SC Whitmore School in South Carolina is a virtual school that is authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District, an extension of the South Carolina Department of Education. Chapin, popularly known as the "Capital of Lake Murray", is a small lake town located at the northern tip of Lexington County, South Carolina, United States. Little Mountain is a monadnock that is the highest point in the Midlands region of South Carolina. It has an elevation of 813 feet (247 m) above mean sea level and is located in southeastern Newberry County, about 25 miles from Columbia. The monadnock itself rises 300 feet above the surrounding belt of hills and is formed of Carolina slate. In its early history (dating back to the 19th century) it was known as Ruff's Mountain and eventually took the name of the town that incorporated at its foot, Little Mountain. It was originally part of Lexington County until 1917 and currently has a radio tower that serves the northwestern exurban area of Columbia on its summit that reaches 1040 feet at its top.

The district encompasses 50 contributing buildings and 2 contributing structures in the railroad town of Little Mountain. The buildings date from about 1890 to 1950 and include residences, businesses, and other institutional buildings. They include examples of the Gothic Revival, Neo-Classical, Colonial Revival, Victorian or Queen Anne, and Bungalow styles.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Ballentine-Shealy House, also known as the Ballentine-Shealy-Slocum House, is a historic home located near Lexington, Lexington County, South Carolina. It was built in the late-18th or early-19th century, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, rectangular log building. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has a standing seam metal gable roof. It has shed rooms on the rear and a one-story shed-roofed front porch with an enclosed room. The house has a hall-and-parlor plan and an enclosed stair. An open breezeway connects the house to the kitchen (ca. 1870), which has a fieldstone and brick chimney and a side porch. Also on the property a dilapidated dairy, a small log barn, and a well house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

St. John Lutheran Church is a historic Lutheran congregation in Pomaria, South Carolina affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.It traces its origins to 1754, when Reformed minister Rev. John Glasser of Thurgau moved to the area to minister to nearby German-speaking settlements. It was the first Reformed church in the Dutch Fork.After worshipping in log cabins, the congregation moved into the "Old White Church", a painted wood-frame structure, in 1809. The historic church served as its house of worship for 141 years, until the modern brick structure was opened in 1950. The Old White Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
