Röblinsee

Fürstenberg (Havel) station (German: Bahnhof Fürstenberg (Havel)) is a railway station in the municipality of Fürstenberg/Havel, located in the Oberhavel district in Brandenburg, Germany.

Fürstenberg (German pronunciation: [ˈfʏʁstn̩ˌbɛʁk] ) is a town in the Oberhavel district, Brandenburg, Germany.

Schwedtsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in Germany. It is situated in the district of Oberhavel in the state of Brandenburg, and lies to the east of the centre of the town of Fürstenberg. The site of the Ravensbrück concentration camp was adjacent to the lake, and a memorial is now situated between the lake and the camp site. The lake has about an area of 750,000 square metres (8,100,000 sq ft) and is up to 3.5 metres (11 ft) deep. The navigable River Havel flows through the southern section Schwedtsee, entering it directly from the adjacent Baalensee, and exiting it via an adjacent 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) channel to the Stolpsee. The lake is navigable to its eastern end, and navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße. Germans dumped ashes of cremated prisoners from Ravensbrück into the Schwedtsee lake.

Baalensee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in Germany. It is situated in the district of Oberhavel in the state of Brandenburg, and lies immediately to the east of the centre of the town of Fürstenberg. The navigable River Havel flows through the Baalensee, entering it from the Röblinsee via a short channel and lock in the centre of Fürstenberg, and exiting directly into the adjacent Schwedtsee. Navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.

Ziernsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in Germany. Whilst most of the lake is in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte (municipality Priepert) in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a portion of its southern shore is in the state of Brandenburg. The lake has an elevation of 54.6 metres (179 ft) and a surface area of 1.1 square kilometres (0.42 sq mi). The navigable River Havel flows through the Ziernsee, entering it via a 0.3-kilometre (0.19 mi) long channel from the Ellbogensee to the west, and exiting via a 5.4-kilometre (3.4 mi) channel to the Röblinsee. Navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.

Ravensbrück (German: [ˌʁaːvn̩sˈbʁʏk]) was a Nazi German concentration camp exclusively for women from 1939 to 1945, located in Northern Germany, 90 km (56 mi) north of Berlin at a site near the village of Ravensbrück (part of Fürstenberg/Havel). The camp memorial's estimated figure of 132,000 women who were in the camp during the war includes about 48,500 from Poland, 28,000 from the Soviet Union, almost 24,000 from Germany and Austria, nearly 8,000 from France, almost 2,000 from Belgium, and thousands from other countries including a few from the United Kingdom and the United States. More than 20,000 (15 percent) of the total were Jewish. More than 80 percent were political prisoners. Many prisoners were employed as slave laborers by Siemens & Halske. From 1942 to 1945, the Nazis undertook medical experiments on Ravensbrück prisoners to test the effectiveness of sulfonamides. In the spring of 1941 the SS established a small adjacent camp for male inmates, who built and managed the camp's gas chambers in January 1945. Of the female prisoners who passed through the Ravensbrück camp, about 50,000 perished. No precise accounting for the number of prisoners murdered in the gas-chamber at Ravensbrück can be given, but a compilation of witness accounts suggests that the number was over 5,000 and the true figure may have been much higher.

The Uckermark concentration camp was a small German concentration camp for young women near the Ravensbrück concentration camp in Fürstenberg/Havel, Germany and then an "emergency" extermination camp.

Besenreepsee is a lake in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. At an elevation of 57 m, its surface area is 0.084 km2.

Wangnitzsee is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is situated in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. The lake has an elevation of 54.9 metres (180 ft) and a surface area of 1.9 square kilometres (0.73 sq mi). The navigable River Havel briefly flows through the Wangnitzsee, both entering and exiting at the west end of the lake. The river enters from a 7.2 kilometres (4.5 mi) channel from Wesenberg and the Woblitzsee, and exiting directly into the Großer Priepertsee. The lake itself is navigable to its eastern end, and navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.

Neuroofen is a small hamlet of around 25 people in the Stechlin district of Germany. It lies in the area between Menz and Altglobsow and is surrounded by the forests and lakes of the Furstenberg Conservation Area and the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park.

Ellbogensee (German, 'Elbow Lake') is a lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, in Germany. Although most of the lake is in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a portion of its southern shore is in the state of Brandenburg. It has a distinctive shape, reflecting its name.The lake has an elevation of 54.8 metres (180 ft) and a surface area of 1.55 square kilometres (0.60 sq mi). The navigable River Havel flows through the Ellbogensee, entering it at Priepert via a 0.6-kilometre (0.37 mi) long channel from the Großer Priepertsee to the north, and exiting via a 0.3-kilometre (0.19 mi) long channel to the Ziernsee to the east. At Strasen, at the western end of the lake, a canal and lock gives access to the Großer Pälitzsee, forming the first link of the Müritz–Havel–Wasserstraße. Navigation is administered as part of the Obere–Havel–Wasserstraße.
