The following is a timeline of the history of Panama City, Republic of Panama.

Panamá is a district (distrito) of Panamá Province in Panama. The population according to the 2010 census was 880,691; the latest official estimate (for 2019) is 1,183,333. The district covers a total area of 2,031 km². The district seat is Panama City.

Panama City (Spanish: Ciudad de Panamá; pronounced [sjuˈða(ð) ðe panaˈma]), also simply known as Panama (or Panamá in Spanish), is the capital and largest city of Panama. It has an urban population of 880,691, with over 1.5 million in its metropolitan area. The city is located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, in the province of Panama. The city is the political and administrative center of the country, as well as a hub for banking and commerce.The city of Panama was founded on 15 August 1519, by Spanish conquistador Pedro Arias Dávila. The city was the starting point for expeditions that conquered the Inca Empire in Peru. It was a stopover point on one of the most important trade routes in the American continent, leading to the fairs of Nombre de Dios and Portobelo, through which passed most of the gold and silver that Spain mined from the Americas. On 28 January 1671, the original city was destroyed by a fire when the privateer Henry Morgan sacked and set fire to it. The city was formally reestablished two years later on 21 January 1673, on a peninsula located 8 km (5 miles) from the original settlement. The site of the previously devastated city is still in ruins, and is now a popular tourist attraction, and is regularly visited by school trips.

The Torre Global Bank is an office skyscraper in the Bella Vista district of Panama City, Panama. Built between 2002 and 2005, the tower stands at 176 m (577 ft) with 43 floors and is the 32nd tallest building in Panama City It was the tallest building in the country between 2005 and 2007.

The F&F Tower (previously known as the Revolution Tower) is an office tower in Panama City, Panama.

The Credicorp Bank Tower, also known as the PH Plaza Credicorp is a high-rise office building in the Bella Vista district of Panama City, Panama. Completed in 1997, the tower stands at 146 m (479 ft) tall with 42 floors and is the 51st tallest building in Panama City. It also serves as the headquarters of the Panamanian filiale of the Credicorp Bank.

The Torre Banco General also known as Plaza Banco General is a high-rise office building in the Bella Vista district of Panama City, Panama. Completed in 1998, the tower stands at 122 m (400 ft) tall with 32 floors, and is the 55th tallest building in Panama City. It serves as the headquarters of the Banco General Panamá.

The HSBC Tower Soho Mall is a mixed-use building complex in Panama City, Panama. Built between 2011 and 2017, the complex consists of three towers with the tallest one standing at 207 m (679 ft) tall with 41 floors, which contains the office function. The other two towers share retail and commercial, as well as the hotel functions.

The Mystic Point Towers is a mixed-use skyscraper complex in the Punta Pacifica district of Panama City, Panama, in the proximity of the Corredor Sur highway. Built between 2003 and 2006, the complex consists of two twin towers (Torre Mystic 100 and Torre Mystic 200) standing at 166 m (545 ft) tall with 42 floors each, currently sharing the position of the 41st tallest buildings in Panama City.

The Megapolis Tower 1 (also commonly known as the Hard Rock Hotel) is a skyscraper that is located in the area of Avenida Balboa in Panama City, Panama. Construction began in 2008 and ended in 2011, is 230 meters high and has 63 floors. It was administered by Decameron Hotel Group. This hotel came with complimentary wireless internet and a luxurious spa area. In 2020, the hotel closed due to decreased tourism demand from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pacifica Salud is a hospital in Panama City, Panama. It is the only hospital in Central America to be affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine International. Attracting medical tourism is a major component of its operating plan.

The Tower Financial Center (also known as the TowerBank Financial Center) is an office skyscraper in Panama City, Panama. Built between 2008 and 2011, the tower stands at 231 m (758 ft) tall with 52 floors and is currently the 13th tallest building in Panama City.
