Naval Air Station Oceana or NAS Oceana (IATA: NTU, ICAO: KNTU, FAA LID: NTU) is a United States Navy Naval Air Station located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The base is under the jurisdiction of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic and is the headquarters of Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic and Carrier Air Wings 1, 3, 7 and 8. As home to all east coast strike fighter jet squadrons, the Naval Air Station is classified as a master jet base. The airfield is known as Apollo Soucek Field, named after Lieutenant (later Admiral) Apollo Soucek, a Navy test pilot who set the global altitude record in 1930 by flying a Curtiss "Hawk" biplane to an altitude of 43,166 feet. Constructed in 1941, and officially commissioned in 1943, NAS Oceana has been home to carrier-based aircraft since its inception. The field serves as home for 14 deployable Strike Fighter squadrons operating the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, a Strike Fighter Fleet Replacement Squadron, an adversary squadron, and a logistics squadron. Additionally, NAS Oceana operates Dam Neck Annex, a separate military installation that is home to other non-flying commands, including various school houses, and Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress, a practice carrier landing field, in nearby Chesapeake, VA. The air station is not open to the public except one weekend each year, usually in September, when it hosts the NAS Oceana Air Show.

The Oceana Neighborhood Historic District encompasses an early 20th-century planned neighborhood subdivision in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It consists of 70 acres (28 ha), roughly bounded by Virginia Beach Boulevard, First Colonial Road, and North Oceana Boulevard. This area was platted out in 1906 with a rectilinear street grid, and saw development of its commercial corridors in the 1930s. It contains a diversity of period residential architecture, including many examples of Colonial Revival architecture, as well as a number of older houses that predate the subdivision.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

Oceana is a major unincorporated community within Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. Adjacent to Oceana is the Naval Air Station Oceana. The community is centered at the intersection of Virginia Beach Boulevard and First Colonial Road. Oceana is also located in close proximity to the Atlantic Park and Seatack neighborhoods of Virginia Beach.

Upper Wolfsnare, historically called Brick House Farm until 1939, is a colonial-era brick home built, probably about 1759, in Georgian style by Thomas Walke III in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Camp Pendleton is a 325-acre (1.32 km2) state military reservation in Virginia Beach, Virginia, named after Confederate Brigadier General William N. Pendleton, who served as Robert E. Lee's chief of artillery during the American Civil War. It lies on the Atlantic coast slightly east of Naval Air Station Oceana. It is one of the U.S. Army installations named for Confederate soldiers to be renamed by the Commission on the Naming of Items of the Department of Defense that Commemorate the Confederate States of America or Any Person Who Served Voluntarily with the Confederate States of America.

The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, formerly known as the Virginia Marine Science Museum, is an aquarium and marine science museum located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, just south of Rudee Inlet. The exhibits at the museum are contained in over 800,000 US gallons (3,028,000 l) of fresh and saltwater displays.

Virginia Beach Friends School (VBFS) is an independent life-skills and college preparatory day school founded in 1955 under the care of the Virginia Beach Friends Meeting. Virginia Beach Friends School has more than 100 students enrolled in three divisions – Early School (Cottage, Treehouse, Pre-K and Kindergarten), Lower School (Grades 1-5), and Middle School (Grades 6-8).It formerly operated a high school, but the high school closed in 2021.

London Bridge is an unincorporated community within the independent city of Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. It is located in the area of Great Neck Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard, where Laskin Road begins. London Bridge was a town with its own post office in operation when it was still a part of Princess Anne County prior to the county's consolidation with Virginia Beach by mutual agreement in 1963. The post office at London Bridge was located in London Mews, now Chambord Commons in what is now known as the Le Chambord Restaurant. The actual bridge is on Virginia Beach Blvd., which was the site of a trading post owned and operated by the London Company, and crosses London Bridge creek, a part of the Lynnhaven River, that heads at the Lynnhaven Bay.

Lynnhaven is one of the seven original boroughs created when the city of Virginia Beach, Virginia was formed in 1963. It is located in the North Central portion of the city. This area was originally located at the mouth of the Lynnhaven Bay inlet. The name has changed over time. First known as Henry Towne, later Lynn Haven, Pleasure House Point, Bayville, and Chesapeake Beach.

Virginia Beach Arena was a proposed multi-purpose entertainment and sports arena adjacent to the Virginia Beach Convention Center on 19th Street in the oceanfront resort area, one block from Interstate-264 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The facility was to be privately owned and financed with an approximate size of 500,000 square feet and an 18,000 seat capacity. By early 2018, the proposed arena was cancelled by the City of Virginia Beach. The arena was projected to host events including major concerts, ice shows, trade shows, monster truck rallies, circuses and sporting events. It was to include NCAA/NBA/NHL-ready core features to enable future support of collegiate tournaments and a professional sports franchise. The developer contended that many major events currently bypass Hampton Roads because existing indoor venues, with lower seating capacities, are too small and lack the necessary staging capabilities for large-scale performances. The proposed Virginia Beach Arena would have been the largest in Virginia capable of staging these events. Projected to employ hundreds of full and part-time staff, the Arena's estimated cost was $210 million. The Virginia General Assembly passed legislation that allows the City to dedicate its portion of the Arena-generated state sales tax to satisfy project-related debt. In addition, the City of Virginia Beach, under a plan yet negotiated, will return "but for" taxes generated by admissions, food & beverage, and merchandise sales, as well as 1% of the existing hotel tax. The City of Virginia Beach was expected to contribute approximately $52 million to create the infrastructure needed to directly support the Arena. The City would finance this through its existing Tourism Investment Project (TIP) fund. Construction was estimated to take two years after the necessary agreements and permits are in place.

Opened in 2001, Red Mill Commons is a large regional shopping center located in southeast Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Nimmo Pkwy between General Booth Blvd and Upton Drive. Red Mill Commons is a dynamic shopping center in Virginia Beach, Virginia featuring some of the biggest names in retail including Home Depot, Super Wal-Mart, TJ Maxx, Target, Office Max and a unique mix of 80 other fine specialty stores, boutiques and restaurants.Retailers at the site include: Walmart Supercenter, TJ Maxx, Home Depot, Michaels, Fat Frogs Bike & Fitness, Five Below, Dollar Tree, Home Depot, Petco, 17th Street Surf Shop, Bath & Body Works, ABC and others; restaurants include: Outback Steakhouse, Chili's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Sonic Drive In, Wendy's, Five Guys, Starbucks, Panera Bread, La Bella Italia, Señor Fox Mexican Restaurant, Rigolettos, Taco Bell, Tapped Crafthouse, Tida Thai, Flip Flops Grill + Chill, Domoishi, Zero's Subs, Cold Stone Creamery, Red Robin, and Chipotle Mexican Grill. In early 2008, Red Mill Walk, an expansion of the complex that is anchored by a Target, opened across Elson Green Ave. It also contains an Office Max store, Primo Pizza, Pearle Vision, AT&T, Once Upon a Child and several other businesses. "Red Mill Landing" was built soon after and includes Fire Brew restaurant, Linxx Martial Arts Academy, The Skinny Dip Frozen Yogurt Bar and a Sprint store. Red Mill Commons contains 775,000 and Red Mill Walk 240,000 square feet (22,000 m2) of retail space.

On April 6, 2012, a McDonnell Douglas F/A-18D Hornet jet fighter of the United States Navy crashed into an apartment complex in Virginia Beach, Virginia, after suffering a dual engine failure shortly after take-off on a training flight. The building involved was extensively damaged, but there were no fatalities in the accident.
