New Cross railway station serves New Cross in south-east London, England. It is 4 miles 68 chains (7.8 km) down the line from London Charing Cross and is in London fare zone 2. The platforms are lettered rather than numbered to avoid confusion with those at New Cross Gate by staff who worked at both stations before privatisation of the stations in 1997. Platform D is used exclusively by London Overground services. Ticket barriers control access to all platforms.

The Amersham Arms is a pub and music venue located at 388 New Cross Road, in the New Cross area of the London Borough of Lewisham in south-east London.

The New Cross house fire was a fire that occurred during a party at a house in New Cross, south-east London, in the early hours of Sunday, 18 January 1981. The blaze killed 13 young black people aged between 14 and 22, and one survivor took his own life two years later.No one has ever been charged in connection with the fire, which forensic science subsequently established started inside the house. Inquests into the deaths were held in 1981 and 2004. Both inquests recorded open verdicts. In the immediate aftermath of the fire, a New Cross Massacre Action Committee (NCMAC) was set up, chaired by John La Rose, which organised a "Black People's Day of Action" on 2 March 1981, when some 20,000 people marched over a period of eight hours through London, carrying placards that bore statements including: "13 Dead, Nothing Said".

Deptford Green School is a coeducational comprehensive secondary school in Deptford, Lewisham, England with approximately 1100 pupils. Deptford Green also has specialisms in Humanities, with English, Citizenship and Drama as flagship subjects. The school was also part of the former Crossways Federation, being one of four feeder schools to Crossways Sixth Form, along with Addey and Stanhope School, Catford Business and Enterprise College and Crofton School. In January 2012 Bill Gates visited the school as part of the speakers for schools project. He stated that "Deptford Green is a model of a global school with socially conscious students." Boris Johnson has also visited the school.

The Lewisham Academy of Music was a walk-in music academy which operated in London from 1980 to 2000.

The Royal Albert is a Grade II listed pub located at 460 New Cross Road, on the border of the New Cross and Deptford areas of the London Borough of Lewisham in south-east London.

The A20 is a major road in south-east England, carrying traffic from London to Dover in Kent. Parts of the route date back to turnpikes established in the early part of the 18th century. The line of the road throughout Kent runs closely in parallel with the M20 motorway.

Fordham Park is a public park in New Cross, London, England, owned and managed by the London Borough of Lewisham. It lies in between New Cross and New Cross Gate railway stations, and just north of the A2 road between London and Dover. It is immediately south to Deptford Green School, and is often used by students as a sports area. The park in New Cross was regenerated in 2010 with new lighting, trees, furniture and play elements being added to the park.The park contains a public memorial plaque and bench dedicated to the victims of the New Cross house fire of 1981; the memorials were installed in 2012.

The Albany is a multi-purpose arts centre in Deptford, south-east London. Facilities include a flexible performance space holding up to 300 seated or 500 standing and a bar, two studio theatres, a performance cafe and rehearsal / meeting rooms. The Albany currently hosts a varied programme of events including music, spoken word, theatre, club nights, and children's shows. Several arts and community organisations are based at the Albany including spoken-word promoters Apples & Snakes and Heart n Soul, who provide opportunities for artists with learning disabilities.

Goldsmiths, University of London, officially the Goldsmiths' College, is a constituent research university of the University of London in England. It was originally founded in 1891 as The Goldsmiths' Technical and Recreative Institute by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in New Cross, London. It was renamed Goldsmiths' College after being acquired by the University of London in 1904 and specialises in the arts, design, humanities and social sciences. The main building on campus, known as the Richard Hoggart Building, was originally opened in 1792 and is the site of the former Royal Naval School.According to Quacquarelli Symonds (2021), Goldsmiths ranks 12th in Communication and Media Studies, 15th in Art & Design and is ranked in the top 50 in the areas of Anthropology, Sociology and the Performing Arts. In 2020, the university enrolled over 10,000 students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 37% of students come from outside the United Kingdom and 52% of all undergraduates are mature students (aged 21 or over at the start of their studies). Additionally, around a third of students at Goldsmiths are postgraduate students.

Addey and Stanhope School is a voluntary-aided, co-educational secondary school, located in Lewisham, London, England. It is a former grammar school and sixth form, with origins dating to 1606. The headmistress is currently Miss Jan Shapiro.

The Goldsmiths Tavern was a pub and venue for both live music and comedy located at 316 New Cross Road, in the New Cross area of the London Borough of Lewisham in south-east London. It was the original venue of Vic Reeves Big Night Out, a live comedy night he started there in 1986 before moving it to the Albany Empire in 1988, and also where Reeves met future comedy partner Bob Mortimer. Whilst generally attracting a mixed clientele, it held gay nights in the 1980s and was considered an LGBTQ friendly space. Paul O'Grady would also perform there. The building is still a pub, though now named The New Cross House as it had been previously. Nathan Dews' book The History of Deptford from 1884 refers to a pub of that name "at the top of Clifton Hill", and so presumably in roughly the same spot. An issue of the Berkshire Chronicle from 16 July 1825 also refers to an establishment of that name in Deptford. In the 1960s Goldsmiths University students ran a folk club there.
