Borough Fen

Newborough is a village and a civil parish in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. Newborough is situated 7.62 km (4.74 mi) north of Peterborough. Newborough has a population of 1,670 according to the 2011 census Newborough is located along the B1443 and is a short distance away from the A16.

Stowgate is a small settlement in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) north-east from Deeping St James, and is linked to the Deepings group of villages. Stowgate contains very few houses, most of which are farmhouses. The settlement grew up around Stowgate Farm – the farmhouse of which still exists – which was divided into a number of smaller farms intended to provide housing and agricultural land for those who contributed to war effort. These farms still exist. Stowgate contains a Bernard Matthews turkey farm.

Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve, also known as Deeping Gravel Pits is a local nature reserve with an area of over 160 acres located south-east of Deeping St James in Lincolnshire, England. It includes part of the Deeping Gravel Pits SSSI and is placed within a Higher Level Stewardship scheme.

St James Deeping is a former railway station which served the village of Deeping St James and town of Market Deeping in Lincolnshire, England. It was on the Lincolnshire Loop Line between Lincoln and Peterborough via Boston and Spalding. It was also on the Peterborough-Lincoln Line which connected Peterborough to Lincoln, avoiding Boston, via Spalding and is still an active mainline through the station site.

Dogsthorpe Star Pit is a 36.4-hectare (90-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)) on the eastern outskirts of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. It is also designated a Local Nature Reserve, and it is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This former brick pit has been designated an SSSI mainly for its invertebrates, especially its water beetles, with 64 species, including four on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, Graptodytes bilineatus, Dryops similaris, Gyrinus distinctus and Myopites inulaedyssentericae. There are diverse habitats with grassland, scrub, reedbeds, sedge, bare clay and pools.There is access to the site by a footpath from Whitepost Road.

Eye Green is a hamlet in the unitary authority of Peterborough, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies north of Eye and south of Crowland. Eye Green Nature Reserve abounds the A47 Trunk Road, which separates Eye Green from its sister village of Eye. North of the nature reserve is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest, Eye Gravel Pit.

Eye Gravel Pit is a 0.4-hectare (0.99-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Eye Green in Cambridgeshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site, and part of it overlaps Eye Green Local Nature Reserve.This former gravel quarry in the East Anglian Fens has marine and a few non-marine shells laid down when the area was under the North Sea, probably during the warm Eemian period, 130,000 to 115,000 years ago. It is described by Natural England as important because it lies at the junction between fluvial and glacial deposits.The site is private land with no public access.

Crowland (modern usage) or Croyland (medieval era name and the one still in ecclesiastical use; cf. Latin: Croilandia) is a town in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated between Peterborough and Spalding. Crowland contains two sites of historical interest, Crowland Abbey and Trinity Bridge.

Trinity Bridge is a unique three-way stone arch bridge that stands at the heart of Crowland, Lincolnshire, England. While it once spanned the confluence of the River Welland and a tributary, the rivers have been re-routed, and it now spans nothing significant.

Eye Green Local Nature Reserve is a 12 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Eye Green in Cambridgeshire. It was managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire until September 2016, when management was transferred to its owner, Peterborough City Council. A small (and inaccessible) part is also in the Eye Gravel Pit geological Site of Special Scientific Interest.This site was formerly brick workings, and a large area is now filled by a lake. Reeds and scrub line much of the shore, providing cover for water birds such coots and moorhens, while dunnocks and great tits nest in dense scrub. There is grassland with many flowers, and diverse invertebrate species.There is access from Pershore Way.

Eye Green railway station was a station in Eye, Cambridgeshire, on the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line between Peterborough and Wisbech. The station was opened by the Peterborough, Wisbech and Sutton Bridge Railway (PW&SBR) on 1 August 1866 and was originally named "Eye"; it was renamed "Eye Green" on 1 October 1875. The PW&SBR became part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway. It later came under the control of British Railways and was closed on 2 December 1957. The station's name as given in some timetables "Eye Green for Crowland" was misleading, since a passenger would have a three-mile walk to Crowland. The station was adjacent to the Northam works of the London Brick Company. There was a busy siding where bricks were hand loaded onto trucks - before the days of palletisation. There were through trains to Hunstanton, via King's Lynn.

Peakirk is a village and civil parish in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For local government purposes it forms part of Glinton and Castor ward; for parliamentary purposes it falls within Peterborough constituency. In 2001, the parish had a population of 321 persons and 139 households.Pega (died c. 719), the sister of St Guthlac of Crowland, had her cell sited here. The privately owned, Grade-II-listed St Pega's Hermitage is possibly on the site. The parish church is uniquely dedicated to St Pega and the name of the village is derived from "Pega's church". The church is a Grade I listed building and has a fine series of wall paintings. It is said that Pega's heart was kept as a relic in the church, contained in a heart stone, the broken remains of which, smashed by Cromwell's troops, can be seen in the south aisle window.The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, founded by Sir Peter Scott in 1946 to preserve and maintain Britain's many species of waterfowl, had a reserve here until 2001.Peakirk-cum-Glinton Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School is situated in neighbouring Glinton; most secondary pupils attend Arthur Mellows Village College, also in Glinton. Peakirk's war memorial is a roll of honour. An oak-panelled frame with 48 photographs and details of the service of all who served from the village during the First World War, not just those who died.Peakirk Parish Council declared a climate emergency in 2019. As a result, the Peakirk Climate Emergency Group was set up in 2020.
