Edwardstown railway station

Emerson Crossing, the 'South Road Overpass' or simply 'the Overpass' are the informal names given to the intersection of South Road, Cross Road and the Seaford railway line in Adelaide, South Australia. South Road crosses north–south over both Cross Road and the diagonal railway via a large bridge built in the early 1980s. This was done in an attempt to cater for the ever increasing amount of traffic which went through the intersection and was constantly congested during peak hour times. Emerson railway station is located in the north eastern corner of the crossing. The station and crossing are both named after Emerson Street, a small dead end road just north of the intersection along South Road, in the suburb of Black Forest.The grade separation at Emerson Crossing is by a 3-span bridge. The centre span is 40 metres (130 ft), with a 31.2 metres (102 ft) span each end. The abutments and embankments were constructed using the reinforced earth system and completed in 1983. The main bridge work was awarded to Baulderstone. It was commenced in January 1984 and was completed in 13 months. The overpass was designed by the Highways Department of South Australia. It incorporates Texas U-turn facilities. It was officially opened jointly by John Bannon (the Premier of South Australia) and Peter Morris (the Federal Minister of Transport) on 14 March 1985.

Emerson railway station is located on the Seaford and Flinders lines. Situated in the inner south-western Adelaide suburb of Black Forest, it is 7.1 kilometres from Adelaide station.

Clarence Gardens is an inner southern suburb of Metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Mitcham, 4.6 kilometres south of the City Centre. It is bounded to the north by Cross Road, the west by South Road, the east by Winston Avenue and the south by Edward Street. There are many sporting venues in Clarence Gardens which include the Clarence Gardens Lawn Bowls club and the Clarence Gardens Rugby club, both of which are in the A.A. Bailey Recreational Ground facility. Clarence Gardens Post Office opened on 1 August 1946. It was renamed Clarence Gardens North in 1967 on the same day Edwardstown office (open since 1850) was renamed Clarence Gardens. The Clarence Gardens North office closed in 1980 and Clarence Gardens reverted to Edwardstown in 1987.

Edwardstown was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia from 1956 to 1970.Edwardstown replaced the Electoral district of Goodwood, Frank Walsh being the last member for Goodwood. Edwardstown was replaced by the Electoral district of Ascot Park.At the 2018 state election, the suburb of Edwardstown was in Labor seats of Badcoe.

Edwardstown is an inner southern-western suburb located 6 km southwest of Adelaide in the City of Marion. In 1989 the suburb of Edwardstown was split, with the portion east of South Road becoming Melrose Park. This occurred as the suburb was quite large, located on either side of South Road and was in the jurisdiction of two local government councils, with the larger western side belonging to the City of Marion. Edwardstown is in the South Australian House of Assembly districts of Badcoe and Elder, and the Australian House of Representatives Division of Boothby. Edwardstown is home to the Castle Plaza Shopping Centre. Edwardstown is served by the Woodlands Park and Edwardstown railway stations. The current suburb of Edwardstown includes localities previously known as Hammersmith, Woodlands Park, St Mary's West, Ackland Gardens and Mirreen.

Goodwood was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia from 1938 to 1956.Goodwood was abolished in a boundary redistribution in 1956, mostly replaced by the Electoral district of Edwardstown. The suburb of Goodwood is currently divided between the seats of Ashford and Unley.

Coast FM is an Australian community radio station based in Glandore, South Australia. It transmits on 88.7 FM, and is licensed to transmit to the Southern and Western areas of Adelaide.Officially known as Southern & Western Community Broadcasters Inc., it was incorporated and began test transmissions in 1986. It transmits locally produced music programs of many genres, and also has a multitude of Adelaide community based programmes. These include programmes about sports including Australian rules football and bowls, community based organisations, and smaller charitable organisations that don't receive exposure through other local media.All of its presenters are volunteers, and its studio is manned 24 hours a day. Coast FM is a Member of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, and a member station of South Australian Community Broadcasters Association. It maintains programmes that comply with the CBAA Codes Of Practice, and programmes are regularly reviewed for their compliance.

Black Forest is an inner southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Unley, bounded by the Glenelg tram line (north-west), the Seaford railway line (south-east), South Road (west) and East Avenue (east).

Castle Plaza is a shopping centre located in the Adelaide suburb of Edwardstown, South Australia approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) from the CBD, along South Road. It was expanded in the mid 1980s and the new development was opened in July 1987. Attending that day were a number of local personalities including John Platten. Providing the guard of honour were the 1st Ascot Park Scout Group. It contains three major tenants (Target, Coles, Foodland Supermarkets) and the Castle Tavern (including gaming room) as well as about 66 specialty stores, plus two free standing fast food outlets. In July 2007, owners CFS Retail Property Trust announced that they had purchased the Hills Industries site (7.78 hectares) directly opposite Castle Plaza (north side of Raglan Avenue) for $25.3 million and that there were plans for a further $80 million retail development on this site subject to approval by City of Marion Council.

Woodlands Park railway station is the junction station for the Seaford and Flinders lines. Situated in the inner south-western Adelaide suburb of Edwardstown, it is 9.1 kilometres from Adelaide station.

Badcoe is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election.Badcoe lies south-west of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of Keswick, Ashford, Forestville, Everard Park, Black Forest, Clarence Park, Clarence Gardens, Kurralta Park, Glandore, Edwardstown, Ascot Park, North Plympton, South Plympton and parts of Millswood and Plympton. At its creation, Badcoe was projected to be notionally held by the Labor Party with a swing of 4.2% required to lose it.: Appendix 12 Badcoe is named after Peter John Badcoe (1934–1967) who grew up in Adelaide before joining the Australian Army in 1952. He served in artillery and infantry and was killed in the Vietnam War.Badcoe was created as a replacement for Ashford, which was abolished at the 2018 state election. In February 2017 the member for Ashford, Steph Key, announced that she did not intend to contest the 2018 election.

Tabor College is an Australian Christian tertiary college offering a range of liberal arts courses from certificate to post-graduate studies in the areas of counselling, education, ministry, performing arts, mission, youth studies and humanities. The college is based in Adelaide, South Australia with a campus in Perth. The Adelaide campus, formerly including the national headquarters, is housed in heritage listed buildings in Millswood, which were formerly the Goodwood Orphanage and more recently an education centre.
