Tuve Church

Tuve-Säve is a parish of the Diocese of Gothenburg, in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was formed in 2010 by the merger of the Tuve and Säve parishes. Since 2018 it has been in a common pastorate with the parish of Backa. Tuve Church is part of the parish.

The Tuve landslide was a large landslide in Tuve, Gothenburg, Sweden on November 30, 1977. Some 67 houses were destroyed, killing 9, injuring about 60 and making around 600 people homeless. The slide began at 16.05 and lasted 5–6 minutes. The slide affected 270 000 square meters (27 hectares). About 600 people lived in the area; of these, approximately 200 were in the area at the time of the slide. About 100 needed help by rescue workers. It was the most severe landslide in the modern history of Sweden.Close to one kilometer of the nearby road was destroyed. It is estimated that three to four million cubic meters of soil were involved in the slide and further would not have fertility to grow crops. The total economic cost of the slide has been estimated to 140 million SEK (15 million EUR, 22 million USD).

Hisingsparken (Swedish: [ˈhɪsɪŋsˌpɑrkɛn]) is the largest park area in Gothenburg, Sweden, covering approximately 320 hectares. The park is located on the island of Hisingen, within the districts of Slättadamm, Kärrdalen, Tuve, and Säve. It was officially established as a park in 1980. The oldest section of Hisingsparken is S.A. Hedlunds park, developed in the late 19th century and named in 1928. Notable features include the wetland area Gunnestorps mosse and the artificial pond Slätta damm. In the northern part of the park lies the Kättilsröd farm, a popular destination for children and families.

Albatross Golf Club is a golf club located 9 km north of central Gothenburg, Sweden. It has hosted the Volvo International Tournament on the Ladies European Tour.

Säve is a locality situated in Göteborg Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 743 inhabitants in 2010.The origin of the name Säve is the Old Swedish word "sjöe" (Modern Swedish "sjö"), meaning "lake".

The Säve Church (Swedish: Säve kyrka) is a medieval church in Gothenburg. It is located on the Hisingen island and belongs to the parish of Tuve-Säve. It belonged to the Säve parish until 2010, when the parishes of Tuve, Säve and Rödbo were merged. The church was erected in the early 13th century. It was first known as St. Olaf Church, after the saintly king Olaf II of Norway. The nave has a barrel vault, built in 1696. In 1704, the ceiling was covered with paintings by German artist Christian von Schönfeldt. In 1729, a cupola was built over the choir, painted by Johan Ross. The paintings depict scenes from both the New and the Old Testament. The porch was built in 1746, and the wooden tower above it was erected in 1750. The choir got its stained glass window in 1902. In 1945, the brick roof of the nave was replaced with slate.

Lundby (pronunciation) is a suburb and borough of Gothenburg, Sweden. It is located in the central part of the Hisingen island, stretching along the northern shore of the Göta River. It is the original home of the dollhouse manufacturing company Lundby and the home of Volvo Trucks and Volvo Penta. There were 38,000 people residing in Lundby on 1 January 2009. One of the few preserved medieval churches in the city of Gothenburg, Lundby Old Church, is located in Lundby.

Nya Rambergsvallen, currently known as Bravida Arena for sponsorship reasons, and as Hisingen Arena for UEFA competitions, is an association football stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden. The project was initiated by Allsvenskan side BK Häcken and Gothenburg Municipality to build a new 6,000 to 7,000 capacity stadium in the Hisingen area of Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Gothenburg discothèque fire was a fire caused by an arson attack on 29 October 1998, which occurred on premises located on Hisingen island in Gothenburg, Sweden. These had been rented for the night by an organization catering to the Macedonian community in Gothenburg for the purpose of hosting a discothèque. 375 people aged 12–25 were present at the time of the fire, the vast majority of whom had various ethnic minority backgrounds. The fire department had estimated the building could only hold up to 150. In all 63 were killed and 213 injured.

Hisingen (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈhîːsɪŋɛn]) is the fifth-largest island of Sweden (after Gotland, Öland, Södertörn and Orust), with an area of 199 km2 (77 sq mi). It is a river island, formed by the split of the Göta Älv at Bohus, and is defined to the east and south by the main arm of that river, to the north by the smaller arm (known as the Nordre Älv), and to the west by the Kattegat. The southern part of Hisingen is extensively urbanised, representing the northern suburbs of the city of Gothenburg. The island is divided between the historical provinces of Västergötland and Bohuslän, but lies entirely within the modern county of Västra Götaland The population of the island is around 130,000, making it the most populous island in Sweden, ahead of Södermalm and Gotland. For a brief, post-war period Hisingen was home to the largest shipbuilding centre in the world, but all three yards closed in 1979. Hisingen is home to both the Volvo Group and the now separate Volvo Cars. Most of the Nordic countries' largest port, the Port of Gothenburg is also located on Hisingen.

Elin Krantz was a Swedish 27-year-old woman who was murdered in the Biskopsgården district of Gothenburg on 26 September 2010. Krantz was murdered by Ephrem Yohannes, a 23-year-old African, in Biskopsgården where her body was found. Yohannes was found guilty of Krantz's murder and received a 16-year prison sentence and deportation on release.
