Sint-Lievens-Houtem (Dutch pronunciation: [sɪnt ˌlivə(n)s ˈɦʌu̯tɛm] ; French: Hautem-Saint-Liévin, not officially recognized) is a Dutch-speaking municipality of Belgium. It is located in the Denderstreek and at the edge of the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the province of East Flanders (Flemish Region). Sint-Lievens-Houtem is crossed by the Molenbeek in Vlierzele, Zonnegem and Letterhoutem. It is named after Saint Livinus (Sint Lieven in Dutch), a Christian saint believed to have been buried there. The town comprises the former municipalities of Bavegem, Letterhoutem, Sint-Lievens-Houtem proper, Vlierzele, and Zonnegem, and the hamlets of Espenhoek, Cotthem, and Hoogveld, formerly parts of Oombergen.

Grotenberge is a village belonging to the municipality of Zottegem. It is located on the Molenbeek and the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek within the Denderstreek and the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the East Flanders province, Belgium. Grotenberge is known for the Domain of Breivelde, a 19th-century large garden, turned into a romantic style park with an arboretum. The park also hosts a castle. Construction started in 1830, the current state dates from around 1879. In 1970, the domain was bought by the city of Zottegem, and has received a protected state in 1982.The village was first mentioned as Grothemberge in 1235. It became an independent municipality in the 18th century, but merged into Zottegem in 1970. The former muncipality covered an area of 4.66 square kilometres (1.80 sq mi).

Vlierzele is a village on the Molenbeek, in the Denderstreek, at the edge of the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of East Flanders, Belgium. It belongs to the municipality of Sint-Lievens-Houtem. Etymologically the name Vlierzele is derived from Fliteritsale (in 639) and Vliendersele (in 1412). Breivelde Castle (Dutch: Kasteel (van) Breivelde) and the surrounding park Breivelde estate (Domein Breivelde) is a castle in Grotenberge, Zottegem in Belgium. Breivelde castle was built in Renaissance Revival architecture in 1904 by owner Philippe Plancqaert van Exen van Beauvechain, replacing a mansion erected in 1871 by former owner August De Rouck. It is surrounded by a public English landscape garden containing ponds, cascades and exotic trees. The imitation river bend (created around 1852) mirrors the castle in its waters. Since 1971 the domain is open to the public. The castle underwent several restorations; a new restoration phase started after 2021. It is a heritage monument landscape since 1982.

Rock Zottegem is a music festival organized annually in Zottegem, Belgium.The first edition took place in 1994. Through the years, it evaluated from a small free event in the city center of Zottegem to a mid-size festival outside the center. Since 2005, the format changed to a two-day (and occasionally three-day) festival, hosting up to 30,000 visitors.International artists like James Brown, Iggy Pop, Toto, ZZ Top, Elvis Costello and Deep Purple headlined Rock Zottegem.

Egem is a hamlet in the sub-municipality of Bambrugge in the municipality of Erpe-Mere in Flanders. It is located on the Molenbeek, in the Denderstreek, within the southeast of East Flanders and belongs to the Arrondissement of Aalst. It is bordered by the sub-municipalities of Bambrugge proper, Vlekkem (municipality of Erpe-Mere), Ottergem (municipality of Erpe-Mere) and Zonnegem (municipality of Sint-Lievens-Houtem). Egem also borders the domain Steenberg. Egem consists of two streets, the Egemstraat and Everdal.

Leeuwergem used to be part of the heerlijkheid of Zottegem. From 1271 onwards, it formed a heerlijkheid with Massemen. Vlekkem is a sub-municipality of Erpe-Mere in Flanders. It is located on the Molenbeek in the Denderstreek, southeast of East Flanders and belongs to the Arrondissement of Aalst. The sub-municipality is bordered by the hamlet Egem of the sub-municipality Bambrugge, the sub-municipality Ottergem and the municipality Sint-Lievens-Houtem (sub-municipalities Vlierzele and Zonnegem). Vlekkem has 292 inhabitants as of 1 January 2003 and an area of 1.22 km. The population density is 240 inhabitants / km ².
