchy of Silesia. In 1281 it was split again. In 1521 it was recreated by the last Silesian Piast, Duke Jan II the Good. After his heirless death the duchy fell to the Kingdom of Bohemia. It was briefly part of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 17th century; eventually like most of the then mainly German-speaking province of Silesia it was annexed by Prussia after the First Silesian War in 1742.

The Cathedral of the Holy Cross (Polish: Katedra Podwyższenia Krzyża Świętego) also called Opole Cathedral is a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church that serves as a parish church and the cathedral city of Opole in Poland. The church belongs to the parish of the Holy Cross in Opole in the deanery of Opole, part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Opole (established in 1972). On April 3, 1964, the temple was entered in the register of regional monuments of Opole under number 763/64. The current church was built in the fifteenth century on the site where before there was a structure of the eleventh and thirteenth centuries. It was rebuilt several times. With towers with a height of 73 meters is the tallest structure in the city. In the temple there is a painting of the Virgin of Opole, brought there permanently in 1702. The Cathedral contains the Piast Chapel, which is the burial site of Duke Jan II the Good of the Piast dynasty.

Solaris Center is a commercial and entertainment complex in Opole, Poland, located on the Copernicus Square (pl. Plac Kopernika), next to the University of Opole. The Center was opened on March 4, 2009.
