Vlekkem

Egem is a hamlet in the sub-municipality of Bambrugge in the municipality of Erpe-Mere in Flanders. It is located on the Molenbeek, in the Denderstreek, within the southeast of East Flanders and belongs to the Arrondissement of Aalst. It is bordered by the sub-municipalities of Bambrugge proper, Vlekkem (municipality of Erpe-Mere), Ottergem (municipality of Erpe-Mere) and Zonnegem (municipality of Sint-Lievens-Houtem). Egem also borders the domain Steenberg. Egem consists of two streets, the Egemstraat and Everdal.

Ottergem is a sub-municipality of Erpe-Mere in Flanders. It is located on the Molenbeek in the Denderstreek, southeast of East Flanders and belongs to the Arrondissement of Aalst. The sub-municipality is bordered by the sub-municipalities of Erondegem, Erpe, Mere, Bambrugge (and its hamlet Egem) and Vlekkem and the municipality Sint-Lievens-Houtem (sub-municipality Vlierzele). Ottergem has 500 inhabitants as of 1 January 2003 and an area of 1.55 km. The population density is 322 inhabitants / km ².

Erondegem is a sub-municipality of Erpe-Mere in Flanders. It is located on the Molenbeek in the Denderstreek, southeast of East Flanders and belongs to the Arrondissement of Aalst. It is bordered by the sub-municipalities of Erpe and Ottergem and the municipalities of Sint-Lievens-Houtem (sub-municipality Vlierzele) and Lede (sub-municipality Impe). Erondegem has 1628 inhabitants as of 1 January 2003 and an area of 3.17 km. The population density is 513 inhabitants / km ².

Erpe-Mere (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɛrpəˈmeːrə]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders in the Denderstreek. The municipality comprises the towns of Aaigem, Bambrugge, Burst, Erondegem, Erpe, Mere, Ottergem and Vlekkem. There is also a hamlet in Bambrugge: Egem. Erpe-Mere is crossed by 2 brooks, the Molenbeek and the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek. In 2022 Erpe-Mere had a total population of 20,127. The total area is 34.03 km². The current mayor of Erpe-Mere is Hugo De Waele, from the CD&V (Christian Democratic) party.

Vlierzele is a village on the Molenbeek, in the Denderstreek, at the edge of the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of East Flanders, Belgium. It belongs to the municipality of Sint-Lievens-Houtem. Etymologically the name Vlierzele is derived from Fliteritsale (in 639) and Vliendersele (in 1412). Mere is a sub-municipality of Erpe-Mere in Flanders. It is located on the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek in the Denderstreek in the southeast of East Flanders and belongs to Arrondissement of Aalst. It is bordered by the sub-municipalities of Erpe, Ottergem, Bambrugge and Aaigem and the municipalities Haaltert (sub-municipality Haaltert) and Aalst (sub-municipality Nieuwerkerken). Mere has 5033 inhabitants as of 1 January 2003 and an area of 5.77 km. The population density is 873 inhabitants / km ².

Lede (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈleːdə] (listen)) is a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders, in the Denderstreek near the cities of Ghent, Aalst and Dendermonde. In 2011, Lede had a population of 17,882 and area of 29.69 km², a population density of 575 inhabitants per km². The current mayor of Lede is Geertrui Van de Velde (CD&V).

Mesen Castle was an important noble residence in Lede, Belgium, today partly ruined and completely abandoned. The castle is considered to have been one of the most important aristocratic estates of the 18th century.

Sint-Lievens-Houtem is crossed by the Molenbeek in Vlierzele, Zonnegem and Letterhoutem. It is named after Saint Livinus (Sint Lieven in Dutch), a Christian saint believed to have been buried there. The town comprises the former municipalities of Bavegem, Letterhoutem, Sint-Lievens-Houtem proper, Vlierzele, and Zonnegem, and the hamlets of Espenhoek, Cotthem, and Hoogveld, formerly parts of Oombergen.

The municipality comprises the villages of Borsbeke, Herzele proper, Hillegem, Ressegem, Sint-Antelinks, Sint-Lievens-Esse, Steenhuize-Wijnhuize and Woubrechtegem. In 2021, Herzele had a total population of 18,414. The total area is 47.40 km². The current mayor of Herzele is Johan Van Tittelboom, from the Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats party. Herzele is crossed by two brooks, the Molenbeek in Borsbeke, Herzele, Ressegem, and Hillegem, as well as the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek in Herzele, Sint-Lievens-Esse, Woubrechtegem, and Ressegem.

Haaltert (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦaːltərt]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders in the Denderstreek. The municipality comprises the towns of Denderhoutem, Haaltert proper, Heldergem and Kerksken. In 2021, Haaltert had a total population of 18,892. The total area is 30.30 km². The current mayor of Haaltert is Veerle Baeyens, from the N-VA. There is a 205 hectare nature reserve Den Dotter in the sub-municipalities of Aaigem (municipality Erpe-Mere) and Heldergem (municipality Haaltert). Haaltert is crossed by the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek creek in Heldergem, Kerksken, and Haaltert.
