Ruesga (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈrwesɣa]) is a municipality in Cantabria Province, Spain. It includes the following 6 villages: Calseca, Matienzo, Mentera Barruelo, Ogarrio, Riva (capital) and Valle. As of 2016, a total of 870 people lived in Ruesga. Its economy is primarily agriculture and forestry; livestock mountain or forestal exploitation of wealth employs 53.1% of the workforce. There were almost 5,000 heads of livestock spread over 198 farms. The unemployment rate was 14.7%.

Los Machucos, o Colláu Espina, is a mountain pass in the easternmost sector of the Cantabrian Mountains, known as the Pas Mountains, in Cantabria, Spain. It is located at 921 metres (3,022 ft) above sea level and communicates the villages of Bustablado and San Roque de Riomiera. It is known for its slopes between 15 and 20%, reaching 28% at certain points. At the summit, there is a Monument to the Pasiega cattle. In cycling, it was climbed for the first time in the 2017 Vuelta a España, when it was used as the finish of stage 17. Los Machucos was also featured as a stage finish in the 2019 Vuelta a España.

Trasmiera (Spanish: Trasmiera; Cantabrian and historically: Tresmiera) is a historic comarca of Cantabria (Spain), located to the east of the Miera River (tras Miera, meaning behind Miera, from the point of view of Asturias de Santillana), reaching the western side of the Asón. It extends between the bays of Santander and Santoña, occupying most of the Eastern seaboard of Cantabria. Entrambasaguas is a small municipality located in the autonomous community of Cantabria, Spain, 25 km south of the Bay of Santander. It is moderately mountainous, and the origin of the Aguanaz River, which once drove 23 watermills and merges with the Miera River. Limestone caves with Paleolithic rock art and burial sites from the Bronze Age exist. Iron was mined here from prehistoric times, used in the Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada, which supplied the Armada, and eventually brought some wealth during the Renaissance. First mentioned in 1210, this rural area of Green Spain consists of six towns an area of 43.2 square km, totaling about 5,000 inhabitants as of 2015, having nearly doubled since 2005.

The Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada (Spanish: Real Fábrica de Artillería de La Cavada) was an artillery foundry at La Cavada (Riotuerto) in Cantabria, Northern Spain. The foundry was established in 1622 by Jean Curtius with the support of Gaspar de Guzmán, Count-Duke of Olivares and became fully operational 15 years later. Between 1637 and 1835 the facility was responsible for the production of more than 26,000 cannons for ships and fortresses throughout the Spanish Empire. It closed after the defeat of the Spanish at the Battle of Trafalgar.
