Newborough, Cambridgeshire

Borough Fen is a civil parish in the City of Peterborough unitary authority in Cambridgeshire, England. The parish is to the north of Peterborough city centre, just below the county border with Lincolnshire. Much of the land in the 19th century was owned by Sir Culling Eardley, 3rd Baronet, a strong supporter of the local boys' school. The land has predominantly been used for agriculture and cattle farming which is still a significant employment sector today. Described by John Marius Wilson in 1870 as "BOROUGH-FEN (Ville), an extra-parochial tract in Peterborough district, Northampton; 5 miles N by E of Peterborough. Acres, 3,130. Real property, £6,086. Pop., 202. Houses, 31."

Dogsthorpe Star Pit is a 36.4-hectare (90-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)) on the eastern outskirts of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. It is also designated a Local Nature Reserve, and it is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This former brick pit has been designated an SSSI mainly for its invertebrates, especially its water beetles, with 64 species, including four on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, Graptodytes bilineatus, Dryops similaris, Gyrinus distinctus and Myopites inulaedyssentericae. There are diverse habitats with grassland, scrub, reedbeds, sedge, bare clay and pools.There is access to the site by a footpath from Whitepost Road.

Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve, also known as Deeping Gravel Pits is a local nature reserve with an area of over 160 acres located south-east of Deeping St James in Lincolnshire, England. It includes part of the Deeping Gravel Pits SSSI and is placed within a Higher Level Stewardship scheme.

Gunthorpe is a residential area of the city of Peterborough, in the unparished area of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. Since 2015 Gunthorpe has its own ward within Peterborough City Council that also encompasses parts of South Werrington.Development in Gunthorpe has been ongoing since the 1950s. The new Roman Fields development is in progress across the A15 and will include parks and a new academy. Development at the Roman Fields has been concurrent since 2006.There has also been activity in the north of Paston which is now Gunthorpe Ridings- a large development dating back to 1982 to 1988 by Wilcon Homes. Previously Wilcon Homes's area office was located on Meal's Gate.On the primary road going straight through Gunthorpe, there is two shop units, a pub and school. The school being opened as a primary school in 1975 and the 2 shop units and pub all opening with the Wilcon Homes development although the shop units have switched firms multiple times.

John Mansfield School was located in the Dogsthorpe area of Peterborough, England. The school opened in 1957, when the estate had just been completed, and was originally an all-girls school for those who failed the 11+. In 1981, it became a mixed school opened to all student form year 7 to post 16. In 2007 the school was closed and merged with two other schools, Deacon's Secondary School and Hereward Community College. The new school was relocated and called the Thomas Deacon Academy of Peterborough. The school was opened in 1957 and was named after local councillor John Mansfield. In the mid-1970s the school became a mixed comprehensive school. It achieved excellent 'Value Added'results and received recognition as an improved school three years running. In 1995 the school began teaching sixth form courses and won Government School Achievement Awards in 2001 and 2002. In 2006 it was named the 53rd most improved school in Britain.In 2003 it was announced that the school would close and students would go to a new academy. The head teacher fought against the planned action and had a great deal of support from the local community. A few former students openly welcomed the idea in the local press after a misleading letter was published by one of the supporters of the campaign. The school closed in July 2007. The school had facilities for performing arts, with two art studios, several music rooms, a dance studio and a drama studio. Other additions to the school included an English/Design Technology/Maths block. It also had three Information Technology suits.

Dogsthorpe is a residential area and electoral ward of the city of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 9,620. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service maintain a fire station, crewed day and night and equipped with Water Tender, Rescue Vehicle and Aerial Platform, on Dogsthorpe Road.Dogsthorpe County Infant and Junior and All Saints Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Junior schools are located in the area; following the closure of John Mansfield School in July 2007, secondary pupils attend the Thomas Deacon Academy which opened in September 2007. Marshfields, a special school for pupils aged 10–19 with moderate learning difficulties, is also located here.

St James Deeping is a former railway station which served the village of Deeping St James and town of Market Deeping in Lincolnshire, England. It was on the Lincolnshire Loop Line between Lincoln and Peterborough via Boston and Spalding. It was also on the Peterborough-Lincoln Line which connected Peterborough to Lincoln, avoiding Boston, via Spalding and is still an active mainline through the station site.

Eye Green is a hamlet in the unitary authority of Peterborough, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies north of Eye and south of Crowland. Eye Green Nature Reserve abounds the A47 Trunk Road, which separates Eye Green from its sister village of Eye. North of the nature reserve is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest, Eye Gravel Pit.

Eye is a village in the unitary authority area of Peterborough, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The village is 4.5 miles (7 km) south from Crowland. The hamlet of Eye Green is 1⁄2 mile (800 m) to the north, separated by the A47 trunk road.

Eye Gravel Pit is a 0.4-hectare (0.99-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Eye Green in Cambridgeshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site, and part of it overlaps Eye Green Local Nature Reserve.This former gravel quarry in the East Anglian Fens has marine and a few non-marine shells laid down when the area was under the North Sea, probably during the warm Eemian period, 130,000 to 115,000 years ago. It is described by Natural England as important because it lies at the junction between fluvial and glacial deposits.The site is private land with no public access.
