Helderberg Escarpment

Teunis Houghtaling House, also known as Vredehuis, is a historic home located at Clarksville in Albany County, New York. It was built in two stages: the 1+1⁄2-story main block was built about 1770, expanded to a five-bay dwelling about 1790, at which time a 1-story addition was also completed. It is constructed of hand-hewn timber framing. Also on the property are two frame outbuildings and a small family cemetery with burials dating to the early 19th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Albany County ( AWL-bə-nee) is a county in the state of New York, United States. Its northern border is formed by the Mohawk River, at its confluence with the Hudson River, which is to the east. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 314,848. The county seat and largest city is Albany, which is also the state capital of New York. As originally established by the English government in the colonial era, Albany County had an indefinite amount of land, but has had an area of 530 square miles (1,400 km2) since March 3, 1888. The county is named for the Duke of York and of Albany, who became James II of England (James VII of Scotland). Albany County constitutes the central core of the Capital District of the State of New York, which comprises the Albany-Schenectady-Troy, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Bennett Hill Farm is a historic home and farm complex located at New Scotland in Albany County, New York. The original section of the main house was built in 1821 and is a three-by-two-bay, 2+1⁄2-story dwelling. In the 1830s, a large Greek Revival style 2+1⁄2-story, three- by two-bay addition was completed. Contributing farm buildings include the main barn (1797), animal barn (c. 1900), wagon shed (c. 1900), fruit barn (c. 1900), smoke house (c. 1810), and tenant house (c. 1890).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Clarksville Elementary School in Clarksville, New York, also known as Clarksville Grade School, is a Modern Movement-style building built in 1949. The design by Henry L. Blatner. Harry Blatner was an architectural success that was featured in nationwide publications and led to much change in how schools were designed. The application of bilateral lighting was one innovation. The school was closed after the 2010–11 school year. It is currently home to the Albany County Sheriff's Uniform Patrol Division.It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

WMHT-FM (89.1 MHz) is a listener-supported, non-commercial radio station licensed to Schenectady, and serving the Capital District of New York. It has a classical music radio format, with most programming originating in-house, but with some shows and news from National Public Radio, American Public Media and the Public Radio Exchange. It is the sister station to WMHT Channel 17, the PBS member station for the Albany/Schenectady/Troy media market. WMHT-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,100 watts. The transmitter is located on the Helderberg Escarpment antenna farm on Pinnacle Road in New Salem, New York. WMHT-FM broadcasts using HD Radio technology.WMHT-FM programming is also heard on a part-time basis on FM 88.7 WRHV in Poughkeepsie, which is involved in one of the last radio timeshare arrangements in the United States alongside State University of New York at New Paltz-owned WFNP-FM. From October 2005 to March 2006, WMHT-FM programming was also heard on co-owned FM 97.7 WBKK in Amsterdam. That station now airs an adult album alternative format, also heard on WMHT-FM's HD2 digital subchannel.

WRGB (channel 6) is a television station licensed to Schenectady, New York, United States, serving the Capital District as an affiliate of CBS. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group alongside CW affiliate WCWN (channel 45, also licensed to Schenectady). The two stations share studios on Balltown Road in Niskayuna, New York (with a Schenectady postal address); WRGB's transmitter is located on the Helderberg Escarpment west of New Salem. WRGB is notable for being one of the first television stations in the world. It began broadcasting experimentally in early 1928, with the first daily programs being broadcast later that year. It later became one of a handful of television stations licensed for commercial broadcasting operation before the end of World War II. The station launched the on-camera careers of TV chefs Art "Mr. Food" Ginsburg in the mid-1970s; and of Rachael Ray, who launched her "30 Minute Meals" segment on WRGB's newscasts in the mid-1990s.

WCWN (channel 45) is a television station licensed to Schenectady, New York, United States, serving the Capital District as an affiliate of The CW. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group alongside CBS affiliate WRGB (channel 6, also licensed to Schenectady). Both stations share studios on Balltown Road in Niskayuna, New York (with a Schenectady postal address), while WCWN's transmitter is located on the Helderberg Escarpment west of New Salem. WCWN brands as CW 15 after the cable channel position on Charter Spectrum and Verizon Fios.

New Salem is a hamlet in the town of New Scotland, Albany County, New York, United States. It is located in a valley at the foot of the Helderberg Escarpment along New York State Route 85. A local fair and car show is held every year in this small hamlet. It is also home to the town of New Scotland's community center and museum.

WPYX (106.5 FM "PYX 106") is a commercial radio station licensed to Albany, New York, and serving the Capital District. It broadcasts a classic rock radio format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. WPYX also carries New York Giants football games. WPYX has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 15,500 watts. The transmitter is on Pinnacle Road in Helderberg Escarpment tower farm in New Scotland, amid the towers for other Albany-area TV and FM stations. WPYX broadcasts using HD Radio technology. Its HD-2 digital subchannel formerly played 1970s classic rock, branded as "Gran Turino Radio."

WYJB (95.5 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Albany, New York, and serving the Capital District, including Schenectady and Troy. The station is owned by Pamal Broadcasting and broadcasts an adult contemporary radio format, switching to Christmas music for much of November and December. On weekday evenings, WYJB carries the nationally syndicated call-in and dedications show hosted by Delilah. The station's radio studios and offices are on Johnson Road in Latham.WYJB has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 12,000 watts. It transmits from the Helderberg Mountains antenna farm off Pinnacle Road in Voorheesville.

WINU (104.9 FM, "Big Country 104.9 & 97.9") is a commercial radio station licensed to Altamont and serving New York's Capital District. The station is owned by Pamal Broadcasting and airs a classic country radio format. WINU has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 530 watts. The transmitter is on Pinnacle Road in the Helderberg Escarpment tower farm in New Scotland, amid the towers for other Albany-area TV and FM stations. Programming is simulcast on co-owned WMML 1230 AM in Glens Falls and on its FM translator on 97.9 MHz.

WRVE (99.5 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed in Schenectady and serving the Capital District and Upper Hudson Valley New York. It broadcasts a hot adult contemporary radio format and calls itself "99.5 The River", referring to the Hudson River. The station is owned by iHeartMedia as one of seven radio stations owned by the company in the Albany-Schenectady-Troy radio market. Studios and offices are at Riverhill Center on Troy-Schenectady Road (NY Route 7) in Latham, New York. The transmitter is on Pinnacle Road in Helderberg Escarpment tower farm in New Scotland, amid the towers for other Albany-area TV and FM stations.WRVE is among the nation's oldest FM radio stations, and was the first to broadcast full-time in stereo.
