Ziernsee

Wangnitzsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is situated in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. The lake has an elevation of 54.9 metres (180 ft) and a surface area of 1.9 square kilometres (0.73 sq mi). The navigable River Havel briefly flows through the Wangnitzsee, both entering and exiting at the west end of the lake. The river enters from a 7.2 kilometres (4.5 mi) channel from Wesenberg and the Woblitzsee, and exiting directly into the Großer Priepertsee. The lake itself is navigable to its eastern end, and navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.

Ellbogensee (German, 'Elbow Lake') is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in Germany. Although most of the lake is in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a portion of its southern shore is in the state of Brandenburg. It has a distinctive shape, reflecting its name.The lake has an elevation of 54.8 metres (180 ft) and a surface area of 1.55 square kilometres (0.60 sq mi). The navigable River Havel flows through the Ellbogensee, entering it at Priepert via a 0.6-kilometre (0.37 mi) long channel from the Großer Priepertsee to the north, and exiting via a 0.3-kilometre (0.19 mi) long channel to the Ziernsee to the east. At Strasen, at the western end of the lake, a canal and lock gives access to the Großer Pälitzsee, forming the first link of the Müritz–Havel–Wasserstraße. Navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.

Großer Priepertsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. The lake has an elevation of 54.9 metres (180 ft) and a surface area of 1.04 square kilometres (0.40 sq mi). The navigable River Havel flows the length of the Großer Priepertsee, entering it directly from the connecting Wangnitzsee to the north, and leaving it at Priepert via a 0.6-kilometre (0.37 mi) long channel to the Ellbogensee to the south. Navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.

Röblinsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in Germany. It is situated in the district of Oberhavel in the state of Brandenburg, and lies immediately to the west of the town of Fürstenberg. The lake has an east–west orientation, and is about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) long and up to 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) wide. The navigable River Havel flows through the Röblinsee, entering it via a 5.4 kilometres (3.4 mi) channel from the Ziernsee. The river exits the lake through a short channel and lock in the centre of Fürstenberg, before entering the linked lakes of Baalensee and Schwedtsee. Navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.

Schwedtsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in Germany. It is situated in the district of Oberhavel in the state of Brandenburg, and lies to the east of the centre of the town of Fürstenberg. The site of the Ravensbrück concentration camp was adjacent to the lake, and a memorial is now situated between the lake and the camp site. The lake has about an area of 750,000 square metres (8,100,000 sq ft) and is up to 3.5 metres (11 ft) deep. The navigable River Havel flows through the southern section Schwedtsee, entering it directly from the adjacent Baalensee, and exiting it via an adjacent 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) channel to the Stolpsee. The lake is navigable to its eastern end, and navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße. Germans dumped ashes of cremated prisoners from Ravensbrück into the Schwedtsee lake.

Lake Stechlin or Großer Stechlinsee is a lake in Landkreis Oberhavel, Brandenburg, Germany. At an elevation of 60 m, its surface area is 4.52 km². The Stechlin cisco, a dwarfed fish, is found only in this lake. Theodor Fontane's last novel, Der Stechlin, was set in its vicinity. Stechlinsee has a maximum depth of 69.5 metres, making it the deepest lake in the State of Brandenburg. It is also one of the clearest with a visual depth of up to 11 metres (average 6 metres). The water is of drinking quality. It is home to the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries.The Stechlin district is still one of the most important oligotrophic landscapes of Central Europe and a LIFE project was undertaken for the restoration of clear water lakes, mires and swamp forests of the Lake Stechlin.On 22 March 2012 The Global Nature Fund announced Lake Stechlin as the "Living Lake of the Year 2012".
