The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) (German: Institut für Quantenoptik und Quanteninformation) is a member institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and was founded in November 2003, to create an Austrian research center for the newly developing fields of theoretical and experimental quantum optics and quantum information. It has two independent sites -- Innsbruck and Vienna -- with around 80 employees each. The institute is dedicated to fundamental research in quantum optics, quantum information, quantum foundations, and quantum communication, both theoretical and experimental. The Innsbruck site has seven research teams led by Rainer Blatt, Francesca Ferlaino, Rudolf Grimm, Gerhard Kirchmair, Hannes Pichler, Oriol Romero-Isart and Peter Zoller. The Vienna site has seven teams, led by Markus Aspelmeyer, Časlav Brukner, Marcus Huber, Markus Müller, Miguel Navascues, Rupert Ursin, and Anton Zeilinger, as well as the recently established YIRGs (Young Independent Researcher Groups), led by Ämin Baumeler, Costantino Budroni, and Yelena Guryanova.The two sites are independent research centers with strong links to the University of Innsbruck and the University of Vienna. Thereby a close exchange of students and postdocs is established, and the members of the institute can be integrated into teaching at the universities.

The Medical University of Vienna (German: Medizinische Universität Wien) is a public university located in Vienna, Austria. It is the direct successor to the faculty of medicine at the University of Vienna, founded in 1365 by Rudolf IV, Duke of Austria. As one of the oldest medical schools in the world, it is the oldest in the German-speaking countries, and was the second medical faculty in the Holy Roman Empire, after the Charles University of Prague. The Medical University of Vienna is the largest medical organisation in Austria, as well as one of the top-level research institutions in Europe and provides Europe's largest hospital, the Vienna General Hospital, with all of its medical staff. It consists of 31 university clinics and clinical institutes, and 12 medical-theoretical departments, which perform around 48,000 operations each year. The Vienna General Hospital has about 100,000 patients treated as inpatients and 605,000 treated as outpatients each year.There have been seven Nobel prize laureates affiliated with the medical faculty, and fifteen in total with the University of Vienna. These include Robert Bárány, Julius Wagner-Jauregg and Karl Landsteiner, the discoverer of the ABO blood type system and the Rhesus factor. Sigmund Freud qualified as a doctor at the medical faculty and worked as a doctor and lecturer at the General Hospital, carrying out research into cerebral palsy, aphasia and microscopic neuroanatomy.In the 2014–15 Times Higher Education Rankings, the Medical University of Vienna is listed among the top 15 medical schools in Europe and 49th in the world for category of Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health.In 2019, there were 8,217 applicants for 660 places in medicine proper and 80 in dentistry, which corresponds to an admission rate of about 9,01% Admission is based upon ranking in an admission test called "MedAT", which is carried out every summer in conjunction with the three other public medical schools of Austria: the Medical University of Graz, the Medical University of Innsbruck and the Medical Faculty at the Johannes Kepler University Linz.

The Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics (ESI) is a visitors oriented research institute in Vienna, Austria. It is located close to the city center in the remodeled historical premises of a seminary in Boltzmanngasse 9 in Vienna's ninth district. The Institute was founded upon the initiatives of Peter W. Michor and Walter Thirring and opened on 20 April 1993. It was run by the private ESI association under the auspices of the Austrian Ministry of Science until 31 December 2010. Since 1 June 2011 the ESI has been embedded into the University of Vienna. It has close connections with the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna.The ESI hosts high-profile thematic programs, workshops, summer and winter schools, junior and senior research fellowships, as well as a program for research in teams. The ESI publishes Scientific Reports with detailed records of activities, guests, and related preprints. In 2019, the year before the COVID-19 pandemic, the ESI recorded an all-time high of 1116 participants and 171 preprints related to its activities. The ESI is managed by the ESI Director, who is supported by two Deputy Directors and reports directly to the Rectorate of the University of Vienna. The Director and the Deputy Directors are part of the ESI Kollegium, which is composed of three professors from the Faculty of Mathematics and three from the Faculty of Physics. The Kollegium oversees the operation of the Institute and decides over proposals for potential future workshops, schools, fellowships, and research in teams at the ESI based on a peer review process and available resources. Decisions on future thematic programs at the ESI are made by a Scientific Advisory Board that is composed of six to eight international peers.The current ESI Director is Christoph Dellago; the Scientific Advisory Board is chaired by Sandra Di Rocco.As of 2020, the Institute awards the annual Medal of the Erwin Schrödinger Institute for Mathematics and Physics (or ESI Medal, for short) to celebrate recent breakthroughs in any area of mathematics or physics. The selection is made by the Scientific Advisory Board based on nominations from previous recipients of the ESI Medal, organizers of thematic programs at the ESI, former ESI Directors, former members of the ESI Scientific Advisory Board, and the president of the ESI Association. The Palais Clam-Gallas is a palace in Neo-classical or Biedermeier style in Vienna, Austria. It was built in 1834 or 1835 by Prince Franz Joseph von Dietrichstein as a summer residence.

The Institut français de Vienne or French Institute in Vienna is an Institut français in Vienna, Austria. It is a French public institution attached to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of France. The promotion of French culture overseas is its main mission. The French Institute in Vienna is housed in the Palais Clam-Gallas.

The Spanish Military Hospital of Vienna was an early hospital in Vienna, founded in 1717 by Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor and located at what is now 9-9a Boltzmanngasse in the Alsergrund district. Since 1 April 2003 the building has been a protected monument. Since 2014 it has been being remodelled under the leadership of regent Richard Tatzreiter to accommodate the clergy seminaries of the Roman Catholic dioceses of Vienna, Eisenstadt and Sankt Pölten.

Palais Chotek is a Baroque palace in Vienna, Austria. It is located at Währinger Straße 28 in the IX. district of Alsergrund. The building is named after the noble Chotek family. For over a century, it has been the headquarters of the Friedrich Otto Schmidt home furnishings company.

The Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) is the central bank of Austria and, as such, an integral part of both the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and the Eurozone. It started operations on 1 January 1923, replacing the Austro-Hungarian Bank of which it adopted the original name at its creation in 1816 (German: privilegirte oesterreichische National-Bank). In the public interest, the Oesterreichische Nationalbank contributes to monetary and economic policy decision-making in Austria and in the Euro area. In line with the Federal Act on the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, the OeNB is a stock corporation. Given its status as a central bank, it is, however, governed by a number of special provisions, as laid down in the Nationalbank Act. The OeNB's capital totals €12 million and is held by a sole shareholder, the federal government. The shareholder rights of the federal government are exercised by the Minister of Finance. Since May 2010, this capital is entirely held by the Austrian state. Previously half of the capital was in the hands of employer and employee organizations as well as banks and insurance corporations. Until January 1999, when Austria adopted the euro, the bank was responsible for the former national currency, the Austrian schilling.

The Strudlhofstiege is an outdoor staircase of architectural and literary significance in Vienna, Austria. Located in the Alsergrund district, it is named after a former art school run by the painter Peter Strudel (c. 1660 – 1714).

The Billrothhaus is the headquarters of the Gesellschaft der Ärzte in Wien (College of Physicians in Vienna). It was named after Theodor Billroth, an Austrian physician and former president of the society.

Palais Szeps is located at Liechtensteinstraße 51 in Vienna's 9th district Alsergrund.

Lycée Français de Vienne ("French Lycée of Vienna") is a French curriculum secondary school in Alsergrund, Vienna. The Lycée Français de Vienne is one of the world's largest schools accredited by the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE) and has more than 2000 students. The private school shares its boarding school with Theresianum. Furthermore, the school is currently renowned for its excellence.
