Lago Mar (sometimes spelled Lagomar or LagoMar) is a neighborhood on the north end of the Currituck Sound in the Princess Anne area of southeastern Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. The name translated from Spanish to English means "lake" and "sea". It is derived from its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and Brinson's Inlet Lake (originally known as "Salt Pond" and later "Lake Tecumseh"), as well as from the neighboring community of Ocean Lakes. The street names within Lago Mar are also of Spanish origin with the notable exception of Atwoodtown, which is what the area was called prior to being renamed in the 1960s. Today, neighboring communities Ashby's Bridge, Lotus Creek, Mirasol, Parkway Estates, and parts of Sigma are sometimes included in greater Lago Mar, especially for real estate marketing or demographic purposes.

Training Support Center Hampton Roads is the current name of the facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA, which was long-known as "FTC Dam Neck". It is the home of the Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic of the United States Navy.

Sigma is a small community near Sandbridge in the independent city of Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. Sigma lies just south of Lago Mar on Ashville Bridge Creek along Sandbridge Road at its intersection with New Bridge Road. The Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge has its administrative building on Sandbridge Road, and there is a large native garden of American Lotus across the street on a tributary of the Currituck Sound. Tabernacle United Methodist Church and Margie and Ray's Crabhouse are landmarks in the Sigma area. Like much of the Southeastern United States, the Sigma area of Virginia Beach has a subtropical climate, characterized by short, relatively mild winters and long, hot and humid summers. Daytime high temperatures in July average around 90 °F (32 °C) and in January, daytime temperatures average around 52 °F (11 °C).

"Red Mill Landing" was built soon after and includes Fire Brew restaurant, Linxx Martial Arts Academy, The Skinny Dip Frozen Yogurt Bar and a Sprint store. Red Mill Commons contains 775,000 and Red Mill Walk 240,000 square feet (22,000 m2) of retail space.

Pungo is a rural community located in the southern part of the independent city of Virginia Beach, Virginia and was one of the seven original boroughs when the City of Virginia Beach was created in 1963. The area derives its name from a local Indian tribe, the Machipungo, a branch of the Chesapeake tribe. It was named for a local Indian chief, Machiopungo. Because the community is located in an independent city, there is no individual census for the neighborhood, which was originally part of Princess Anne County until 1963, when the entire county became part of Virginia Beach. Like much of southern Virginia Beach, the area is surrounded by farmland. Pungo is known for its Pungo Strawberry Festival, which is held there every spring, and the Military Aviation Museum, which has a large collection of vintage warbirds. Also well known is the story of Grace Sherwood, known as the "Witch of Pungo". Nearby is Nimmo United Methodist Church, which was built in 1791 and expanded in the early 1990s; it is the oldest church with the original foundation in the area. Bishop Francis Asbury preached there.

Camp Pendleton is a 325-acre (1.32 km2) state military reservation in Virginia Beach, Virginia, named after Confederate Brigadier General William N. Pendleton, who served as Robert E. Lee's chief of artillery during the American Civil War. It lies on the Atlantic coast slightly east of Naval Air Station Oceana. It is one of the U.S. Army installations named for Confederate soldiers to be renamed by the Commission on the Naming of Items of the Department of Defense that Commemorate the Confederate States of America or Any Person Who Served Voluntarily with the Confederate States of America.

Croatan Beach is a residential neighborhood in the independent city of Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. It is located on the Atlantic Ocean south of Rudee Inlet and north of Camp Pendleton near the Virginia Beach oceanfront. It is situated in a prime location once planned as a religious and educational resort that was to be called Chautauqua-By-The-Sea.In addition to the Atlantic Ocean, the community is on the shores of Lake Wesley and Lake Christine. There is a public parking lot with beach access on the south end of Croatan. The East Coast Surfing Championships have been held just north of Rudee Inlet for 40 years.Nearby neighborhoods include Shadowlawn, Beach Borough, and the North End.

The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, formerly known as the Virginia Marine Science Museum, is an aquarium and marine science museum located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, just south of Rudee Inlet. The exhibits at the museum are contained in over 800,000 US gallons (3,028,000 l) of fresh and saltwater displays.

Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in southeastern Virginia is located in the independent city of Virginia Beach. Established in 1938 in an isolated portion of the former Princess Anne County, it is managed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The administrative office is located on Sandbridge Road at Sigma between Lago Mar and Sandbridge Beach. The Visitor Contact Center is accessed via Sandpiper Road from the Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach, which is the southernmost area of development on the Atlantic Coast of Virginia. Most of the 9,062.45-acre (36.6744 km2) freshwater refuge is on the Currituck Banks Peninsula, which borders the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Back Bay of the Currituck Sound on the west. As part of Virginia's Outer Banks, the refuge's barrier islands feature large sand dunes, maritime forests, freshwater marshes, ponds, ocean beaches, and large impoundments for wintering wildfowl. The majority of refuge marshlands are on islands contained within the waters of Back Bay. It is considered by conservationists to be an important link along the Atlantic Flyway for migratory birds such as snow geese. The refuge adjoins Virginia's False Cape State Park. Beyond that, the northern edge of North Carolina's Outer Banks lies immediately to the south. A tram runs through the refuge, providing the only public access to False Cape State Park other than by foot, bicycle, or boat. A bicycle/pedestrian trail is planned through the refuge between Sandbridge and Lago Mar.

Aviation Historical Park is an outdoor aviation museum just inside the main gate of Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It is open for visitors on a tour of the base, which is operated by the Military Aviation Museum, and military and DOD employees. Aircraft on display represent those historically in use at the air station. De Witt Cottage, also known as Holland Cottage and Wittenzand, is a historic home located at Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was built in 1895, and is a two-story, "L" shaped oceanfront brick cottage surrounded on three sides by a one-story porch. It has Queen Anne style decorative detailing. It has a full basement and hipped roof with dormers. A second floor was added to the kitchen wing in 1917. The de Witt family continuously occupied the house as a permanent residence from 1909 to 1988.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
