Rubery railway station was a railway station in the district of Rubery, Birmingham, England, on the Great Western Railway and Midland Railway's joint Halesowen Railway line from Old Hill to Longbridge. The station closed in 1919 for regular services but workmen's trains continued until 1958. The station was the location of the only passing loop between Halesowen and Longbridge. Rubery is a village in the Bromsgrove District and a suburb of Birmingham in the counties of Worcestershire and West Midlands, England. It is 9 miles (14 km) from Birmingham city centre and a similar distance from Bromsgrove. Rubery was built on a sandstone quarry, now known as "Rubery Cutting"/"Leach Green Quarry", parts of which can still be seen near the Rubery 'Fly-over'. Former clay mining pits, later flooded and known locally as 'The Marl Holes', now make up Callowbrook Park, which, alongside St Chads Park, is one of the two main parks in the village. Much of the urbanisation in Rubery occurred between 1960 and 1970, where suburbs replaced former farmland and historic farms such as Callowbrook Farm (formally located at the site of Callowbrook Bridge) and Gunner Lane Farm.

Colmers School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Rednal area of Birmingham, in the West Midlands of England.Previously a community school solely administered by Birmingham City Council, Colmers School became a foundation school in 2009. The school offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. The school also has a sixth form consisting of Year 12 and 13 students, based in its Sixth Form Centre with students studying a range of A-level subjects. The school has a house system, currently comprising three houses: Wolf, Eagle and Dolphin. Students join one of the three houses upon entry to the school and compete in range of areas to win the annually-awarded House Cup. Colmers Community Leisure Centre also operates from the school site, offering sports and leisure facilities to the local community outside school hours.

Waseley Hills High School and Sixth Form Centre is a mixed secondary school and sixth form with academy status in the town of Rubery, on the border of the county of Worcestershire and the city of Birmingham, England, at the base of the Waseley Hills Country Park. The school with its dedicated sixth form centre has about 710 students on roll. The school also has specialist hearing impaired provision, and a specialist able autism base. It has gained a number of awards, including the Artsmark award in the academic term 2005/2006. The school's catchment area includes the surrounding primary schools of Lickey Hills Primary, Holywell Primary, and Beaconside Primary and Nursery. Waseley converted to academy status in September 2012. Waseley was identified as one of the poorest performing schools in England (2017–18) A 2010 Ofsted report accorded the school a Grade 3 (satisfactory). A 2018 Ofsted report accorded the school a Grade "requires improvement" . The school still remains in this category as of March 2021.

Hollymoor Hospital was a psychiatric hospital located at Tessall Lane, Northfield in Birmingham, England, and is famous primarily for the work on group psychotherapy that took place there in the years of the Second World War. It closed in 1994.

Waseley Hills Country Park is 150 acres (0.61 km2) a Country Park and Local Nature Reserve owned and managed by Worcestershire County Council's Countryside Service. It consists of rolling open hills with old hedgerows, pastures and small pockets of woodland with panoramic views over Worcestershire, England. It is just south-west of Birmingham, close to Junction 4 of the M5 Motorway, from which it is signposted. The North Worcestershire Path and Illey Way long-distance paths run through the park. The park contains the source of the River Rea. The hills form part of the watershed between the Rea valley and that of the river Salwarpe, and thus between the catchments of the rivers Trent and Severn. According to the Worcestershire County Council, the elevation reaches a maximum of 998 feet (304 metres).

Frankley services is a motorway service station on the M5 motorway between Junctions 3 (A456, Quinton Interchange) and 4 (A38, Lydiate Ash), near Birmingham, and taking its name from the nearby village of Frankley.

Frankley Reservoir is a semi-circular reservoir for drinking water in Birmingham, England, operated by Severn Trent Water. Its construction was authorised by the Birmingham Corporation Water Act of 1892. It was built by Birmingham Corporation Water Department to designs by Abram Kellett of Ealing in 1904.It contains 900,000 cubic metres (200,000,000 imp gal) of water received from the Elan Valley Reservoirs, 117 km (73 mi) away, in Wales, which arrives via the Elan aqueduct, by the power of gravity alone, dropping 52 metres (171 ft) – an average gradient of 1 in 2,300. Before 1987 it was leaking 540 litres (120 imp gal) per second. In that year ground-penetrating radar was used successfully to isolate the leaks.
