The A&P Superintendent's House is a historic house in the Barelas neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was built in 1881 for Frank W. Smith, who used it as his base of operations while supervising construction of the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad from Albuquerque to Needles, California. It is built from red sandstone, believed to have been quarried near Laguna Pueblo, which was the same material used to build the A&P's maintenance facilities on the opposite side of Second Street. Those buildings were replaced by the Santa Fe Railway Shops beginning in 1912, leaving the Superintendent's House as the city's only surviving building associated with the A&P. The house was listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1975 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.The Superintendent's House is a one-and-a-half-story building with an intersecting gable roof and an open porch which wraps around the north and east sides. The walls are 18 inches (46 cm) thick and are constructed from sandstone blocks set in broken courses. The windows and door openings have stone lintels and sills with wood trim, and the porch features finely carved wooden pillars, cornices, and corbels ornamented with stars and arabesques. The north section of the house is side-gabled, with two dormers, and contains the living and dining rooms. The front-gabled south section contains two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen wing at the rear. The upper floor was originally constructed as servants' quarters but was later converted to a separate apartment.

The Hope Building is a historic commercial building in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Built in 1894, it is one of the only surviving 19th century buildings in Downtown Albuquerque. It was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Shoup Boarding House was a historic boarding house in the Barelas neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was probably built between 1886 and 1891, a period when the recent completion of the railroad brought a great deal of economic activity, and consequent need for new housing, to the city. Joseph Shoup (c. 1858–1938) ran the rooming house until 1932, and it remained in operation at the time of its National Register of Historic Places listing in 1983. It was the oldest surviving boarding house in the city. It was also listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1980. The building was demolished before 1991. The boarding house was a two-story, T-shaped building consisting of two distinct sections. The front section was constructed from brick, with a truncated hip roof and a large porch with Queen Anne trim. The rear wing was of frame construction, with a gable roof and several closely spaced doors and windows. The building contained nine rooms on the ground floor and 17 on the second floor.

The Charles W. Lewis Building is a historic building in the Barelas neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places. It was built around 1882 by Charles W. Lewis (1844–1901), a native of Peralta, New Mexico who came to Albuquerque in 1873. Lewis was one of many Albuquerque residents to get involved in land speculation as the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway approached the town in the late 1870s. Once the railroad arrived, Lewis was able to subdivide a valuable piece of land near the tracks and used one of the lots for the building described here, which was probably built as rental housing. In 1915 it was reportedly being operated as a saloon.The building is a one-story, rectangular brick structure with a hipped roof supported by distinctive triangular brick corbels that wrap around all four sides. Originally front of the building had two doors and two sash windows; a third door was added later and the original transoms and window arches have been stuccoed over. The interior of the building has four rooms arranged in a linear plan, with a later addition at the rear.

The Barelas-South Fourth Street Historic District is a historic district in Albuquerque, New Mexico which encompasses the commercial district along 4th Street in the Barelas neighborhood. The district extends from Stover Avenue in the north to Bridge Boulevard in the south, covering a distance of about 0.6 miles (0.97 km). It contains 45 contributing buildings, mostly automobile-oriented commercial buildings constructed between 1925 and 1956, though some houses which predate the commercial development are also present. The section of 4th Street included in the district was part of U.S. Route 66 from 1926 to 1937 and was also the main commercial area in Barelas.

Coronado Elementary School is a historic elementary school in the Barelas neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Built in 1936–37 as a Public Works Administration project, it is the city's third-oldest operating elementary school. Coronado School was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It is a part of Albuquerque Public Schools.

The Lobo Special Events Platform is an inactive limited use platform on the New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter rail line. MRCOG created the station in 2009 at a cost of $1 million (equivalent to $1.3 million in 2021), split between MRCOG and The University of New Mexico. It was created as an incentive for residents of the region to use alternative transportation to attend University of New Mexico sports games as well as games of the Albuquerque Isotopes minor baseball team at Isotopes Park. The station was last used in 2009 and only ever opened during four sporting events, when it serviced a cumulative total of 227 passengers. Bus shuttles provided service from the platform to the stadiums. Each Rail Runner station contains an icon to express each community's identity. The icons representing this station are a Lobo, using the sports mascot from the University of New Mexico Athletic Department, and the logo for the Albuquerque Isotopes. The last time the Rail Runner stopped at the station was in December 2009, for the New Mexico Bowl. Afterwards, the station became inactive, and the Rail Runner website no longer acknowledges the platform on its website or any of its materials. MRCOG cited the costs associated with chartering buses and low ridership interest as reasons for not using the platform. Neither MRCOG, Rio Metro, or UNM have held any discussions regarding the future use of the station.

Barelas is an inner-city neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico, located immediately south of Downtown. It consists of the triangular area bounded by Coal Avenue, the BNSF railroad tracks, and the Rio Grande. Originally a separate village, it was absorbed into Albuquerque during the railroad-fueled growth of the 1880s but still retains a distinct identity. The settlement was formally established in 1662, predating even Old Town as the oldest neighborhood in the city. Although it was long one of Albuquerque's most economically distressed areas, Barelas has seen significant development since the opening of the National Hispanic Cultural Center in 2000 and may be starting to experience gentrification. The neighborhood's main commercial area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Barelas-South Fourth Street Historic District.

First United Methodist Church is an historic Methodist church in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. The church was chartered in 1880 and the original building, constructed between 1880 and 1882, was the first church in New Town. By the turn of the century, the original sanctuary was found inadequate and was demolished. In 1904, a new sanctuary, now known as the Fellowship Hall, was built to replace this original adobe church on the same site. The architect was Charles Frederick Whittlesey and Tiffany-style windows were installed some short time after the completion of the building.By 1955, this sanctuary itself was outgrown and so a larger sanctuary was built on the property. The building was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1975 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The AT&SF Freight Office is a historic building in Downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was built by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in 1946 and is a notable example of Mission Revival architecture. The building was listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 2012 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.The Freight Office was built as part of the modernization of the AT&SF freight handling facilities, which also included a much larger wood-framed freight warehouse which extended 450 feet (140 m) south to the Coal Avenue viaduct. The warehouse and its associated loading platform were demolished in the 1980s when the railroad moved its regional freight operations to Belen. The Freight Office survived and is currently part of the Alvarado Transportation Center property, though vacant.The building is two stories high with a basement and was designed in a stripped-down Mission style to harmonize with adjacent railroad buildings including the depot and the Alvarado Hotel, both no longer standing. It is built from structural clay tile with a concrete frame, and the exterior is finished with pebble-dash stucco. The front elevation of the building includes a flat-roofed entry porch, wood-framed sash windows with heavy concrete lintels, and original neon signs.

El Modelo (originally El Modelo Tortilla Factory) is a Mexican and New Mexican cuisine restaurant in the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, which was founded in 1929. It is located in the historic neighborhood of Barelas.
