The Oasis on Lake Travis is a restaurant on the western edge of Austin, Texas. The restaurant promotes itself as the "Sunset Capital of Texas" with its terraced views looking West over Lake Travis. The thirty thousand square foot restaurant sits on a bluff 450 feet above the lake and is the largest outdoor restaurant in Texas. The restaurant was first built in 1982 by Houston entrepreneur Beau Theriot, who purchased a 500-acre (2.0 km2) ranch overlooking the lake and converted it into the current multi-use venue.On the morning of June 1, 2005, a lightning strike ignited a fire which consumed much of the property. Parts of the facility that were not damaged were reopened within weeks, while other parts were rebuilt.

Marshall Ford is a small unincorporated community in Travis County, Texas, United States. Mansfield Dam is built across a canyon in Marshall Ford, forming Lake Travis. A post office operated in Marshall Ford between 1937 and 1942.

Lake Travis is a reservoir on the Colorado River in central Texas in the United States. Serving principally as a flood-control reservoir, Lake Travis' historical minimum to maximum water height change is nearly 100 feet. In 2018 alone, it saw a 20-foot depth increase within a single 24-hour period of time. With 30 square miles of surface area, Lake Travis has the largest storage capacity of the seven reservoirs known as the Highland Lakes, and stretches 65 miles (105 km) upriver from western Travis County in a highly serpentine course into southern Burnet County to Max Starcke Dam, southwest of the town of Marble Falls. Besides being used for flood control and as a water supply, the lake is also used for electrical power generation and recreation. The Pedernales River, a major tributary of the Colorado River, flows into the lake from southwestern Travis County.

Mansfield Dam (formerly Marshall Ford Dam) is a dam located across a canyon at Marshall Ford on the Colorado River, 13 miles (21 km) northwest of Austin, Texas. The groundbreaking ceremony occurred on February 19, 1937, with United States Secretary of the Interior Harold L. Ickes attending. The dam was a joint project by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the United States Bureau of Reclamation, with partial funding provided by the Public Works Administration. Brown and Root, headed by James E. Walters, Sr., was the prime contractor. The dam was completed in 1941. Originally called Marshall Ford Dam, the name was changed in 1941 in honor of United States Representative J.J. Mansfield. The reservoir behind Mansfield Dam is named Lake Travis. The dam is owned and operated by the LCRA. Mansfield Dam is 278 feet (85 m) high, 7,089 feet (2 km) long, and 213 feet (65 m) thick at the base. The concrete gravity dam with embankment wings and saddle dikes was designed to control flooding; to store 1.4 km³ (369 billion US gallons) of water; and to generate hydroelectric power (108 megawatts). The Spillway Elevation is 714 feet (218 m) above Mean Sea Level (MSL). LCRA begins to open floods gates when water reaches 681 feet above MSL. At 681 feet (208 m) above MSL, discharge capacity exceeds 130,000 cubic feet per second (3,700 m3/s) as the lake rises. A two-lane highway, RM 620, crossed the top of the dam, but traffic congestion brought on by the growth of the city of Austin and expanded popularity of recreation at Lake Travis forced the state to build a four-lane highway bridge on the downstream side of the dam, and RM 620 was rerouted over that bridge. Traffic is no longer allowed on the road across the dam, except for service vehicles.

Hudson Bend is a census-designated place (CDP) in Travis County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,981 at the 2010 census.

Concordia University Texas is a private, coeducational institution of liberal arts and sciences located in northwest Austin, in the U.S. state of Texas. The university offers undergraduate, graduate, and online degrees as well as an adult degree program for part-time and returning students. Concordia University Texas is affiliated with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) and is a member of the Concordia University System, the seven-member association of LCMS colleges and universities. As a Lutheran university, Concordia's stated mission is to develop Christian leaders.

KUTX (98.9 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Leander, Texas and serving the greater Austin, Texas area with an adult album alternative format. The station is owned by University of Texas at Austin with headquarters at the Belo Center for New Media (A0704) on the University of Texas at Austin campus.

Steiner Ranch is a planned community and census-designated place (CDP) in Travis County, Texas, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.It is in the west-central part of the county, occupying 4,600 acres (1,900 ha) on a ridge running within a large bend on the north side of the Colorado River between Lake Travis and Lake Austin. The community is surrounded by the city limits of Austin, the state capital, and is 18 miles (29 km) by road northwest of downtown. Real estate developer Al Hughes initially purchased the land for development in the late 1980s from the Steiner family. The neighborhood grew throughout the 1990s and, as of 2017, had a population of around 15,000. It currently contains three elementary schools, one middle school and a variety of community parks, recreation centers and trails.

Tom Glenn High School, commonly known as Glenn High School or simply GHS, is a high school located in Leander, Texas. It opened in the 2016–2017 school year as the sixth high school of Leander Independent School District. As of 2016, the school is the northern most high school in the district. The school (as of 2016) is the district's newest school, and the school started with freshmen and sophomores for the first school year.

Vandegrift High School is a public high school in Austin, Texas. It educates students in grades 9-12 for the Leander Independent School District.

Canyon Creek is a residential neighborhood located in far northwest Austin, Texas. The neighborhood is located in ZIP Code 78726 and is bordered by Ranch to Market Road 2222 (RM 2222) on the south, Ranch to Market Road 620 (RM 620) on the west, Anderson Mill Road on the north, and a major headwater tributary of Bull Creek to the east as well as the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. The major bisecting road is Boulder Lane, a loop which crosses RM 620 at the north and south entrances. The neighborhood is approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) from Lake Travis and Lake Austin. Canyon Creek was former ranch and hunting land, much of which was once a working cattle ranch owned by former US Congressman J. J. Pickle. It was developed by the Blanton Company in the wake of the savings and loan crisis in the United States in the late 1980s. Perry Blanton and his company envisioned and developed a completely planned community filled with homes, parks, and connecting trails. It contains significant protected habitat for the golden-cheeked warbler and black-capped vireo, two endangered bird species native to central Texas. The neighborhood developed rapidly in the 1990s, and was completely built out by 2005. In the mid-1990s, Round Rock Independent School District authorized the construction of Canyon Creek Elementary School in the neighborhood. In 2009 a lawsuit brought by Canyon Creek, Northwest Austin Municipal Utility District No. 1 v. Holder, regarding the relocation of a polling place, was heard before the Supreme Court of the United States

Cedar Park High School (CPHS) is a high school in Cedar Park, Texas; it was established in 1998 to serve as the second high school in the Leander Independent School District. The school was built due to the rapid growth in the area. The school's mascot is the Timberwolf, and the colors of CPHS are Forest Green, Silver, and Black. Cedar Park High School competes in UIL district. CPHS is well known for the performance of its football team, drill team, choir, and Timberwolf Band.
