Gowerton railway station

Gowerton South railway station served the village of Gowerton, West Glamorgan, Wales from 1867 to 1964 on the Llanelly Railway.

Greatest Hits Radio South Wales (formerly Swansea Sound) is an Independent Local Radio station owned and operated by Bauer Radio as part of the Greatest Hits Radio network. The station broadcasts to Swansea, Cardiff, Newport and surrounding areas from studios in the Gowerton area of Swansea on DAB. Up until 2022, the station broadcast on 1170 kHz across its original target service of the Swansea Bay area. As of September 2023, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 102,000, according to RAJAR.

Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr is a Welsh-medium secondary school for pupils aged between 11 and 19 years. The school is situated in Gowerton, Swansea, Wales. It was established in 1984.As of 2023, Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr had 1113 pupils enrolled at the school, with 27.5 per cent of those coming from Welsh-speaking homes.Notable past students include footballer John Hartson, soprano Elin Manahan Thomas and UFC fighter Brett Johns.In 2001 the school, as the only Welsh-speaking secondary school in Swansea, was encountering capacity problems, having to accommodate over 1,000 pupils in buildings that were designed for a capacity of 750. Proposals were made to move the school to the site of Penlan Comprehensive School, which was shortly to close. However parents and Staff protested against the move, resulting in a second Welsh-language school in Swansea (Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe) According to the latest inspection report from Estyn the school has a GCSE pass rate of 76% (based on 5 GCSEs, grades A-C), which puts it in 5th place in Wales or in the top 10%. In Swansea it is ranked 1st place for best school. In 2015, the Rugby 1st XV won the Ospreys under 18s School League, beating Gowerton Comprehensive School 23–21.

Gowerton (Welsh: Tregŵyr) is the name of an electoral ward in the county of Swansea, Wales, UK. It is named after Gowerton village which falls within the ward. The Gowerton community boundaries are coterminous with the ward. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following areas: Gowerton, Penclawdd, Waunarlwydd, in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. It is bordered by Penclawdd and Fairwood to the south west; Killay North and Killay South to the south; Cockett to the east; and Lower Loughor, Upper Loughor, the Loughor estuary and Kingsbridge to the north. Gowerton (Welsh: Tregŵyr) is a large village and community, about 4 miles (6 km) north west of Swansea city centre, Wales. Gowerton is often known as the gateway to the Gower Peninsula. Gowerton's original name was Ffosfelin. The village falls within the Gowerton electoral ward of the City and County of Swansea Council, which elects one councillor. The community had a population of 5,212. and the built-up area with Waunarlwydd 8,183.In 1980, the Welsh National Eisteddfod (named after Dyffryn Lliw, see below) was held at the Elba sports complex in the village. The Eisteddfod stone (Gorsedd stones) is located on the roundabout (grid ref. 585966) on the B4295 road to Penclawdd.

Stafford Common is home to Garden Village Football Club, based in the village of Kingsbridge in the west of Swansea.

Gorseinon is a town within the City and County of Swansea, Wales, near the Loughor estuary. It was a small village until the late 19th century when it grew around the coal mining and tinplate industries. It is situated in the north west of Swansea City Centre, around 6 miles (10 km) north west of the city centre. Gorseinon is a local government community with an elected town council. The population of the Gorseinon town council area in the 2011 Census is 8,693. However, the ONS defines an area called the Gorseinon Urban Area which comprises all of the continuous built up area in and around Gorseinon. This area includes Gorseinon, Loughor, Garden Village and Penllergaer and has a population of 20,581.

Kingsbridge (Welsh: Pontybrenin) was an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales. It was part of the Llwchwr Town council area. The Kingsbridge ward was bordered by the wards of Gowerton, Cockett and Penderry to the south; Gorseinon and Penllergaer to the north and Upper Loughor to the west. The electoral ward consisted of some or all of the following areas: Kingsbridge, Garden Village and Stafford Common in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. Kingsbridge is a mainly rural ward but it also has a scattering of industrial areas. For election purposes, Kingsbridge is broken down into the polling districts of Kingsbridge and Garden Village. For the 2012 local council elections, the turnout was 36.25%. The results were:

Kingsbridge (Welsh: Pontybrenin), is a village in the City and County of Swansea, Wales falling within the Kingsbridge ward. It covers the south east of the town of Gorseinon. Kingsbridge lies to the south of Gorseinon and Penllergaer, to the east of Penyrheol, to the north of Gowerton and Cockett, and to the west of Penderry. Kingsbridge has a Welsh Football League club called Garden Village AFC. There is a small business park on the outskirts of the village. The premises of two south and west Wales radio stations called Swansea Sound and 96.4 The Wave are located in Kingsbridge. There are two local Primary Schools. YGG Pontybrenin teaches through the medium of Welsh, whilst Pontybrenin Primary School teaches through the English Language. The Gorseinon Campus of Gower College Swansea is also located in the area.
