Tremont Baptist Church

Tremont station (also known as Tremont–East 177th Street station) is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line, serving the Tremont section of the Bronx, New York City. It is 7.9 miles (12.7 km) from Grand Central Terminal and travel time there is approximately 17 minutes. The station is in an open cut at the intersection of Park Avenue and East Tremont Avenue (East 177th Street). Service at Tremont is limited; trains stop every 30 minutes during rush hours, every hour otherwise. The station is in the Zone 2 Metro-North fare zone.

The West Bronx is a region in the New York City borough of the Bronx. The region lies west of the Bronx River and roughly corresponds to the western half of the borough. The West Bronx is more densely populated than the East Bronx, and is closer to Upper Manhattan. From the late 17th century to the middle 19th century this included the central and southern part of the Town of Yonkers, but then became the separate Town of Kingsbridge. In 1874, the then towns of Kingsbridge, West Farms and Morrisania were transferred to New York County, becoming the first area outside Manhattan to be annexed by the City of New York. Today's West Bronx was then known as the "Annexed District". In 1895, the city annexed the modern-day East Bronx, followed in 1898 by western Queens County (today's borough of Queens, with the remainder of what was eastern Queens County becoming the newly formed Nassau County), all of the City of Brooklyn (today's borough of Brooklyn), and all of Richmond County (today's borough of Staten Island) to form the consolidated city of New York.Physically, the western parts of the Bronx are hilly, dominated by a series of parallel ridges running south to north. The West Bronx has older tenement buildings, low income public housing complexes, multifamily homes in its lower income areas as well as larger single family homes in more affluent areas such as Riverdale. It includes New York City's third largest park: Van Cortlandt Park which runs along the Westchester-Bronx border. The Grand Concourse, a wide ridgeline boulevard runs through the area from north to south. Because the West Bronx uses the same street numbering system as Manhattan, large portions of streets designated as "east" (e.g., East 161st Street) may actually be located west of the Bronx River. This is because the east-west divider is Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and Jerome Avenue in the Bronx, which is directly north of Fifth Avenue. Jerome Avenue was approximately the centerline of the original Annexed District, though not of the expanded modern Bronx.Prior to the 1970s, New Yorkers generally saw the Bronx as being split into its eastern and western halves. However, with the urban decay that hit the southwestern Bronx starting in the 1960s, people began to see the borough as being fundamentally divided between the southwestern area ("The South Bronx") and everywhere else.

Tremont Theatre was a theater constructed in about 1910 with seating for 942. It was located on Webster Avenue and East 178th Street, beside a New York Telephone Company building. One of the earliest purpose-built cinemas, it was known by various names during its use including Tremont Yiddish Theatre, Cinema Tremont, Moss's Tremont Avenue and the Hamilton Theater. It was located on East Tremont Avenue. The theater closed around 1960.Organ Specifications: It had a II/7 "Style 3" Wurlitzer, Op. 9 in 1912 and an M. P. Moller pipe organ, Opus 2952, 3 Manual/17 Rank installed in 1921 at a cost of $8,000.

Green Worker Cooperatives (GWC) is a non-profit organization that incubates environmentally sustainable worker cooperatives in the South Bronx of New York City. The organization, founded in 2003 by Omar Freilla, seeks to create green-collar jobs and promotes environmental justice through the creation of cooperatives. GWC is a member of the United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives. In 2008, Green Worker Cooperatives started ReBuilders Source, a worker cooperative that reuses discarded building materials. Founder Freilla received the Rockefeller Foundation’s Jane Jacobs Medal and $100,000 which he used to finance the organization. Rebuilders Source also received a $70,000 grant from Citgo.

Crotona Theatre at 453 East Tremont Avenue, in Bronx, New York opened in 1912 showing vaudeville. It had 2,210 seats and was one of William Fox’s first large theaters. Designed by Thomas W. Lamb, it had a Beaux Arts auditorium wainscotted in marble and red tapestry covering the walls. Movie showings were added and in the silent era a twelve-piece orchestra and a three manual Moller pipe organ (Op. 216) provided accompaniment. It closed in 1959 and became a factory/warehouse.The theater is pictured during a street view scene near the beginning of the 1958 movie The Colossus of New York.

The Tremont Avenue station is an express station on the IND Concourse Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and Grand Concourse, it is served by the D train at all times and B train during rush hours only. It has three tracks and two island platforms.

Tremont is a residential neighborhood in the West Bronx, New York City. Its boundaries are East 181st Street to the north, Third Avenue to the east, the Cross-Bronx Expressway to the south, and the Grand Concourse to the west. East Tremont Avenue is the primary thoroughfare through Tremont. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 6, and its ZIP Codes include 10453 and 10457. The local subway is the IND Concourse Line (B and ​D trains), operating along the Grand Concourse. The area is patrolled by the NYPD's 48th and 46th Precincts.

Royal Hospital was a medical facility housed in a privately owned New York City structure called The Professional Building.

48th Police Precinct Station is a historic police station located at 1925 Bathgate Avenue in the Tremont neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. It was completed in 1901 and is a freestanding, three story rectangular block, seven bays wide. The facades are composed of yellow brick with stone trim in the Italian Renaissance Revival style. It was formerly used by the New York City Police Department, but ceased use as a police station in the 1970s. As of June 2010, it was occupied by Sharon Baptist Headstart. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Church of St. Margaret Mary is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 1914 Morris Avenue in The Bronx, New York City. It was established in 1923.

The Eagle Academy for Young Men is an American all-boys' charter secondary school in the Bronx borough of New York City, New York. A part of the New York City Department of Education, it opened in 2004, established by the 100 Black Men of America organization. The school, intended to serve Latino/Hispanic and black boys, is a part of the Eagle Academy network of schools, which has campuses in other New York City boroughs and Newark, New Jersey.

Central Maternity Hospital was a Bronx hospital which opened 1938 and closed 1958. It was operated by Dr. Morris Leff, who initially called his facility Dr. Morris Leff Maternity Hospital.
