Aclimação

Aclimação Park (Portuguese: Parque da Aclimação) is a public leisure area located in the Aclimação district, in the central area of the Brazilian city of São Paulo. It opened on September 16, 1939, and covers an area of 112,000 square meters. It dates back to 1892, when Carlos Botelho decided to establish a garden on the site inspired by the Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris. It was acquired by São Paulo City Hall in the 1930s. The park was listed as a protected area in 1986 by the Council for the Defense of Historical, Archaeological, Artistic and Tourist Heritage (Condephaat). It includes a lake with around 70,000 cubic meters of water, a Japanese garden with a water mirror, an acoustic shell, playgrounds, gym equipment, a jogging track and a walking track. The fauna counts around 111 species, including birds such as the southern lapwing, the shiny cowbird, the red ovenbird and the rufous-bellied thrush. The local vegetation has landscaped areas with native and exotic species, such as guanandi, jacaranda, an extensive eucalyptus grove and fruit trees.

Liberdade (Portuguese: [libeɾˈdadʒi], liberty; Japanese: リベルダージ, romanized: Riberudāji) is the name of a district in the subprefecture of Sé, in São Paulo, Brazil. By various estimates, it is home to the world's largest ethnic Japanese community outside Japan.

The São Paulo Cultural Center (English: Centro Cultural São Paulo) is a public institution subordinated to the Municipal Department of Culture of São Paulo that includes the Pinacoteca Municipal, the Oneyda Alvarenga Record Collection, the collection of Mário de Andrade's Folklore Research Mission, a set of libraries, exhibition spaces, an area for various courses, theaters and a cinema.It is considered one of the city's main cultural spaces and one of the first institutions in São Paulo to be considered a "cultural center" in the strict sense of the term. It opened in 1982.

The Catedral Metropolitana Ortodoxa or the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of São Paulo (Portuguese: Catedral Metropolitana Ortodoxa de São Paulo), also known as the Orthodox Cathedral of São Paulo, is a cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, located at 1515 Vergueiro in Paraíso, Vila Mariana, São Paulo, Brazil. Dedicated to Paul the Apostle, it is home to the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of São Paulo and All Brazil. It is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world, and a fine example of Byzantine Revival architecture.

The Historical Museum of Japanese Immigration in Brazil (Portuguese: Museu Histórico da Imigração Japonesa no Brasil) is located in the Liberdade neighborhood, in the city center of São Paulo, Brazil. It was inaugurated on June 18, 1978, by the Brazilian Society of Japanese Culture to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil and has more than 97,000 historical items in its collection, including photos, films and videos. The opening ceremony was attended by the then Prince Akihito of Japan and the President of the Republic Ernesto Geisel.

The Ipiranga Brook (in Portuguese: Riacho do Ipiranga, Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈʁi.aʃu du ipiˈɾɐ̃ŋga]), is a river of São Paulo state in southeastern Brazil, historically known as the place where Dom Pedro I declared the independence of Brazil from the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves. Its name derives from the Tupi words: "Y", which means water or river, and "Piranga", which means red. It is also mentioned in the country's national anthem.

Vila Mariana (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈvila maɾiˈɐna]) is a borough of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Located to the south of Bela Vista and Liberdade, east of Jardim Paulista and west of Ipiranga, it's a dynamic area of the city. Similar to its neighbor district, Moema, it's a wealthy area and it comprises some of the most famous symbols of São Paulo, like the Ibirapuera Park, the Obelisk and Mausoleum of the heroes from the Constitutional Revolution in 1932 and the "Monumento às Bandeiras", and the Fundadores de São Paulo monument. The district also has in its limits the headquarters of the Federal University of São Paulo and its medicine school. Until the early 20th century, it used to be a stop for chariots and horse riders on the way to Jabaquara from the central area of São Paulo. The whole trip would take an entire day, but now it is commutable by car within less than 30 minutes. Vila Mariana is also the area where Athina Onassis lived, when married to Brazilian horse rider Álvaro Alfonso de Miranda Neto.
